Prologue-Returning to Pallet
In the world live creatures known as Pokemon. Humans and Pokemon have co-existed together for thousands of years. There are over 400 known species of Pokemon in the world of many kinds. Many live in the woods while others would live in the scorching deserts and freeezing tundras. Other types of Pokemon live in the wide spread grasslands. There are some who live deep in the ocean and soar high in the skies.
There are still many mysteries surrounding Pokemon and hundreds more left waiting to be discovered. To find out more Pokemon, many scientists such as Professor Krane of the Orre region have dedicated their lives to research.
There are many ways that people bond with their Pokemon. Some become Coordinators and participate in Pokemon Contests in a great mix of battles and showing off. Others would fight Gym Leaders and participate in League Competitions and become Pokemon Masters. Some would later become Pokemon researchers.
There are some people who mistreat Pokemon and use them for their own evil, selfish purposes like Team Rocket. Yet, one criminal organization was most infamous and is Cipher, a group who steals Pokemon from their trainers and corrupt them by closing their hearts. It was thought that Cipher was put to a end when Michael, a young teenage trainer with his Jolteon managed to take down the organization and its leader Grand Master Greevil. After taking down Cipher, he partcipated in the newly established Orre Colosseum Circuit and the Champion Eagun and left for Kanto.

During the night in northern Orre, a transport magnet train was passing through the region from Sinnoh. It worked with magnets to hover over the tracks. The monorail was painted black and white along its side and titled the Silph Magnet Line, an expansion project of the current Magnet Line overseen by Silph Co. to allow communications between Sinnoh and Orre.
It was currently passing through a mountainous area and had to slow down due to the sharp turns in the area. While passing through the mountains on their way to Gateon Port, it was ambushed by a squadron of helicoptors and people came out of the choppers entering into the train. The driver attempted to speed up but saw a bunch of large boulders blocking the way and a large creature with menacing eyes with only shining rainbow wings to distinguish it from the night. The train driver attempted to stop the train in order to save the Pokemon in transport and it fell out of the tracks and went on its side.
The driver went out the window and was frightened to see men pull out Pokemon, but they had a sort of dark aura. He broke out the door and tried to escape and was right in front of the creature which made a strong screech that frightened the driver to the woods. It grabbed the train and flew into the night sky with the helicoptors following it. He went as far he can and knew what he saw.
"Cipher's back...." Said the driver looking on as the creature and helicoptors disappeared in the night sky.
"I have to tell the police..." He ran into the woods into the nearest town to tell the authorities.

This is the adventures of Ash Ketchum and his pal Pikachu as after their adventures in Sinnoh have ended and the gang has split up. With Dawn said she was heading home after winning the Sinnoh Grand Festival while Brock was called up to home not to soon after the Sinnoh Championships had ended to tell him that he had to take care of his siblingsd since they were on a third honeymoon. Ash was walking with Pikachu on his shoulder with Brock.
"This is where we part, Ash." says Brock looking at the fork on the road.
"Yup....I guess this is good-bye. So why you're needed in Pewter?"
Brock began explaining,"Well, my mom persuaded my dad to go on a third honeymoon to head over to the Hoenn region."
"That's nice.....so what about your siblings?" asked Ash
Brock was sad,"Well, I got stuck babysitting again...hopefully not for too long."
"Hey Brock, do you know how Misty and May are doing?" Wondered Ash of his two most closest female friends.
"That reminds me. Misty from I got via e-mail said that she was getting ready for a Water Pokemon convention in a place far away."
"Did it say where she is going to go?" Ash asked.
Brock read the email,"She didn't exactly give details.."
Ash then felt disappointed,"Ohhh...Well at least she's happy being the Cerulean Gym Leader."
"Oh I almost forgot, I heard from May."
Brock takes off his backpack and pulls out a postcard,"May had done good in the Grand Festival managing to reach a tie with Drew. She says right now they are dating and are staying over at Olivine."
"DREW??", Ash was shocked since when he first saw Drew, he was like a younger green-haired version of his former rival Gary Oak. It was surprising to him that they became a couple." You got to be joking."
"If you weren't so dense......." Brock was going to say something
Ash was angry,"How am i dense? Do you believe that Pikachu?"
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was nodding its head up and down agreeing with Brock's statment.
"You too?"
"Look Ash I understand that your present goals so far is to be a Pokemon Master. Am I right?" Ash could tell that Brock was being serious this time
"Yea you knew that all along since the day you joined me on my journey and the adventures through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh. What about that?"
Brock put his arm on Ash's shoulder,"I understand that you want to be the best but don't you think it's time to think of life after reaching your goal. You're probably the only one your age who hasn't or now has a girlfriend. I mean look at Gary. He's dating and he's a total jerk."
"What do you mean?"
"You know wha. Forget it...you'll get it soon." Looking again at the right path which leads to Pewter,"Well I have to go..see ya Ash." Gives Ash a small black case.
"Hey what's this, Brock?" looks at it.
"Oh I know that I won't be with you for a while and since you liked my cooking. I saved some leftovers of food and put it in this case. This can hopefully keep you full for at least a couple of days."
"Thanks Brock" They shake hands and go their seperate ways as Ash and Pikachu walk to Pallet Town while Brock looks at them.
"Good-bye Ash....Good luck to where you go next. Good-bye Pikachu!" Brock is waving his hand to his two friends
"Bye Brock.." Ash waves his hand until he couldn't see Brock anymore
"Pika-pi!!" Pikachu was on Ash's shoulder waving its front paw saying good-bye. He sees Ash saddened at the fact for the first time since he started his journey, he is only with Pikachu.
"Pika-Pika" Pikachu asked to is trainer on what is going to happen next.
"I don't know, Pikachu. For now, let's chill in Pallet Town and plan our next adventure. I need to put my Sinnoh Pokemon in Professor Oak's lab.."
Ash and Pikachu walk through the grasslands and woodlands between Pewter and Virdian. There he sees young amateur trainers battling in the woods or catching wild Pokemon. He wished he was with someone so he can have company and decided along the way walking to Virdian City to remember all the adventures he had so far......

