My friend just recently completed a Sunkern solo run lol, so if you've done a solo run, what pokemon did you use? Did you take long training your pokemon? And, did you find it hard?

I never did one and I'm not planning on doing one anytime soon. Using only one Pokemon for an entire playthrough sounds boring to me.

I did Solo runs only back in the Blue days. Then I learned what I was supposed to do.

Now I only do solo runs if I want to breeze through the game. I pick any Poké (Usually the Starter), and beat everything with it. My last one was I think Blastoise in LG. My current one is Quagsire and Feraligatr in HGSS, because I won't go through the whole chore again.

Solo runs are the easiest way to get through the games, unless you pick some weak unevolved Poké. Since I don't bother with that, I do solo runs to just beat the game. It helps to have an extra game that can boost the desired Poké some levels and then you just breeze through.

Magicarp solo run in Firered. It was SO hard. That's what she said.

Blaziken in sapphire level 100 after Wallace, kicked ass in the pokemon league, to bad he knew rock smash and I didn't know you could erase moves

OMFG how did your friend complete the game with a SUNKERN?
it has 30 in each base stat!!

On Topic: I did empoleon in diamond.

I always love doing these, at least for a first run. After that I train about four Poke's.

Blue:Bulbasaur. No, not Venusaur, Bulbasaur. Blaine was a douche.
Yellow:Rattata. For added lulz, I named myself Joey.
Crystal:Through the wonders of hacking, Suicune.
Sapphire:Torchic/Combusken/blaziken. Never beat the Elite Four, dad threw the game away. :(
Diamond:Turtwig. Never evolved him, and it was awesome. I wub my little Snapper.
Pearl:Eevee, ended up evolving it into a Leafeon. Since I have an AR to go through obstacles, I literally had no other Pokemon in my game besides Bob the Leafeon.

And for Black I shall do a dual run, only using Pokabu and Reshiram, only catching Musharna for the Dream Smoke.

The thing I always wondered about a solorun: are you allowed to catch other pokemon for use as HM slaves?

For example, I did a kinda solo-run (more of a speed run) with Blastoise on Red, but I had to catch an Oddish to cut, and a Doduo to fly (I was looking for a Spearow...). Is stuff like that allowed? Because otherwise there's no way to actually get through Red with a Blastiose. You need someone who can learn cut

The first time I ever played Pokemon I did a solo run with my Torterra (I know I started late). It was pretty easy unlesss I ran into Dragon or Ice types.

You are allowed to use other Pokemon, but they can't fight. For example, if you solo with a Turtwig, and Turtwig faints in battle, you can send in another Pokemon, but that Pokemon can't use a move on the enemy. You have to revive the soloer.

Did it in the original Gold with my Cyndaquil, evolved all the way to Typhlosion

To me a solo run simply means that you must always have that Pokemon at the head of your party and you must never switch unless it faints, if it faints you must get to a Pokemon Center as soon as possible/revive your solo Pokemon.

Anyway, yes I did this, or close to, in all games up to Ruby for the [insert huge amount here] time, however I filled my team whit the highest level Pokemon I could find, so in Crystal my team was always Starter, Sudowoodo/any high level Pokemon I found, Red Gyarados, Suicune, Snorlax and Lugia by the time I got to Red :p

In Ruby is was Starter, Groudon and 3-4 Pokemon I caught in the Victory Road by the time I reached the league.

I did it on my second playthrough of Ruby with Blaziken. I used HM whores but Blaziken was the only one I battled with. I did it purely so I could say that I did lol Bragging Rights FTW

I completed a pseudo-solo run in Pokémon Pearl. It wasn't meant to be a Solo Run, but I used Turtwig only for the entire game. Of course, this was before I understood the idea of team structure.

I did one unintentionally in Yellow, because I was a little kid who didn't understand how to level up a team. It actually wasn't Pikachu that I used, for some reason I used a Pidgeot.
