Pokémon Sleep celebrates run-up to 3rd Anniversary with a special Prelude Event — Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup to debut July 12th

Pokémon Sleep will celebrate its 3rd anniversary on Monday July 20th. Ahead of this milestone, the game will be holding a special Third Anniversary Prelude Event from Monday July 6th, ahead of the Third Anniversary Fest celebration the following week.

Third Anniversary Prelude Event
The Third Anniversary Prelude Event will allow Researchers to participate and gain bonuses regardless of where they conduct their sleep research, with the following bonuses active throughout the event period:

• Researchers will receive ×1.5 Dream Shards and Research EXP from all sleep research conducted during the event
• Researchers can encounter a few Pokémon of different sleep types regardless of their own sleep type for the day.

Please note that this year's Anniversary Prelude event does not include any bonuses to pot size, unlike previous years.

Players will also receive up to 7 gifts of 150 bonus Sleep Point each. Though not specified in the update, it is presumed that these will function similar to those from the lead up to the 1st and 2nd Anniversaries, with each gift being distributed separately, at a specified time each day. If so, then players who miss a day for whatever reason should be able to catch up with all bonuses released to that point the very next time they log into the game, and the gifts should remain available to claim until well after the event is complete.

Additionally, the following Pokémon will appear with a Greater Appearance Rate during sleep research throughout the event:

• Greengrass Isle (Regular and Expert)
  • Treecko, Grovyle, Sceptile, Torchic, Combusken, Blaziken, Mudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert, Plusle, and Minun.
• Cyan Beach
  • Treecko, Grovyle, and Sceptile.
• Tapue Hollow
  • Mudkip, Marshtomp, and Swampert.
• Lapis Lakeside
  • Treecko, Grovyle, Sceptile, Torchic, Combusken, and Blaziken.
• Old Gold Power Plant
  • Plusle, and Minun.
• Amber Canyon
  • Plusle, and Minun.

Researchers should also note the following for this event:

• The daily rollover for the Third Anniversary Prelude Event is at 4:00am local time.
• Event bonuses for this event apply regardless of which site players conduct their sleep research in.
• Event bonuses apply only for sleep tracking that begins within the event period, and do not apply to sleep tracking during the tutorial, or to sleep data tracked before the event, even if the researcher waits to review their sleep research after the event has started.
• Sleep data tracked during the event will receive event bonuses, regardless of if the researcher waits to review their sleep research until after the event has concluded.

Third Anniversary Fest
As the name suggests, the Third Anniversary Fest commemorates Pokémon Sleep's third anniversary. Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, and their evolutions, will all make their debuts during this event. As usual, players who are in the middle of Sleep Research at the time these Pokémon debut should have a chance of seeing them when they complete their sleep.

The announcement for this event does list an unusual start time, suggesting it will begin for all players worldwide on Sunday July 12th, at 7:00pm (UTC), rather than the usual rollover time on 4:00am Monday morning. As of writing however, no further details about this event have been released, so it's not clear if this is merely when the Pokémon will make their formal global debut, or if the event is actually starting at this specific global time for some special reason.