It was around the late afternoon around 5 P.M and after a few hours getting lost, he found his way past the Virdian Forest and was only a few miles. He knew he didn't have Max with him to use the Pokenav or Brock who was sort of handy with the map. Ash and Pikachu went past a few bushes and saw themselves right in a hill overlooking Virdian
"Pika-pikachu!!!" Pikachu looked in awe since it haven't seen the buzzing metropolis for some time now.
"I know Pikachu...Virdian seems beautiful this time of year. It has really increased in size. I never seen skyscrapers that tall in Virdian."
"Pika"
"I wonder if Agatha is still the Gym Leader of Virdian City."
He remembers the last time he visited Virdian City after the Hoenn League Championships when he saw an old woman who revealed herself to be Agatha, one of the Kanto League Elite Four, was serving as temporary gym leader of Virdian after its gym leader disappeared.
"Why don't we visit the Virdian Gym? What do you say Pikachu?"
"Pika-pi" It nodded in agreement wanting to go see.
"Let's go then Pikachu to Virdian"
While walking along the road to Virdian, they saw Officer Jenny rides in a policemotorcycle with her Growlithe, standard Pokemon for the PoliceKorps of Kanto. She waved to Ash and his Pikachu.
Jenny asked,"Hey, aren't you Ash Ketchum who went into second place in the Sinnoh Championships a few days ago."
"Yeah...I am...Did you watch the Sinnoh Championships?" Ash asked Officer Jenny.
"Of course. It makes me proud to see a fellow Kanto native represent his region in the Sinnoh Championships. Can I have your autograph please?"
Ash was blushing that he had a fan,"Well of course, do you have a pen?"
"Here you go." Hands him her blue pen,"Make it out to Officer Jenny."
Ash finished signing it and hands back the pad,"Here you go...mind doing me a favor Officer Jenny?"
"Sure..anything to help the second place winner of the Sinnoh League Championships." Officer Jenny seemed willing to do anything.
"Will you be willing to give me and Pikachu a ride to Virdian?" Ash asked her.
"Of course.." looks o her Growlithe who was sitting by the passenger seat, "Return Growlithe." She returns Growlithe to its Pokeball and Ash hangs on right in back of Jenny.
"Hang on tight....guys." Officer Jenny with Ash and Pikachu on back ride into Virdian in high speed getting pass all the traffic in the highway.

Ash and Pikachu and Officer Jenny ride on the motorcycle throught the bustling streets of Virdians filled with amateur trainers buying Pokeballs and having battles with one another. They arrive at the Virdian Gym repaired and renovated and under the charge of a new Gym Leader ever since Giovanni,found to be the head of Team Rocket disappeared.
Ash and Pikachu go off the bike,"Thanks Officer Jenny. This is my stop."
"Okay bye Ash and Pikachu. Hope you enjoy your stay in Virdian."
"Okay I will. Bye." Ash waves his hand in good-bye as Officer Jenny rode off into the wind.
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was waving his little paw in thanks.
Ash turns around and sees the Virdian Gym, ever since he had left for the Battle Frontier has been fully repaired and expanded in size. He was in awe to see the large gym.
"Pika-pi" Said the little Pikachu who decided to walk on the streets.
Ash looked on,"It has gotten bigger since we last visited. I wonder where Agatha is???"

A few blocks away, came a familar brown-haired spiky haired kid wearing a black shirt and khaki pants carrying a bunch of boxes with his Blastoise helping moving into the Gym.Gary was across the street with his Blastoise getting into the gym.
"I can't believe out of all the people they had to choose to become Gym Leader of this town...they had to pick me."
"Blast..." Blastoise seemed to be in agreement.
Gary continued complaining,"Ever since I got beat by Ash back in the Silver Conference, my life has gone down the toilet. I may have lost all my fame and respect but at least I have something to do other than live in the shadow of my friend."
"I wondered what ever happened to the other Gym Leader...."
"Blast..oise" Blastoise dropped his boxes on the street and Gary put his down to see what was bothering his Blastoise.
"What's wrong Blastoise?" Blastoise points his large blue paw to Ash Ketchum with Pikachu on the ground looking around for the Gym Leader.
"I wonder why he's in Virdian..I thought he was in Sinnoh. Oh well, might as well say hi to my former rival." Blastoise nodded and they walked over to say Ash.
Gary and Blastoise were nearby where Ash and Pikachu were who were still looking around the street not seeing Agatha.
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was scratching its yellow head imitating what its trainer was doing.
"I guess she's not here...might as well head back to Pallet."
Pikachu nodded in agreement and it jumped back to Ash's shoulder as they were about to leave.
"Hey Ashy-loser! You going to leave without saying hi to me." Said a familar voice to Ash.
"That can't be who I think it is", Ash turns around and sees Gary in his black shirt and khaki pants," Gary??"
"Yea, surprise! surprise! Thought that I was still in the Sinnoh region studying Pokemon?" Gary was laughing knowing that Ash have not seen in a year.
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was in shock and began talking to Blastoise of the reason why they in Virdian.
"Yea I did. Why the hell you're in Virdian and what's up with all those boxes." Ash was wondering.
Gary scoffed at Ash,"Is that how you treat an old friend? I say hi and you say why the hell I'm here. No wonder you're by yourself. Where's your girlfriend Misty?"
"She is not my girlfriend, Gary!" He explained of Misty's absence. "Where are your cheerleader squad, Gary?" Ash soon remembered the cheerleader squad that used to follow him in his early years as a trainer in Kanto and Johto." Ash ever asked with curiosity.
"I can blame you for the lost of my cheerleaders. Ever since I lost to you at the Silver Conference, it looked like they found someone else to cheer for and I got left in the dust." Gary was putting the blame on him.
Ash shrugged with Pikachu,"Hey...the better trainer won fair and square." Ash looked at the bozes that Gary was leaning on."Hey Gary, do you know what happened to Agatha? What's with the boxes?"
"Oh yeah, Agatha retired from the Elite Four and in effect, gave up the gym leader title to this town a while ago. The Elite Four decided to look up experienced trainers as candidates to run the Gym."
Ash looks at the boxes again,"So what are you Gary? You couldn't be a Pokemon researcher like your grandpa so now your a delivery guy for the New Gym Leader here."
"Actually if you must know, you're looking at the new Virdian City Gym Leader." Gary stated in his former prideful way.
Ash's jaw dropped as his neighbor and former rival had become the new Gym Leader and didn't believe it,"When did that happen? I thought you were going to be a Pokemon researcher."
Gary responded,"I thought my career as a Pokemon researcher was going to be permanent but not after I losed to you, Lance battled me and I won which she said i was going to be a candidate to be a Gym Leader. Not after you were in second place, I was confirmed by the League to become a Gym Leader."
Ash was well impressed,"So I'm assuming your Pokemon is more powerful than the last time we fought." Ash said
"I guess so...." Gary knew what Ash wanted to do and decided to say it himself,"So you wanna battle, Ash?"
"You read my mind Gary!" Ash and Gary head inside the Gym arena and they each went to their own side. Gary called one of his referees to come and referee the battle.

