Discussion thread. ....We needed one. *shot*

Is there anyone who's beaten Super Hard without using continues? I've beaten Very Hard without continues, but Super Hard is just too difficult. ^^;;
 
I love this game so very much! And Japan didn't even get it! Well, they got the Johto version, but not the Kanto one!
 
Best spinoffs ever. I beat Very Hard with a shitload of continues, and I'm currently on Mewtwo/Gary on Super Gard. Still on a shitload of continues. There IS a trick to get no continues even if you lose, it just takes 20 seconds longer.
 
The Johto version was on GBC, and the Kanto/Orange version was on N64. The Johto version revolved around Hiro and Pokémon GS, while the Kanto/Orange version revolved around - you guessed it - the TV show, and it even had anime FMVs, including the return of Mewtwo...who is apparently not only the world's greatest Pokémon Master, but also the world's greatest Panel de Pon master too!

I beat Very Hard today in one shot with no continues.... Second time achieving this. Yay!

Mewtwo's super powerful, especially in PPL. He kicks butt in SSBM as well. Now if only he could be in Mario Party (which will definitely never happen).... XD *shot*

Mewtwo is the new Galileo!
 
I love this game!! A friend and I used to play it all the time last year. Most people won't play with me, though, becauseI used to play it so much that it's hard for new players to beat me. I sould try to play the story mode again one of these days.
 
Mewtwo's not too good in SSBM..... =/

ANYWAYS, I love PPL. The only way I beat him in VHard was because he raised the blocks after I dropped a 9x combo on his psychic ass.

PUZZLE LEAGUE IS MY CRACK.

Seriously, I bought a used N64 just for it once I found out you could play TR and Giovanni in multiplayer. It is the greatest game EVER. But no, I've never beat the final Mewtwo stage on Super Hard.

Anyone else ever think Persian sounds like it's dying in Story Mode, by the way? Just wondering.
 
Persian DOES sound like it's dying. ....*finds it amusing*

The trainer's sayings and their Pokemon are one of the things that makes the game extremely amusing. Prepare for a long list!


Ash- Just the normal stuff, and his Pokemon are normal as well. The only thing about Ash that I find hilarious is that on the continue screen, they made his head bobble when one of the blocks hits him. And the head looks noticibly different all the time because of it. Ah, and on the same screen, the spots on Bulbasaur's head aren't coloured in.

Gary- ....AHAHAHA. Being the Palletshipper I am, I laugh to the point of tears hearing Gary say "Let's do it!" and "Show me what ya got!" I'm stupid. I also love when he says "you've won" when you're awarded the trophy in story mode.... his nose sounds so stopped up. XD

Brock- Normal. Geodude's "duuuuude" can be bad if a large chain is made.

Misty- Normal. Her Staryu gets annoying after a while.

Lt. Surge- Three words- "Poor, poor baby". As for his Pokemon, Jolteon's "JOLT JOLT" makes me giggle and Magneton's high-pitched "Mmmmm-agnaton!" is hilarious.

Erika- Her "Give up?" sounds like something strange in French. As far as her Pokemon go, someone needs to set a torch to Tangela's voice. I hate hearing that thing screech.

Koga- In 2P mode, his "your skills need sharpening" seems so out of place to me. And the best part about Koga.... the exasperated "VENOMOTH" torward the end of combos. XD

Sabrina- Nothing, really.

Blaine- "MagMAAr!" His super fast "Congratulations you've won the volcano badge" (no comma needed) sounds like he's either extremely hyper or he's rushed to get somewhere. And his little "hot under the collar" comment slightly amuses me, since he has no collar (even though he's talking to Ash).

Team Rocket- James' "I'm feeling giddy!" sounds like "I'm feeling/feeding Didi!" Asode from that.... "CHAAAAR-BAK-a" is AMAZING. XD And Golbat gets on my nerves after a while.

Tracey- You hear "Aw, man!" so much. Marill can, sadly, get annoying. It's one of my favourite Pokemon, too.... And Tracey's background music is nice for being only used in the game.

Giovanni- When his "You're wasting my time" and "The world will be mine" are combined, my brother swears that it sounds like he says "You're wasting my behind". And as Neku mentioned, Persian sounds like it's dying, which is funny. Sandslash can get annoying as well.

Richie- I love Richie. X3 "Who's the best?" ....I really like that. He sounds so pompous, for a change. Or maybe he's referring to Ash.... XD Happy can get annoying.

Lorelei- My favourite to battle, because she has the amazing and addicting Pokemon Theme remix as her background song, and her Pokemon are hilarious. For Poliwhirl, after a little while during a chain, it makes this strange noise at the end of its name. Dewgong is something to look forward to with its "GONG GONG GONG!" that it repeats a million times. And my favourite of the entire game.... "Cu-luh-luh-luh-loyster!" I LOVE IT SO MUCH. *coughs*

Bruno- Normal, though his "We won!" sounds like he's on steroids.

Mewtwo- The clone Pokemon get annoying. Really annoying. ....But Mewtwo himself has Dan Green behind him, and nothing bad can ever be said about Dan Green. XD

I think Nintendo is referencing it in the new Tetris Attack game in the US: its english (or at least US name at this point) is puzzle league DS or something.

I really want a PKMN PL game/port instead though... I hope it at least feature Panel de pon characters (or even pokemon since its suppose to be skinnable and stylish like lumines)
 
2P versus match + 3D playfield + both sides almost filled up + both players pulling off 5+ chains simultaneously = RIDICULOUSLY EPIC SLOWDOWN.

He doesn't say anything snarky in Spa Service, sadly....

And I'M wasting his time? He's the one playing the stupid puzzle video game!

So true. It reminds me of a fabulous quote I found....

"When you're battling Mewtwo in Pokemon Puzzle League, he keeps saying "It is my destiny". His DESTINY is to win a PUZZLE LEAGUE? Dude, his destiny kinda sucks."

....Now I want to go home and play PPL, dangit. XD It's hard to play on Project 64. x_x ....But at home I've gotten through Tracey without continues on Super Hard, so that's a good thing.
 
Giovanni and Mewtwo both seem to have their share of issues, indeed... I guess they were just staying true to canon there. But he "doesn't even know the Puzzle Master" (Richie)? I'd imagine he would, given he freaking OWNED him in Battle for the Badge (or at least know of his existence). By the way, am I the only one who finds it borderline OOC he congratulates you on your win? Yeah, all the characters do it, but you'd think he'd be all, "Lucky shot" or something instead. Or just silently retreat to his lair of evil. Or something.

I still find it very odd this game was sold in the US, but not in Japan. You'd think they'd love it there, given the elements of crossdressing and the like. Yay for Spa Service...
 
PPL is indeed my crack; but it's just TOO much effort to try and get my N64 working. Maybe I'll go play it now.....
 
Ooh, I might buy that. I don't own a real copy.

After some thought, I dug out PPL and played Super Hard VS Gary..... and lost in 49 seconds. XD
