The North American DVD box art of the ninth Pokémon movie, [[bp:Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea|Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea]], has been revealed. The art is the same as the Japanese theatrical poster, but the Japanese DVD release has a different cover.

*prays they hurry the hell up and get the PAL releases back on track*

I want my widescreen movies in widescreen damnit! >=O

Nice. BTW, what does that icon in the top-right corner say?

"Pokemon"

then I think the yellow words under it may say "Pikachu Project 2006".

I saw "Pokémon", I was just wondering about the word under it. Thanks.

Everybody knows at this point the movies are not going to be released in widescreen, so why do you all always get your hopes up? You will see a widescreen US release of a Pokémon movie the next time Veronica Taylor and Eric Stuart play the leads. ;_v

Nevermind the fact that the movie could be better than The Godfather and much of the fandom would still hate it if it weren't widescreen....

Don't get me wrong, the fact it is not in widescreen won't make me hate it, in fact I loved the raw and I'll love the dub (just like with the other movies I liked the original of), I just think it detracts from the "movie" part.

This isn't a surprise at all, but it's still really disappointing. There had been a thin sliver of hope that we'd see a proper widescreen release since the show is free of 4Kids' grip, but that's obviously not the case.

I'll still buy the American DVD because I'm obligated to do so for my site, but I'm not happy about it.

lol lets boycott pusa

PUSA Rep1: "Well, we fixed those dialouge errors in those recent episodes. How many people are building statues in our honor?"
PUSA Rep2: "None sir."
PUSA Rep1: "Okay then, fullscreen it is."

I love how someone on SPP is claiming that the lack of widescreen is "the worst possible thing for the movie."

I laughed when I read that, then I wished for a release of Mewtwo Strikes Back in widescreen to teach him that widescreen doesn't save a bad movie.

Where did that first image come from? When I first saw the news about this, Amazon didn't have an image of the DVD. Now they do and (as I have guessed) the logo in the top right corner just says "Pokémon Movie":
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MKXF46
It says something about "Pikachu's Island Adventure" as a bonus. I guess that's the most recent ANA movie.

Also, they have an "Exclusive 3 Disk Set":
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MRAAKG

Even though the regular DVD is listed to have only one disc, I guess it will probably have two because I doubt they could fit both, the main movie and Pikachu's Island Adventure, on one disc. That would still leave the question what is on the third disc from Amazon's exclusive set.

Anyway, they could have cropped less off the top of the poster art and more of the bottom. The part of the DVD cover beneath the logo is so empty. :(

Edit:
Studio: Simon & Schuster
lol what?

I don't think anyone was claiming that. A crappy movie is a crappy movie no matter what aspect ratio it's shown in. But cropping out some 40% of a really good movie can really make it unwatchable. It's aggravating. The cropped version of Lucario movie doesn't have the sense of "largeness" that its widescreen counterpart does, and while it doesn't do away with the great plot or the music or all of that, it still affects my ability to enjoy the dub.

It also makes the DVD's absolutely useless for screencap purposes.

I really don't see PUSA fudging up the music, putting out an inaccurate script, changing too many names, or editing much of anything out of the Manaphy movie. Shoot, if Sarah Natochenny can get into her "Tactics Theatrics" mode, then even the voice acting will even be acceptable. We're going to have all these things done really well, but the cropped video will still be there to fuck everything up, just like it was for every other Advanced Generation movie.

Actually, that's what I'm hoping for, TGB!! ^^

I mean, I'm hoping that Veronica and Eric will play the leads again and soon, lol.

Did anyone on there even think about the fact that the 9th movie is the first Pokemon movie to be done with all new voices?

*sighs*

So much for Pokemon being nostalgic for anyone nowadays. :-(

Other than having the same Pokemon, the same human characters, and the same music (mostly), the nostalgia is completely gone as far as the voices go.

Shoot, if Sarah Natochenny can get into her "Tactics Theatrics" mode, then even the voice acting will even be acceptable.
Oh, I could only hope so, Dogasu......

I mean, if Sarah's voice acting is very bad, then I know I definitely won't enjoy the 9th movie (this is very likely to happen, in my opinion, since I've hated her performance in the most recent Battle Frontier episodes).

Wow, I can't believe it. There's actually gonna be a Pokemon movie that I won't enjoy watching. This is so sad!! ;_;

And that reminds me, since I probably won't like this movie (hypothetically speaking), then I'm not even sure if I want to buy it. I mean, why should I waste money on something that's just gonna make me sad and dissappointed in the end?

Having said that, I've pretty much made up my mind that I won't be buying this movie.

Though, on the other hand, if someone could get me a sound clip of Sarah's Ash voice in Manaphy (before its release), and if I think the voice sounds *much improved*, I may consider buying the 9th movie......

But to be honest, I don't think there's gonna be much of a difference in her voice acting (except for the emotion, maybe).

She's potentially gotten better (Or I've gotten slightly used to her) but certainly not enough for someone who hates the voice as much as you do would be able to stand it.

Hey! I have a widescreen Pokémon 4ever, and it's in Engliish! If anyone has a good condition Suicune Card that came with the movie WHICH WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE WIDESCREEN EDITION, and the movie itself, I'll gladly trade for your fullscreen, as long as you live in Southern Ontario or New York State (I'm in the middle; a Niagara Falls burrow, Welland)!

Damn card, I was so excited to get my hands on an e-Reader Suicune too.

What does that even mean?

Her worst episodes are fairly recent but if she produces a Gathering the Gang of Four we'll be set.

No they aren't.

I don't know what you Europeans are used to, but she's much better now than any of the early eps.

Is this just something where different countries can't handle different tones?

Makes me curious.