While Ash tells Gary of his adventures with Brock and Dawn over in the Sinnoh region, Jessie, James and Meowth were in their Team Rocket Meowth Balloon lost for days since they lost track of the twerps since they split up back at Sinnoh
"I'm so hungry.."said James
"Mime-Mime" Said James' Mime Jr. who was hungry as well.
Jessie looked down from the balloon looking at the beautiful Kanto grasslands with her goggles,"Now where are we?"
Wobuffet comes out of its ball,"Wobbbafet!!!" It put its arm in the form of a salute and Jessie quickly returned it to its Pokeball.
"It's been days since we seen the twerps..." said Meowth who's stomach was growling,"I could use some baby back ribs."
"Are you checking the map?" asked Jessie who was wondering where they were.
James and Mime Jr. was getting from their bag, an old PDA that was bought in a pawn shop and was looking over a holographic image of the Kanto region.
A holographic voice made,"Location is in the Kanto region in the vicinity north of Virdian City.Mime Jr. packs up the PDA.
"Where are we again ?" asked Meowth
"It's days like this that make me want to stop chasing those twerps." James said.
"What are you sayin' James?" Said Meowth,"Just because for the past 7 years we had failed to capture Pikachu or any Pokemon by the way.
Jessie said,"You guys would think in those seven years, we would've had something for the Boss. Maybe we should just quit."
Meowth angry does Fury Swipes on both James and Jessie.
"What did you do that for?????" They said in unison with a angry tone.
"Sure, we may have not caught any Pokemon especially Pikachu but we had never gave up and with failure, comes learning so each time you get better. We did conquer Hoenn and Sinnoh for Pokemon."
James said,"Don't you mean they conuered us? The twerps did the work and we got blasted off."
"Who cares about the minor details. It was the three of us that survived, now the Boss is definetely going to make us Admins of our own branch." Meowth said.
Jessie jumped up in a renewed sense of confidence,"Meowth, you're right! Through thick and thin, we'll won't stop until Pikachu is ours!"
"That's right!" Meowth and James said in unison

