Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's latest Online Competition, Terastal Crescendo, was won by Takuro Suefuji alongside the Restricted Special Pokémon Miraidon and some more uncommon picks in Hippowdon and Chansey.
The event ran from 10-12 October 2025 and used a special ruleset in which trainers were limited to a selection of only two Pokémon from their team in each battle. Additionally, one of the two Pokémon was required to be either Koraidon or Miraidon. All Pokémon in the Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Pokédex, or those only available through transfer via Pokémon HOME, could be entered in the event, including Legendary and Paradox Pokémon. A full list of Pokémon available for use can be found here.

Top Pokémon
A lot of the best partners for the two Restricted Special Pokémon are very similar to official Video Game Championships (VGC) tournaments. Miraidon synergises well with future Paradox Pokémon such as Iron Bundle, Iron Hands, and Iron Treads, while Koraidon prefers the ancient Paradox Pokémon in Flutter Mane and Raging Bolt. One of the more unexpected Pokémon in these statistics is Hippowdon, a Pokémon that hasn't had notable placements in VGC for over 5 years. In this specific ruleset, however, Hippowdon functions as a great counter to both Koraidon and Miraidon. Its ability Sand Stream overrides the harsh sunlight set by Koraidon's signature ability Orichalcum Pulse; this both reduces the power of all Fire-type attacks and lowers Koraidon's Attack stat. When facing down other Miraidon, Hippowdon also has great value thanks to its immunity to Electric-type attacks as a Ground-type. With respectable defensive stats, Hippowdon can live a Dazzling Gleam from Miraidon and retaliate with a powerful Ground-type attack in High Horsepower or Earthquake. It tends to use either an Impish or Relaxed nature to boost its impressive Defense stat even further, holds the Electric Seed to gain another boost to its Defense after Miraidon sets up the Electric Terrain, and opts for a Fairy-type terastallization to resist Fighting-type attacks and gain an immunity to Dragon-type attacks.
