theme song even now as an adult I can say it's a generally well done song
the opening scene I think it's well done grabbing your attention as a kid it wasn't that surprising it grabbed my interest
the acting I felt the acting in the English dub was generally well done the only real irritating thing being meowth's voice
the writing I felt like their was a near perfect balance between the more serious emotional moments as well as comedic I found Delia and prof. oak to be at about the funniest they ever been
the characters most of the character's were handled really well bizarrely I found Delia and prof. oak to be at some of their most entertaining in this episode
ash and Pikachu it was interesting to see the dislike between Pikachu and ash with both the emotional moments and the comedic
ash and misty l like they way they bounce of each other as characters right start having a interesting to watch dynamic
the final scene I think it was handled really well from ash's speech the animation the music just everything made sure it would entice the viewers back
cons
the quietly of the animation looks pretty shoddy and off putting but even then their' s something appealing about it from the inner child point of view
the characters Gary he and his cheerleaders were the worse irritating characters in the episode
continuality flaws ash and Gary acting like they didn't know each other with you generous you could say it's because Gary doesn't want to admit to knowing ash but it still comes across weird
the slap it feels slightly weird to watch when it's blatantly clear that misty slapped him I wonder if they could have kept it in the dub where it didn't appear to be that violent

the spearow attack the way ash tries to protect Pikachu even when his been nothing but a jerk to him
the character's meeting for the first it's really interesting to see them meet for the first time knowing where things head for them