Gary Oak and Ash Ketchum decided to have a small battle for old time's sake. The referee was there and agreed to supervise the Pokemon battle and they entered the battlefield, the same as it was when Ash challenged the gym.
Gary grinned, "Just because I'm no longer your rival doesn't mean I'll give you a run for your money," He grabbed one of his Pokeballs.
"I'm sure you will after all you're the Gym Leader of the Virdian Gym now! So are you ready?" Ash said
Gary smiled, "Of course!"
The referee came in, "This is a two on two friendly battle between the Virdian Gym Leader Gary Oak and the challenger Ash Ketchum. The challenger will go first. Only the Gym Leader may use substitutions."
Ash smiled and threw his Pokeball, "Let's go Aipom!!"
"Ehhh...Ooo...Ahhh...EEeee" Aipom was ready to battle.
Gary said, "Hmmmm...an Aipom. Come on out Scizor!"
"Scizor!!" It showed off its claws to Aipom to intimidate it...
The referee lowered his flag, "NOW BEGIN!!!"
"Now Aipom! Use Swift!!" The Monkey Pokemon jumped up in the air and with its hand-tail, unleashed a Swift Attack right for Scizor.
Gary ordered, "Dodge it and use Quick Attack!!!" Scizor nodded and jumped high in the air at top speed and went quickly hitting Aipom causing much damage.
Ash was thinking, 'That Scizor of Gary's sure became quicker since the Silver Conference but my Aipom can still take his Pokemon down.' "Now Aipom use Mach Punch on Scizor's chest!" With Scizor being in such close contact with Aipom, it was easy for it to punch Scizor with much difficulty causing it to fly into the ground. "Ha!! Looks like we beat your Scizor, huh Gary??"
Gary tapped into the mind of Scizor, 'Okay Scizor. We fooled Ashy-boy and his Aipom. I want you to use a Hyper Beam on Aipom.' Scizor right before landing hard on the ground delivered a Hyper Beam knocking out Aipom.
"AIPOM!!!!!" screamed Ash running to the fallen Pokemon, "Are you okay??"
"EH......" Aipom fainted and Ash returned it to its Pokeball while Scizor was returned to its Pokeball.
The referee said, "Aipom is unable to battle. Scizor is the winner!"
"Wow Ashy-boy. I expected much from the runner-up from the Sinnoh Championships," Gary laughed.
Ash smiled, "I was just testing you," looks to Pikachu, "Ready buddy?"
"Pika-PIKA!!!!"
Gary smiled, "Your first Pokemon? I always wanted to battle again your Pikachu so lets see if your first Pokemon could handle mines. GO BLASTOISE!!"
"BLASTOISE!!!!" It flexed its large body and gave a glaring look to it.
The referee said, "BEGIN!!!"
"Blastoise use Hydro Cannon!!" This shocked Ash, as only the most powerful Water Starter Pokemon could learn this rare, yet powerful attack and he couldn't even teach it to his Squirtle or Totodile. Blastoise using its cannons sprayed a huge load of water right for Pikachu.
Ash ordered, "Let's dodge that and use Quick Attack!" Pikachu quickly dodged the water blast and with its agility hit Blastoise pretty hard.
"Nice moves...let's see if you'll dodge this. Use Water Pulse on Pikachu!!!," grinned the spiky-haired Gym Leader.
'Wow he's really going to scare with me with a Water Pulse. Doesn't he know that Water-type moves are not that effective on Electric," He thought and ordered, "Pikachu! Jump high in the air and dodge that attack!" It jumped in the air seeming to have missed the Water Pulse
Gary begins to laugh uncontrollably, "Hehehehehehehehe..."
"What so funny Gary," said an annoyed Ash, "Let me in on the joke."
Gary said, "That Water Pulse that Pikachu dodged is still there. Look behind you." Ash turned and saw a watery ball right above him. "NOW BLASTOISE AIM FOR PIKACHU!!!" The Water Pulse hit Pikachu very hard and yet in anger, sparks were flying over the we battlefield.
"Looks like you made Pikachu mad! Pikachu use Volt Tackle!!" Ash pointed to Blastoise. Pikachu began running to Blastoise eventually becoming a quick, yellow ball of electricity and the heavy Water-type couldn't dodge it making it fall to the ground and faint.
"Blastoise!!" Gary was surprised that his mightiest Pokemon in his roster has fallen to the little cute electric rat.
"Blastoise is unable to battle and Pikachu is the winner," said the referee which caused Ash to shout in joy and hug the little Electric type giving it compliments.
Gary screamed, "HEY ASHY-LOSER!!! ITS NOT OVER 'TIL ITS OVER! GO MAGMAR!!" The Pokeball was thrown unto the battlefield and the Pokeball materialized into Gary's Magmar which showed off its large, flaming body to the electric rodent.
"You still have enough energy, buddy to destroy Gary's Magmar?" He asked the little rodent in his arms and the little rodent nodded and jumped back on the field.
"BEGIN!!!!!!!!," shouted the referee.
Ash then shouted, "Okay Pikachu use Thunder!!!!"
"Magmar! Use Ember!!" Gary ordered. At the same time, both Pokemon unleashed their attacks injuring them both but Pikachu's attack managed to take down Magmar causing it to faint
"Magmar is unable to battle and Pikachu is the winn....." The referee was about to say but Pikachu didn't have a scratch.
"Magmar is unable to battle. Pikachu is the winner. The challenger won the match." The referee said.

Gary and Ash were now outside the city and congratulating his old rival for the amazing first battle as the new Gym Leader. It was the late afternoon at around 6:30 PM and Ash was on his way to Pallet and the sun was setting over the golden sky.
"Hey Ash, that was a good battle. I didn't have a good battle like that with someone for a long time. Better than those challengers today...."
Ash responded,"Only you can guarantee a great battle, Gary. Not even the trainers up north in Sinnoh were as good as you, man."
"So Ashy-boy, so where are you going next?" asked Gary.
Ash scratched his head,"Hmmmm...I don't know. I been to pretty much everywhere as far as I know."
"Oh Ashy-boy, no matter how good you are. There will be better trainers." Gary whispers to Ash,"There's a region north of Johto known as the Orre region. It's a very arid region and many of the toughest trainers gather there and they recently have something called the Orre Colosseum Circuit."
"Orre?" Ash was questioning since he never heard of the place,"Why come I never heard of this place from my parents?"
"It used to be very infamous for its crime. That's what I heard from my pen-pal Rui that it is."
Ash was wondering,"Okay, thanks Gary. I think I might pay a visit to the Orre region so when the next ferry?"
Gary goes on his PDA and goes searching the information on ferry schedules to head to Orre from Pallet Town."It's tomorrow and all you have to do is show your Trainer Card."
"Hey what's that thing there?" Ash was wondering at the multimedia disc-shaped item that Gary was using with his stylus.
"Oh this little thing. Grandpa gave this while he was visiting his collegague Professor Krane. It's an old model since it has the email function, map and radio function only."
Ash was very curious and wanted to know about the Orre region,"Who is this Professor Krane and what does he specialize in?"
"How can you not know about Professor Krane? He's like Grandpa here...he's very famous ever since him and a collegague invented the Purify Chamber and a modified version of the Snag Machine." Closes his PDA
"What is the Purify Chamber?" Ash was rather curious that Gary knew about these things and Ash didn't.
"Okay. Have you heard of Shadow Pokemon?"
"No."
"They are Pokemon who are corrupted and their hearts are closed making them cold-hearted battle machines." Gary explained to Ash.
"Don't worry Ash, it has at least three years since Orre has seen Shadow Pokemon. It's a pretty untamed region of mainly arid deserts in the south and the many mountains in the north."
Gary looks at his watch,"Well my assistants at the gym must be worried and it is getting late so I got to go."
"Okay I guess this is good-bye Gary. I hope you enjoy your new Gym Leader position."
"Well, it was good to see you Ashy-boy. Good luck on everything you do."
Ash with Pikachu on his shoulders begins walking away from Gary in the path to Pallet Town. Ash and Pikachu said their good-byes to Gary Oak and are now en route to Pallet Town.
"So, Pikachu.." Ash from hearing of what Gary said decided to head to the Orre region as his next destination,"Looks like Orre is going to the next place we're gonna travel buddy!"
"Pika-Pika-pi" Pikachu agreed on their destination and were now headed back to Pallet to take the ferry to Gateon. What they didn't know of the dark forces emerging out of somewhere far away...

