I was gonna just make a post in the "Boomerang" thread about this. But I figured it's kinda off-topic, and I think my subject deserves its own thread......

Okay, there's something that has been bothering me, and I think this is a problem (at least for me anyway).

I've noticed that Cartoon Network is no longer showing the reruns of Advanced Battle.

What's worse is that, right now there are no episodes from seasons 1 through 8 being aired as reruns. And yes, this means there are no episodes from the 4Kids dub being aired as of right now (no episodes with the original VAs). :-(

This makes me very sad indeed because my favorite hobby is, and has always been, watching reruns of Pokemon.

And by the way, yes I know that CN is currently airing reruns of Battle Frontier, and I also know that the BF season is almost over. So it makes sense that they would replace Advanced Battle with Battle Frontier, seeing as how season 9 is now the "previous season" anyway. I mean, once P/D or season 10 starts airing, then that would make BF the previous season.

I don't have a problem with CN airing ruruns of Battle Frontier, since I've been expecting this all along (what with all the NEW episodes they've been giving us, I could definitely see this one coming, lol). Every once in a while, I might watch a rerun of BF, but only if it's an episode I actually liked and one that I can actually stand to watch (without cringing too much about Ash's voice, or having some other problem with the episode).

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is, I don't like the fact that - as of right now - no episodes from seasons 1 through 8 are being aired. Yes, I know that these seasons may be "old" to most people, especially the early seasons. But that's still no reason why CN or some other channel (Boomerang maybe?) can't air one/some of those seasons as reruns.

Does anyone know when/if episodes from seasons 1 through 8 (ANY of those seasons) will be aired sometime soon or in the near future?

I'm sorry everyone, but I just feel like I'm being deprived of my favorite hobby. And I miss this very much so. I'll never feel the same if CN doesn't show reruns from seasons 1 through 8.

I realize that people may be wondering why I can't just:

1. Watch these episodes on video/DVD.

2. Watch them on my computer.

3. Why do I like watching reruns on TV so much?

My reasons for this would be:

1. Normally, I like to watch Pokemon episodes on video/DVD with a friend. And when it comes to videos/DVDs, I will only watch Pokemon episodes with a friend. The only exception to this is, if I'm very, very bored and I have nothing else to do, then I might watch Pokemon videos/DVDs by myself. But anyway though, for the most part, I will not watch episodes by myself, because that makes me feel "lonely". I want or need to have someone else watch Pokemon with me, because it's more fun and it makes the episodes more enjoyable.

2. I don't have my own computer, so this is very difficult for me indeed.

3. I like watching reruns on TV, because it's more fun, in my opinion. You have commericials, just like when these episodes "originally aired" on TV. And, since these Pokemon episodes are being broadcast on TV, you know that many other people are watching these Pokemon episodes with you. So in other words, that "lonely" feeling that I get whenever I watch Pokemon episodes on video/DVD by myself - I never get this "lonely" feeling when I watch Pokemon episodes on TV, therefore watching episodes on TV is A LOT more fun for me overall.

I understand the whole watching it on TV vs DVD thing.

Stuff like this just happens, I personally think the old episodes will be broadcasted on Boomerang again at some point but for now there's nothing you really can do but watch Pokemon other than during its broadcast.
The problem with the show is that they have so many episodes they barely have any idea what to do with all of them. I've watched the show plenty, but still haven't seen about a dozen episodes (Mostly early Jhoto) simply because there are TOO many.

There's a reason why I don't have any Avatar: The Last Airbender DVDs. Watching it on TV makes it more special.

Yeah, they should re-run older episodes (including ones from Johto and late Hoenn) that I missed. They would be fun to watch, to remind us of great memories, and to re-inforce certain lines for memorization. Those who cling to the "ancient" ways can still always find a friend.

@ Professor Hanbnauke:
They do? Hmmm...that sounds like Pokémon from the beginning (when it was aired on Fox Kids at 6 and 6:30 AM before popularity picked up; at least that's how I remember it (yes I know I said Fox Kids)). Too bad I'm en route to school around that time...

Yeah they are.

I see 4kids episodes every morning at 6:30.
Huh? O_O

But Habunake, I thought Pokemon Advanced Battle aired every weekday morning at 7:00 AM. Did they change their schedule?

If so, when did they change its time? Did this happen recently or something? Because I never noticed this.

