WHAT!? A new Pokemon Ranger game? This is the first I've heard of it!

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

I personally think that a Gen V pokémon be featured to promote Generation V, just like how Ranger 1 promoted Gen IV.

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

Yeah. PR1 promoted Manaphy, so I wonder what PR3 has in store for us.

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

I'm not excited at all. Just hoping that it'll be a decent game.

The player characters become younger and younger as the Ranger series go. The new girl is a total loli.

Also, if I read correctly (the screenshot on the scan is barely legilible), then boy's name is "Natsuya".

I'm annoyed by the fact that the main villain's name is RedEye. That has to be the worst villain name ever. Also, in addition to having a gay name, he also looks kind of gay (muscular and effeminate at the same time, that's totally gay). The first gay villain in the Pokemon series? Yay or Nay?

Ukulele Pichu, lol. Are they trolling us with yet another one?

Generally, while I like Ranger series, I'd really prefer that to be MindCrystal, RSEmakes *shot* or some Stadium-like game. This game feels a bit forced and it doesn't bring anything new to the franchise. But at least it's something that has some human DNA, not another Dungeon game or something like that.

Hope for some references to Fiore and Almia. That's one of the things that I liked SoA for.

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

Must you point out the apparent gayness? That just annoys me.

They're just Japanese names so far. Look at SoA. Their villains were called Team Darkness-Darkness (From the Japanese name)! I'm sure the American games will replace the name RedEye.

Graphics look really sweet in this game.

Nando keeps telling me to play Ranger, maybe I'll use this as an excuse to catch up on the first two in the time leading up to a US release. Besides, it has a Pichu who plays ukulele.

HOW DO YOU NOT LOVE THAT.

It's very interesting that another Ranger title shows up at the ending years of Gen IV. If this game has Wi-Fi, I wonder what we will see in terms of downloadable content, it's obvious that Deoxys will probably be the first event. If the Rock/Lock Capsule is indeed like the Manaphy Egg, then it could show up as a special mission in the game.

The game itself looks like pretty standard fare for a Ranger title. The new symbol-drawing feature looks nice, reminds me of the game Lost Magic.

yey!!!! I am soo happy there is a third ranger game, it was the highlight of my morning hearing about it :)

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

Honestly, I squee'd a little. :) The Ranger games are very overlooked as good games in their own right, especially Shadows of Almia, which in my opinion has the best story of any Pokémon game to date. And this follow-up seems to do the series justice, at least from what I can see so far, and what little we can see from the graphics bodes very well both for this game and for the next main-series installments.

Also, @Maxim: as a gay guy...yeah, I'm just gonna have to stop you right there before you reach stereotype critical mass (and point out that villain names often are changed in this series). Not to mention that the girl doesn't seem remotely more "loli" than any of Sugimori's other recent designs.

Not much discussion here about the gameplay features yet, so I'll link over to PokéBeach's rundown, which seems pretty complete. the Signs are the most intriguing thing to me at the moment - I'm wondering how Pokémon you call this way would be different from ones you capture otherwise.

Me too! That game was a disappointment, but I've always liked the concept behind it, and if even a little of that survives in this game, I'll be happy.

Meh, another Ranger game. 99.9% chance of another 2-parter in the anime, and another manga on the Pokémon Daisuki Club website from the guys behind Special/Adventures. Just like the first two games. Maybe now we'll get an English version of that manga on Pokémon.com's Trainer Club?

Well, at least the artwork doesn't quite look as "Sugimori wannabe" as the first two games (or *cough*HGSSTeamRocket*cough*), though the male Ranger design screams Digimon...

There would be no point in doing that. The Rock/Lock Capsule is meant to be transferred from HGSS to some other game, rather than the other way around. Obtaining the item in Ranger 3, sending it to HGSS, and from there to some new game would just be redundant; HGSS have an independent Mystery Gift feature that can be used to receive the item via a Wi-Fi event or a movie promotion (which is the likelier case).

I agree (I realized it a while before). They are clones of Tai and Sora.

That's sorta like saying that sea water doesn't seem remotely more wet than tap water.

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

The symbol drawing and actually calling Pokemon out into battle are something that the series has needed for a while.

One thing I really want is multiple save files or a new game plus. These games literally have nothing to do after the campaign mode.

The Pokemon Ranger series has always seemed like Pokemon's take on Digimon to me.

I wonder if the 17 old PokeAssists are in the game and these new PokeAssists are in addition to the old ones?

Hopefully the selection of starter partner Pokemon is better than in the previous games. Plusle, Minun, Munchlax, Starly, and Pachirisu are not an impressive selection.

Which was kind of my point - it's not really remarkable, so why bother pointing it out?

I do have to agree about the Digimon vibe, though I can tell it's mainly there because of the goggles, as the characters themselves don't have much a resemblance. And hey, who knows, they may actually turn out to have a purpose, like the goggles in RSE.

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

I don't know whether to get this game or not when it comes out. I had the first ranger game and was so surprised (and dissapointed) at how short the story was. I hope Deoxys will be available to transfer over to HG/SS. Any news on the release dates?

Point taken.

Actually it looks like Sugimori RESTRAINED himself this time (if those are even his designs- I don't think he's an artist in the Ranger series.) I like this style though- it's different from the last two Ranger games, a little bolder and more shounen manga inspired than the Nomura-esque stuff from Ranger 1 and 2.

*artgasm*

Re: Pokémon Ranger 3: Tracks of Light {Discussion, Dreams and Disbute Thread}

The first Ranger game was crap.

The second was a pretty fun Adventure game.

The problem with the series is that it has no re-playability.