There are some people who mistreat Pokemon and use them for their own evil, selfish purposes like Team Rocket. Yet, one criminal organization was most infamous and is Cipher, a group who steals Pokemon from their trainers and corrupt them by closing their hearts. It was thought that Cipher was put to a end when Michael, a young teenage trainer with his Jolteon managed to take down the organization and its leader Grand Master Greevil. After taking down Cipher, he partcipated in the newly established Orre Colosseum Circuit and the Champion Eagun and left for Kanto.

During the night in northern Orre, a transport magnet train was passing through the region from Sinnoh. It worked with magnets to hover over the tracks. The monorail was painted black and white along its side and titled the Silph Magnet Line, an expansion project of the current Magnet Line overseen by Silph Co. to allow communications between Sinnoh and Orre.
It was currently passing through a mountainous area and had to slow down due to the sharp turns in the area. While passing through the mountains on their way to Gateon Port, it was ambushed by a squadron of helicoptors and people came out of the choppers entering into the train. The driver attempted to speed up but saw a bunch of large boulders blocking the way and a large creature with menacing eyes with only shining rainbow wings to distinguish it from the night. The train driver attempted to stop the train in order to save the Pokemon in transport and it fell out of the tracks and went on its side.
The driver went out the window and was frightened to see men pull out Pokemon, but they had a sort of dark aura. He broke out the door and tried to escape and was right in front of the creature which made a strong screech that frightened the driver to the woods. It grabbed the train and flew into the night sky with the helicoptors following it. He went as far he can and knew what he saw.
"Cipher's back...." Said the driver looking on as the creature and helicoptors disappeared in the night sky.
"I have to tell the police..." He ran into the woods into the nearest town to tell the authorities.

This is the adventures of Ash Ketchum and his pal Pikachu as after their adventures in Sinnoh have ended and the gang has split up. With Dawn said she was heading home after winning the Sinnoh Grand Festival while Brock was called up to home not to soon after the Sinnoh Championships had ended to tell him that he had to take care of his siblingsd since they were on a third honeymoon. Ash was walking with Pikachu on his shoulder with Brock.
"This is where we part, Ash." says Brock looking at the fork on the road.
"Yup....I guess this is good-bye. So why you're needed in Pewter?"
Brock began explaining,"Well, my mom persuaded my dad to go on a third honeymoon to head over to the Hoenn region."
"That's nice.....so what about your siblings?" asked Ash
Brock was sad,"Well, I got stuck babysitting again...hopefully not for too long."
"Hey Brock, do you know how Misty and May are doing?" Wondered Ash of his two most closest female friends.
"That reminds me. Misty from I got via e-mail said that she was getting ready for a Water Pokemon convention in a place far away."
"Did it say where she is going to go?" Ash asked.
Brock read the email,"She didn't exactly give details.."
Ash then felt disappointed,"Ohhh...Well at least she's happy being the Cerulean Gym Leader."
"Oh I almost forgot, I heard from May."
Brock takes off his backpack and pulls out a postcard,"May had done good in the Grand Festival managing to reach a tie with Drew. She says right now they are dating and are staying over at Olivine."
"DREW??", Ash was shocked since when he first saw Drew, he was like a younger green-haired version of his former rival Gary Oak. It was surprising to him that they became a couple." You got to be joking."
"If you weren't so dense......." Brock was going to say something
Ash was angry,"How am i dense? Do you believe that Pikachu?"
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was nodding its head up and down agreeing with Brock's statment.
"You too?"
"Look Ash I understand that your present goals so far is to be a Pokemon Master. Am I right?" Ash could tell that Brock was being serious this time
"Yea you knew that all along since the day you joined me on my journey and the adventures through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh. What about that?"
Brock put his arm on Ash's shoulder,"I understand that you want to be the best but don't you think it's time to think of life after reaching your goal. You're probably the only one your age who hasn't or now has a girlfriend. I mean look at Gary. He's dating and he's a total jerk."
"What do you mean?"
"You know wha. Forget it...you'll get it soon." Looking again at the right path which leads to Pewter,"Well I have to go..see ya Ash." Gives Ash a small black case.
"Hey what's this, Brock?" looks at it.
"Oh I know that I won't be with you for a while and since you liked my cooking. I saved some leftovers of food and put it in this case. This can hopefully keep you full for at least a couple of days."
"Thanks Brock" They shake hands and go their seperate ways as Ash and Pikachu walk to Pallet Town while Brock looks at them.
"Good-bye Ash....Good luck to where you go next. Good-bye Pikachu!" Brock is waving his hand to his two friends
"Bye Brock.." Ash waves his hand until he couldn't see Brock anymore
"Pika-pi!!" Pikachu was on Ash's shoulder waving its front paw saying good-bye. He sees Ash saddened at the fact for the first time since he started his journey, he is only with Pikachu.
"Pika-Pika" Pikachu asked to is trainer on what is going to happen next.
"I don't know, Pikachu. For now, let's chill in Pallet Town and plan our next adventure. I need to put my Sinnoh Pokemon in Professor Oak's lab.."
Ash and Pikachu walk through the grasslands and woodlands between Pewter and Virdian. There he sees young amateur trainers battling in the woods or catching wild Pokemon. He wished he was with someone so he can have company and decided along the way walking to Virdian City to remember all the adventures he had so far......

