Pokemon Stadium GS Kris is 'Base' Lyra?

I was just casually going through a few pages on bulbapedia today, and something caught my eye. This picture from Pokemon Stadium GS(2),

While clearly a female equivalent to the male one, who appears to be Red(Of which I cannot find a picture of), it barely represents who it is supposed to be, Kris. However, it does share similarities with Lyra.

Both the hair style and the colouration of the hat. While it may simply be a coincidence, I thought it was worth pointing out.

I believe Pokémon Stadium 2 was being made before Pokémon Crystal... so they might now have known what Kris' appearance was going to be, and took a random guess.
Scratch that, in Japan, Stadium 2 and Crystal were released on the game day, they must have known Kris' appearance.

They could have taken inspiration for the old Pokémon Stadium 2 portrait for Kotone/Lyra.

indeed. speculation isnt allowed. though it is to say that this portrait is almost certainly not Lyra or any incarnation of her. its simply a generic female with a hat made big enough to cover her face, like Red.

She bears some resemblance to Kris and Kotone (I think I mentioned it once in the Kris article) but really she just looks more like Red's picture from Stadium with pigtails attached XD

apparently, they designed Lyra from scratch.

So, why did they feel the need to add pigtails if they were trying to be original?
