Pokémon Sleep to hold a two week-long Old Gold Power Plant Debut event, starting October 7th, to celebrate the addition of the new area on October 2nd

  • Staff
Starting on October 7th, the first Monday following the addition of the new Old Gold Power Plant area, Pokémon Sleep will be holding a two week long event to celebrate the addition of this new area, giving players who've not yet unlocked enough entries in their Sleep Style Dex a chance to catch Pokémon that would otherwise be exclusive to the new area.

The Old Gold Power Plant will debut in-game on October 2nd, at 3:00pm local time. To unlock the area, Sleep Researchers will need to have registered 340 total sleep styles. While this is a full 100 types more than Lapis Lakeside required, it's likely most long term players will have no issues unlocking the zone on Day 1, though more recent players may be waiting a long time to get access.

Snorlax in the Old Gold Power Plant will prefer Grepa, Bluk, and Belue Berries. These berries can be found on Electric-, Ghost-, and Sleep-type Pokémon respectively, so Researchers may wish to ensure they can find, level, and evolve some Pokémon of these types prior to the start of the event. As of writing, the Team RP target for the zone has not been announced.

The following three Pokémon evolution lines will appear during Sleep Research conducted at the Old Gold Power Plant
  • Dozing Type: Grubbin, Charjabug, Vikavolt
  • Snoozing Type: Shinx, Luxio, Luxray
  • Slumbering Type: Aron, Lairon, Aggron
Old Gold Power Plant Debut event

To participate and gain bonuses and rewards from this event, Researchers will need to conduct their sleep research on Greengrass Isle or at the Old Gold Power Plant, with the following bonuses active throughout the event period:
  • Researchers can encounter a few Pokémon of different sleep types regardless of their own sleep type for the day.
Sleep tracking on any other map will not trigger these event bonuses. Unlike with the Lapis Lakeside debut event, there will be no change to Snorlax's preferred berries on Greengrass Isle during this event.

Additionally, during this event, three Pokémon which normally appear at Old Gold Power Plant will also appear for Sleep Research conducted in Greengrass Isle:
  • Dozing Type: Grubbin
  • Snoozing Type: Shinx
  • Slumbering Type: Aron
These same three Pokémon will appear in both the event locations with a slightly greater appearance rate during sleep research throughout the event, with players more likely to encounter these Pokémon at the Old Gold Power Plant than at Greengrass Isle.

As part of the event, Researchers who complete limited-time missions will also be able to receive a variety of special rewards, including Grubbin, Shinx, and Aron Incense, by completing sets of special weekly missions that will be added on top of the standard weekly missions. These incense for these Pokémon will be usable on Greengrass Isle until October 31st at 3:00am (UTC), after which players will only be able to use this incense at the Old Gold Power Plant.

Players should also note the following for this event:
  • The daily rollover for the Old Gold Power Plant Debut event is at 4:00am local time.
  • Event bonuses for this event apply only for sleep data tracked on Greengrass Isle or at the Old Gold Power Plant.
  • Event bonuses apply only for sleep tracking that begins within the event period, and do not apply to sleep tracking during the tutorial, or to sleep data tracked before the event, even if the researcher waits to review their sleep research after the event has started.
  • Sleep data tracked during the event will receive event bonuses, regardless of if the researcher waits to review their sleep research until after the event has concluded.