It was around the late afternoon around 5 P.M and after a few hours getting lost, he found his way past the Virdian Forest and was only a few miles. He knew he didn't have Max with him to use the Pokenav or Brock who was sort of handy with the map. Ash and Pikachu went past a few bushes and saw themselves right in a hill overlooking Virdian
"Pika-pikachu!!!" Pikachu looked in awe since it haven't seen the buzzing metropolis for some time now.
"I know Pikachu...Virdian seems beautiful this time of year. It has really increased in size. I never seen skyscrapers that tall in Virdian."
"Pika"
"I wonder if Agatha is still the Gym Leader of Virdian City."
He remembers the last time he visited Virdian City after the Hoenn League Championships when he saw an old woman who revealed herself to be Agatha, one of the Kanto League Elite Four, was serving as temporary gym leader of Virdian after its gym leader disappeared.
"Why don't we visit the Virdian Gym? What do you say Pikachu?"
"Pika-pi" It nodded in agreement wanting to go see.
"Let's go then Pikachu to Virdian"
While walking along the road to Virdian, they saw Officer Jenny rides in a policemotorcycle with her Growlithe, standard Pokemon for the PoliceKorps of Kanto. She waved to Ash and his Pikachu.
Jenny asked,"Hey, aren't you Ash Ketchum who went into second place in the Sinnoh Championships a few days ago."
"Yeah...I am...Did you watch the Sinnoh Championships?" Ash asked Officer Jenny.
"Of course. It makes me proud to see a fellow Kanto native represent his region in the Sinnoh Championships. Can I have your autograph please?"
Ash was blushing that he had a fan,"Well of course, do you have a pen?"
"Here you go." Hands him her blue pen,"Make it out to Officer Jenny."
Ash finished signing it and hands back the pad,"Here you go...mind doing me a favor Officer Jenny?"
"Sure..anything to help the second place winner of the Sinnoh League Championships." Officer Jenny seemed willing to do anything.
"Will you be willing to give me and Pikachu a ride to Virdian?" Ash asked her.
"Of course.." looks o her Growlithe who was sitting by the passenger seat, "Return Growlithe." She returns Growlithe to its Pokeball and Ash hangs on right in back of Jenny.
"Hang on tight....guys." Officer Jenny with Ash and Pikachu on back ride into Virdian in high speed getting pass all the traffic in the highway.

Ash and Pikachu and Officer Jenny ride on the motorcycle throught the bustling streets of Virdians filled with amateur trainers buying Pokeballs and having battles with one another. They arrive at the Virdian Gym repaired and renovated and under the charge of a new Gym Leader ever since Giovanni,found to be the head of Team Rocket disappeared.
Ash and Pikachu go off the bike,"Thanks Officer Jenny. This is my stop."
"Okay bye Ash and Pikachu. Hope you enjoy your stay in Virdian."
"Okay I will. Bye." Ash waves his hand in good-bye as Officer Jenny rode off into the wind.
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was waving his little paw in thanks.
Ash turns around and sees the Virdian Gym, ever since he had left for the Battle Frontier has been fully repaired and expanded in size. He was in awe to see the large gym.
"Pika-pi" Said the little Pikachu who decided to walk on the streets.
Ash looked on,"It has gotten bigger since we last visited. I wonder where Agatha is???"

A few blocks away, came a familar brown-haired spiky haired kid wearing a black shirt and khaki pants carrying a bunch of boxes with his Blastoise helping moving into the Gym.Gary was across the street with his Blastoise getting into the gym.
"I can't believe out of all the people they had to choose to become Gym Leader of this town...they had to pick me."
"Blast..." Blastoise seemed to be in agreement.
Gary continued complaining,"Ever since I got beat by Ash back in the Silver Conference, my life has gone down the toilet. I may have lost all my fame and respect but at least I have something to do other than live in the shadow of my friend."
"I wondered what ever happened to the other Gym Leader...."
"Blast..oise" Blastoise dropped his boxes on the street and Gary put his down to see what was bothering his Blastoise.
"What's wrong Blastoise?" Blastoise points his large blue paw to Ash Ketchum with Pikachu on the ground looking around for the Gym Leader.
"I wonder why he's in Virdian..I thought he was in Sinnoh. Oh well, might as well say hi to my former rival." Blastoise nodded and they walked over to say Ash.
Gary and Blastoise were nearby where Ash and Pikachu were who were still looking around the street not seeing Agatha.
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was scratching its yellow head imitating what its trainer was doing.
"I guess she's not here...might as well head back to Pallet."
Pikachu nodded in agreement and it jumped back to Ash's shoulder as they were about to leave.
"Hey Ashy-loser! You going to leave without saying hi to me." Said a familar voice to Ash.
"That can't be who I think it is", Ash turns around and sees Gary in his black shirt and khaki pants," Gary??"
"Yea, surprise! surprise! Thought that I was still in the Sinnoh region studying Pokemon?" Gary was laughing knowing that Ash have not seen in a year.
"Pika-pi" Pikachu was in shock and began talking to Blastoise of the reason why they in Virdian.
"Yea I did. Why the hell you're in Virdian and what's up with all those boxes." Ash was wondering.
Gary scoffed at Ash,"Is that how you treat an old friend? I say hi and you say why the hell I'm here. No wonder you're by yourself. Where's your girlfriend Misty?"
"She is not my girlfriend, Gary!" He explained of Misty's absence. "Where are your cheerleader squad, Gary?" Ash soon remembered the cheerleader squad that used to follow him in his early years as a trainer in Kanto and Johto." Ash ever asked with curiosity.
"I can blame you for the lost of my cheerleaders. Ever since I lost to you at the Silver Conference, it looked like they found someone else to cheer for and I got left in the dust." Gary was putting the blame on him.
Ash shrugged with Pikachu,"Hey...the better trainer won fair and square." Ash looked at the bozes that Gary was leaning on."Hey Gary, do you know what happened to Agatha? What's with the boxes?"
"Oh yeah, Agatha retired from the Elite Four and in effect, gave up the gym leader title to this town a while ago. The Elite Four decided to look up experienced trainers as candidates to run the Gym."
Ash looks at the boxes again,"So what are you Gary? You couldn't be a Pokemon researcher like your grandpa so now your a delivery guy for the New Gym Leader here."
"Actually if you must know, you're looking at the new Virdian City Gym Leader." Gary stated in his former prideful way.
Ash's jaw dropped as his neighbor and former rival had become the new Gym Leader and didn't believe it,"When did that happen? I thought you were going to be a Pokemon researcher."
Gary responded,"I thought my career as a Pokemon researcher was going to be permanent but not after I losed to you, Lance battled me and I won which she said i was going to be a candidate to be a Gym Leader. Not after you were in second place, I was confirmed by the League to become a Gym Leader."
Ash was well impressed,"So I'm assuming your Pokemon is more powerful than the last time we fought." Ash said
"I guess so...." Gary knew what Ash wanted to do and decided to say it himself,"So you wanna battle, Ash?"
"You read my mind Gary!" Ash and Gary head inside the Gym arena and they each went to their own side. Gary called one of his referees to come and referee the battle.

