Does anyone know where 4Kids got most of the stuff showed in the 4th Opening? I don't think it's in any of the Japanese ones.

That was an opening made exclusively for the English dub, by the JP animators themselves. It is the only time that has happened.

So pretty much, 4Kids, or whoever/whatever just wanted new footage, and the guys down at who ever draws Pokémon just do it. Lazy, Lazy.

Well at least we now know that the original writers DO have a small amount of concern over the English dub.

That, or 4kids just paid them to do it like they did with the added scenes in Pokemon 4ever.

i think he means that 4kids was being lazy by not doing it themselves.

4kids is a dubbing company, and it's not like they can just imitate the art style that the original artists use.

The Japanese made the footage and 4Kids/TAJ did the opening. You can tell because some scenes from episodes and Japanese intros appeared, something the Japanese creators would never do.

Always made me wonder if 4Kids/TAJ let some new footage go to waste...

Also, I wonder why they didn't just use content from the fourth Japanese opening...maybe it was suited enough for the song? Anyway, the fifth opening, Believe in Me, uses some footage from the fourth and fifth Japanese openings.

you don't know that, if they have enough money to blow away on digital paint programs to visually edit the stuff (to most if not all anime fans displeasure), then who's to say they can't create the images/animation themselves? not to mention the fact that they are the ones behind several shows that imitate anime like Chaotic and Kappa Mikey (i know it's shocking that they created such a decent show like KM but it's true), so they clearly have the programs to do it with... i think.

You can't imitate an art style, and the Japanese opening was probably not done with digital art, so it would probably be very noticable if 4kids tried to come up with their own.

Yeah, that would've sucked if 4Kids ever tried to make their own opening animation for Pokemon. *shudders*

Anyway though, wow, I had no idea they asked their Japanese counterparts to animate the 4th opening for them (or commissioned it - like they did with the scenes in Pokemon 4Ever).

That's awesome!! ^^

4Kids did this with Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie: Pyramid of Light and a twelve episode spin-off called Yu-Gi-Oh!: Capsule Monsters.

The movie was later released in Japan, too, with an extra scene! But Capsule Monsters hasn't yet...maybe because most fans thought it sucked...but as always, I was the one person who liked it. It was like Pokémon, sort of, but with YGO characters.

It was, I believe, at the same time as they got that extra bit added to Pokemon 4Ever. Wouldn't surprise me if it was simply a two-for-one deal.

Uh...Kappa Mikey isn't flash animated by 4kids themselves, they just sometimes lend voice actors.

Chaotic's TV series is animated by Bardel Entertainment, 4kids just distributes and finances it.

While that is true, 4Kids likes to claim Kappa Mikey as one of their shows every once and a while.

Kappa Mikey is horrid...

Oh, and the 4th Opening American Animation is pretty neat, but it's definately made by OLM.

Needless to say the animation was pretty nice in that opening, but why could 4Kids just use some anime clips and a few from the original opening?
or *dare I say* change the song?(Let's face it, that song pwns)

It had nothing to do with the song or anything, it's apparently the names of the Pokemon written in Japanese that flew under them were hard to edit out.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. That makes a heck of a lot more sense. Well all know we can't have Japanese it the ENGLISH version. (Not sarcasm.) And using clips for stricly the show itself is pretty tough, so I can see where 4Kids was coming from with this.