And also, on an off-topic note, PrimeCupEevee, according to your location you're from "near Pittsburgh"? That is soooooo cool. XD Hehe, we live in the same area. Yay!! ^_^

I was gonna send you a PM to ask about something, but it seems as though you have PMs disabled. Oh well.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I live in the North Side. Are you near this area, by any chance? Oh, and by the way, you don't have to tell me where you live or anything like that. I just wanted to know if you lived "near me" because I'm curious, and I love meeting other Pokemon fans, lol. XD

CN constantly chages their schedule. One day it's at 5:00 PM, the next it's shoved in 6:30.

Get an alarm clock. It'll help

Yeah, lol, Jonouchi. XD

Hmm, for my Pokemon-rerun-watching-hobby, it looks like I'll have to wake up at 6:30 AM every day just to get my fix......

That's just great. Thank you CN for constantly changing your schedule around to NOT fit around my already establasted schedule (watching my Pokemon reruns in the evenings, which I loved doing so much and I thought that was perfect!!). X.X

That's okay though. As long as I can remember to get up at 6:30 every morning, I'll be fine. ^^

Honestsly, I really don't care what time Advanced Battle comes on, just as long as they still have a previous season on TV (anything from seasons 1 through 8).

In Canada, they have Seasons 5-8 running at 5 AM, and Chronicles (The old UK version) Wednesdays at 3:30 PM, and a new episode will air on Friday at 3:30 PM and Saturday at 1:00 PM. Now that Pasta La Vista is done as of last week (we're usually un sync or beyond the US airings, but BF and AB have been a different story, YTV took off AB for YGOGX for a little while, half-way through the Hoenn League Championship), we're starting back on Clamperl of Wisdom. PUSA forgot Canada existed.

Yeah, I didn't realize that CN changed Pokemon from 7am to 6:30am. I guess 7am starts their day, and anything before 7am is just random hour or something. :P In my opinion, 6:30 is pretty early for Pokemon to be on, and I think that's the earliest Pokemon has been on ever. (Aside from the overnight showings on Boomerang.)

^It was very early back when it first came on. That's one of my favourite memories of my childhood, waking up and watching Pokémon Indigo League back in '98-'99.

Of course everyone remembers that :P It would be on at 7:00am on KCOP Ch. 13. I think KCOP was the channel it was on, but I always remember that Pokemon would come on right after Sailor Moon. Haha, man...nostalgia. :'(

The last time Sailor Moon aired in the New York market was 1996 iirc. WPIX used to show that every weekday morning at 6:30am. By the time they picked up Pokemon, Sailor Moon was nowhere to be found on the schedule.

These days, CN doesn't like to air anything made before 2003. So that leaves out everything pre-AG.

It also looks like CN doesn't have the rights to Season 6 (for some reason), so that's out as well.

As far as Seasons 7 and Seasons 8...those reruns probably don't perform as well as the Season 9 reruns, so they don't get played as much. From CN's point of view, it makes tons of sense to air the episodes that rate well instead of the episodes that may not rate quite as well, so that's why we're not likely to see any pre-Season 9 episodes anytime soon.

Makes sense. But at the same time, that means eventually pre-BF won't be on CN with the way things are progressing, and if what Dogasu says is true. As time passes, the older stuff goes bye-bye. :x

Oh yeah, that's easy for you to say, Scott85. LOL.

However, when you're as poor as I am, having the chance to buy DVD box sets or even a few DVDs is very rare (seriously, I have next to nothing as far as money goes, and the same thing goes for my parents). *needs to get a job* X.X

But like I said, I prefer to watch Pokemon episodes on TV, because it's more fun that way (in my opinion). Though, I do like watching Pokemon episodes on video/DVD, just as long as I'm watching them with my friends.

Anyway, now that we're on the subject, I was lucky enough to have money to afford both Master Quest DVD box sets. :-D

And until now, I wasn't aware that anymore DVD box sets have been released. Other than season 5, which is what I just bought, I'm interested in getting seasons: 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.

Those are my favorite seasons, all of Johto and all of the Hoenn seasons (personally, I've never cared much for either the first or second seasons, compared to the later ones - but that's just me).

Anyway, what I wanna know is, do they have DVD box sets for any of the Johto or Hoenn seasons? I've seen single DVDs of each season, but I haven't seen DVD box sets for any of those seasons.

I don't believe they have a box set for either Johto Journeys or Johto League Champions (if they do have sets, then that's great!!). I never heard anything about that.