While Ash tells Gary of his adventures with Brock and Dawn over in the Sinnoh region, Jessie, James and Meowth were in their Team Rocket Meowth Balloon lost for days since they lost track of the twerps since they split up back at Sinnoh
"I'm so hungry.."said James
"Mime-Mime" Said James' Mime Jr. who was hungry as well.
Jessie looked down from the balloon looking at the beautiful Kanto grasslands with her goggles,"Now where are we?"
Wobuffet comes out of its ball,"Wobbbafet!!!" It put its arm in the form of a salute and Jessie quickly returned it to its Pokeball.
"It's been days since we seen the twerps..." said Meowth who's stomach was growling,"I could use some baby back ribs."
"Are you checking the map?" asked Jessie who was wondering where they were.
James and Mime Jr. was getting from their bag, an old PDA that was bought in a pawn shop and was looking over a holographic image of the Kanto region.
A holographic voice made,"Location is in the Kanto region in the vicinity north of Virdian City.Mime Jr. packs up the PDA.
"Where are we again ?" asked Meowth
"It's days like this that make me want to stop chasing those twerps." James said.
"What are you sayin' James?" Said Meowth,"Just because for the past 7 years we had failed to capture Pikachu or any Pokemon by the way.
Jessie said,"You guys would think in those seven years, we would've had something for the Boss. Maybe we should just quit."
Meowth angry does Fury Swipes on both James and Jessie.
"What did you do that for?????" They said in unison with a angry tone.
"Sure, we may have not caught any Pokemon especially Pikachu but we had never gave up and with failure, comes learning so each time you get better. We did conquer Hoenn and Sinnoh for Pokemon."
James said,"Don't you mean they conuered us? The twerps did the work and we got blasted off."
"Who cares about the minor details. It was the three of us that survived, now the Boss is definetely going to make us Admins of our own branch." Meowth said.
Jessie jumped up in a renewed sense of confidence,"Meowth, you're right! Through thick and thin, we'll won't stop until Pikachu is ours!"
"That's right!" Meowth and James said in unison

