Shouldn't we redirect every search for "Charmander" or something to "Charmander (Pokémon)"? And then have something like "This article is about the species. If you were looking for..."? Since most people probably mean the species. Or am I wrong?

This has been discussed before It will redirect to the Pokémon page if there isn't a notable character in another media. However If there are then we cannnot tell which one people are actually wanting, so it is a disabiguation page. It also means that when newbies put in [[Pikachu]] people actually following the link can get wherre they want until it gets fixed.

No, we're not doing it. I tossed around the idea a while ago with some of the admins about moving all the Pokémon pages to Bulbadex:X, with a shortcut of Dex:X, and still using the {{p}} template, of course, but no one was really for it.

Personally, I think doing it that way would make it so people didn't have to press like fifteen extra keys. shift b release u l b a s a u r space shift 9 p release o k alt 1 3 0 release m o n shift 0 enter. This'd be d e x shift ; release b u l b a s a u r, since namespaces auto-cap the first letter after the colon.

You didn't tell me that idea. But naturally, I don't like it. The only namechange around that section that I can think of being comfortable with would be moving everything from "Mewtwo (Pokémon)" to "Mewtwo (species)", but that probably won't happen anyway.

Also. Most people would push shift for the P as well.

Hence my "release" in there. Hit shift, 9 p and you get (P.

The Bulbadex namespace, of course, would be for making the subpages not look UGLY.

im still not for the idea, but i am for the idea of simply redirecting all names to their pages. i mean, if i wanted Ash's Charmander, id search "ash's charmander" but thats a war that i will never win.

That's exactly what I meant.

We're never changing it because then idiots will whine about the other disambiguations. Plus there's still the fact that it makes it easier to see when noobs add "Ash finds [[Pikachu]]" to a page and fix it.