Actually, they do have a box set for Pokemon Advanced (season 6), because when I was on the Pokemon Center website recently, I found a DVD box set for that season (yay!!). I'm very interested in getting this season, because it hasn't been reran as much as the other seasons. If I remember correctly, KidsWB only went through this season once and never reaired it (for some reason). So yeah, I wanna watch this season all over again, because it has some great episodes.

And I think they might have a box set for either Advanced Challenge or Advanced Battle. But I have no idea. I really love both Advanced Challenge and Advanced Battle, so if they have box sets for those seasons, I'd be very happy.

These days, CN doesn't like to air anything made before 2003. So that leaves out everything pre-AG.
That's weird.

So, is that just CN's policy towards airing older seasons of a show? Or do you think there's some kinda law/contract thing against that?

It also looks like CN doesn't have the rights to Season 6 (for some reason), so that's out as well.
That's weird as well. I thought for sure we would've found out about this, at least by now anyway.

Dogasu, what do you think happened?

Also, is there any way that we could contact CN to find out why they don't have the rights to Pokemon Advanced?

Or would we have to contact 4Kids or the CW about that situation?

I mean, the whole thing with Pokemon Advanced is very strange. I remember when KidsWB originally aired that season, they would have new episodes on Saturday's as scheduled. But when they reran it on the weekdays, they only went through that season one time. And they never aired it again. I don't know why.

Oh, I see what you mean, Dogasu......

Yeah, that does make sense, seeing as how CN is all about getting the "best" ratings nowadays.

In that case, I'm glad that they are still playing Advanced Battle. ^_^

We're lucky that we're still getting at least one season that came before Battle Frontier. :-)

I just wish they had scheduled it at a later time (CN's schedule is soooooo screwy and messed up). I can still get up for Pokemon, of course, but I'll have to set my alarm clock for an earlier time.

And by the way, I agree with Dratini927, 6:30 AM is a bit too early for Pokemon to be airing. I don't know very many people, other than school kids, who would be awake at that time (but then again, I guess that would be their target audience anyway, lol).

Oh yeah, and one more thing, Dogasu, I might have asked this before, but I'll ask again because I'm curious. Speaking of the ratings for reruns, is there any way to find out what the ratings are for the Advanced Challenge and Advanced Battle seasons?

I know that season 7 isn't airing anymore, so there's probably no way to find out that information. But what about season 8?

Lisa, the first third of Indigo League is out. That's the first half of the first season.

Other than that, only MQ and Advanced were released, with the rest of Indigo League expected, then Johto Journeys/Champions, possibly the whole Orange saga on one set, and then AC.

Pokémon: Adventures on the Orange Islands DVDs have around twelve episodes each, and there are three dics to buy, which were released around 2001. It is unknown whether the Orange League will be included in the box set releases since they're on three DVDs as it is. The two Pallet episodes between Orange and Johto count as Orange episodes, apparently.

Oh, I see......

Well, that's good to know that they're releasing more Season One box sets and everything.

Though, like I said, I don't care much for the first season anyway, so I wouldn't be interested in getting that (also, I have most of the first season episodes on those "3 episode" VHS tapes - I have a BUNCH of those, lol).

And by the way, I already own the first Orange Island DVD, with the first 12 episodes of season two. In order to complete season two, I would just need to get the other 2 DVDs, I think.

Oh, and XD, you said that we are expecting to receive box sets for Johto Journeys and Champions? That sounds cool.

But what about Advanced Challenge and Advanced Battle? Can we expect to see box sets for those seasons as well? I love those seasons!! ^_^

I know what you mean, Lisa about how its more special to watch the reruns on TV than on DVD. I have almost all of the box sets that they have for Pokemon, except the second volume of Advance, but there almost all gifts. I watch them every weekday since I started doing that last year during those months when Pokemon was only on Saturday mornings.

Anyway, I haven't heard of any box sets for Advance Challenge or Advance Battle. What they usually do, as far as I've seen, is that they first release the single DVDs of the whole season first. Then after they do that, like a year or so, they start to release the season in two volumes. They might release a set for Advance Challenge later this year, but that's just my educated guess. As for the Orange Islands, I'm pretty sure that they'll put that on a box set too. The way that the seasons are divided up, as in 52 episodes per season, I would think that it would have to be included. The second volume of the season one would have Ash closer to getting more of the Kanto gym badges. The first volume of the second season would have the rest of the badge collection, Ash's Indigo League journey, and part of the Orange Islands. The second volume of the second season would finish off the Orange Islands.