Gary Oak and Ash Ketchum decided to have a small battle for old time's sake. The referee was there and agreed to supervise the Pokemon battle and they entered the battlefield, the same as it was when Ash challenged the gym.
Gary grinned, "Just because I'm no longer your rival doesn't mean I'll give you a run for your money," He grabbed one of his Pokeballs.
"I'm sure you will after all you're the Gym Leader of the Virdian Gym now! So are you ready?" Ash said
Gary smiled, "Of course!"
The referee came in, "This is a two on two friendly battle between the Virdian Gym Leader Gary Oak and the challenger Ash Ketchum. The challenger will go first. Only the Gym Leader may use substitutions."
Ash smiled and threw his Pokeball, "Let's go Aipom!!"
"Ehhh...Ooo...Ahhh...EEeee" Aipom was ready to battle.
Gary said, "Hmmmm...an Aipom. Come on out Scizor!"
"Scizor!!" It showed off its claws to Aipom to intimidate it...
The referee lowered his flag, "NOW BEGIN!!!"
"Now Aipom! Use Swift!!" The Monkey Pokemon jumped up in the air and with its hand-tail, unleashed a Swift Attack right for Scizor.
Gary ordered, "Dodge it and use Quick Attack!!!" Scizor nodded and jumped high in the air at top speed and went quickly hitting Aipom causing much damage.
Ash was thinking, 'That Scizor of Gary's sure became quicker since the Silver Conference but my Aipom can still take his Pokemon down.' "Now Aipom use Mach Punch on Scizor's chest!" With Scizor being in such close contact with Aipom, it was easy for it to punch Scizor with much difficulty causing it to fly into the ground. "Ha!! Looks like we beat your Scizor, huh Gary??"
Gary tapped into the mind of Scizor, 'Okay Scizor. We fooled Ashy-boy and his Aipom. I want you to use a Hyper Beam on Aipom.' Scizor right before landing hard on the ground delivered a Hyper Beam knocking out Aipom.
"AIPOM!!!!!" screamed Ash running to the fallen Pokemon, "Are you okay??"
"EH......" Aipom fainted and Ash returned it to its Pokeball while Scizor was returned to its Pokeball.
The referee said, "Aipom is unable to battle. Scizor is the winner!"
"Wow Ashy-boy. I expected much from the runner-up from the Sinnoh Championships," Gary laughed.
Ash smiled, "I was just testing you," looks to Pikachu, "Ready buddy?"
"Pika-PIKA!!!!"
Gary smiled, "Your first Pokemon? I always wanted to battle again your Pikachu so lets see if your first Pokemon could handle mines. GO BLASTOISE!!"
"BLASTOISE!!!!" It flexed its large body and gave a glaring look to it.
The referee said, "BEGIN!!!"
"Blastoise use Hydro Cannon!!" This shocked Ash, as only the most powerful Water Starter Pokemon could learn this rare, yet powerful attack and he couldn't even teach it to his Squirtle or Totodile. Blastoise using its cannons sprayed a huge load of water right for Pikachu.
Ash ordered, "Let's dodge that and use Quick Attack!" Pikachu quickly dodged the water blast and with its agility hit Blastoise pretty hard.
"Nice moves...let's see if you'll dodge this. Use Water Pulse on Pikachu!!!," grinned the spiky-haired Gym Leader.
'Wow he's really going to scare with me with a Water Pulse. Doesn't he know that Water-type moves are not that effective on Electric," He thought and ordered, "Pikachu! Jump high in the air and dodge that attack!" It jumped in the air seeming to have missed the Water Pulse
Gary begins to laugh uncontrollably, "Hehehehehehehehe..."
"What so funny Gary," said an annoyed Ash, "Let me in on the joke."
Gary said, "That Water Pulse that Pikachu dodged is still there. Look behind you." Ash turned and saw a watery ball right above him. "NOW BLASTOISE AIM FOR PIKACHU!!!" The Water Pulse hit Pikachu very hard and yet in anger, sparks were flying over the we battlefield.
"Looks like you made Pikachu mad! Pikachu use Volt Tackle!!" Ash pointed to Blastoise. Pikachu began running to Blastoise eventually becoming a quick, yellow ball of electricity and the heavy Water-type couldn't dodge it making it fall to the ground and faint.
"Blastoise!!" Gary was surprised that his mightiest Pokemon in his roster has fallen to the little cute electric rat.
"Blastoise is unable to battle and Pikachu is the winner," said the referee which caused Ash to shout in joy and hug the little Electric type giving it compliments.
Gary screamed, "HEY ASHY-LOSER!!! ITS NOT OVER 'TIL ITS OVER! GO MAGMAR!!" The Pokeball was thrown unto the battlefield and the Pokeball materialized into Gary's Magmar which showed off its large, flaming body to the electric rodent.
"You still have enough energy, buddy to destroy Gary's Magmar?" He asked the little rodent in his arms and the little rodent nodded and jumped back on the field.
"BEGIN!!!!!!!!," shouted the referee.
Ash then shouted, "Okay Pikachu use Thunder!!!!"
"Magmar! Use Ember!!" Gary ordered. At the same time, both Pokemon unleashed their attacks injuring them both but Pikachu's attack managed to take down Magmar causing it to faint
"Magmar is unable to battle and Pikachu is the winn....." The referee was about to say but Pikachu didn't have a scratch.
"Magmar is unable to battle. Pikachu is the winner. The challenger won the match." The referee said.

Gary and Ash were now outside the city and congratulating his old rival for the amazing first battle as the new Gym Leader. It was the late afternoon at around 6:30 PM and Ash was on his way to Pallet and the sun was setting over the golden sky.
"Hey Ash, that was a good battle. I didn't have a good battle like that with someone for a long time. Better than those challengers today...."
Ash responded,"Only you can guarantee a great battle, Gary. Not even the trainers up north in Sinnoh were as good as you, man."
"So Ashy-boy, so where are you going next?" asked Gary.
Ash scratched his head,"Hmmmm...I don't know. I been to pretty much everywhere as far as I know."
"Oh Ashy-boy, no matter how good you are. There will be better trainers." Gary whispers to Ash,"There's a region north of Johto known as the Orre region. It's a very arid region and many of the toughest trainers gather there and they recently have something called the Orre Colosseum Circuit."
"Orre?" Ash was questioning since he never heard of the place,"Why come I never heard of this place from my parents?"
"It used to be very infamous for its crime. That's what I heard from my pen-pal Rui that it is."
Ash was wondering,"Okay, thanks Gary. I think I might pay a visit to the Orre region so when the next ferry?"
Gary goes on his PDA and goes searching the information on ferry schedules to head to Orre from Pallet Town."It's tomorrow and all you have to do is show your Trainer Card."
"Hey what's that thing there?" Ash was wondering at the multimedia disc-shaped item that Gary was using with his stylus.
"Oh this little thing. Grandpa gave this while he was visiting his collegague Professor Krane. It's an old model since it has the email function, map and radio function only."
Ash was very curious and wanted to know about the Orre region,"Who is this Professor Krane and what does he specialize in?"
"How can you not know about Professor Krane? He's like Grandpa here...he's very famous ever since him and a collegague invented the Purify Chamber and a modified version of the Snag Machine." Closes his PDA
"What is the Purify Chamber?" Ash was rather curious that Gary knew about these things and Ash didn't.
"Okay. Have you heard of Shadow Pokemon?"
"No."
"They are Pokemon who are corrupted and their hearts are closed making them cold-hearted battle machines." Gary explained to Ash.
"Don't worry Ash, it has at least three years since Orre has seen Shadow Pokemon. It's a pretty untamed region of mainly arid deserts in the south and the many mountains in the north."
Gary looks at his watch,"Well my assistants at the gym must be worried and it is getting late so I got to go."
"Okay I guess this is good-bye Gary. I hope you enjoy your new Gym Leader position."
"Well, it was good to see you Ashy-boy. Good luck on everything you do."
Ash with Pikachu on his shoulders begins walking away from Gary in the path to Pallet Town. Ash and Pikachu said their good-byes to Gary Oak and are now en route to Pallet Town.
"So, Pikachu.." Ash from hearing of what Gary said decided to head to the Orre region as his next destination,"Looks like Orre is going to the next place we're gonna travel buddy!"
"Pika-Pika-pi" Pikachu agreed on their destination and were now headed back to Pallet to take the ferry to Gateon. What they didn't know of the dark forces emerging out of somewhere far away...
