It's only natural that while playing the games we build up a preconception of what a particular Pokemon looks like, often without consulting the Pokedex info. So it can come as a surprise to find that a Pokemon may be much bigger or smaller than you imagined it to be.

I recently had to do a double take when I realised that Durant is only one foot tall, the same size as a Caterpie!

I was also really surprised to read that Gastly was 4'03, the same size as Nidoqueen.

Seviper. I always thought it was pretty small when I saw its GenIII sprite but when I saw a picture of it from the anime it looked gigantic.

Dunsparce is a lot bigger than I used to think it was.

Joltic is much smaller than I thought. I know it's a spider and is supposed to be small but I imagined its size to be similar to Spinarak.

I was also really surprised to read that Gastly was 4'03, the same size as Nidoqueen.

It's huge in Pokemon Stadium as well. Much bigger than its other sprites would have you think.

Roselia's rather unexpectedly small size bugs me a lot...
This. Especially when Drew's Roselia was much bigger.

And also Golbat. I haven't expect it to be so big. It's quite creepy, especially when the biggest part of its body is mouth.

Most of the legendaries astound me. Any one notice how Giratinas Sprite in DPP is about 5x bigger than the one in HGSS when following you?

Its slightly larger than a skitty :P

I thought Krookodile would be massively large, but it's smaller than I thought. At least in the anime where it was barely taller than Ash

I'm sure there are some that would surprise me a lot and I just don't know about them yet, but definitely Dunsparce :o I thought it's much smaller than pokédex actually is. However I sometimes tend to ignore some pokédex info and adjust it to my own needs (in FanFiction or pictures)

Serperior! I thought it'd be 5 feet tall! But it's 10'10 feet tall? Woah, woah, hold the phone here. :o
Also Crobat and Golbat. I thought they'd be small, but man...They're huge. :o Man, how my Platinum/Pearl characters ever raised 'em I'll never know...
Arceus is smaller then I'd think he'd be. 10 feet tall, and he's the PokeGod? You'd think he'd be taller, like...30 feet or something. I guess not. *shrugs*
All I can think of for now. :D

I was so shocked by how small Joltik actually was in the anime.

How small was it?

Someone said this already, but Dunsparce. I mean, what the hell? It is bigger than Nidoking. It is the same size as Krookodile and Salamace, wtf? And on top of that, it only weighs like 30 lbs, which I think is physically impossible for anything that isn't made of styrofoam.

Roselia baffles me when based from the Pokedex.

But is it true that Dunsparce is a large as Tyranitar? I saw it somewhere over the internet, but it might be just trolling.

I suspect that serpentine Pokemon are measured as though they were completely extended upwards, otherwise we wouldn't have things like Ekans being the same size as Venusaur or Dratini being bigger than Charizard. The anime seems to support this (though it does take its own liberties with how big some Pokemon are), as do the size of the walking sprites in HGSS.

So measured as they would normally stand, I'd say Dunsparce would be about 2 feet tall and Serperior around 6 feet.

If you look at the size comparison chart in the old pokedex (in the games) the thing is way [/I ]bigger than your trainer! Even measured length-wise, Dunsparse is gigantomungus compared to the length of about 1'6'', height of like 8'' in my head. I always pictured it being about the size of a large Banana Slug.

That's definitely the case if we go by some beta Pokemon art.

Personally, I think Salamence is kind of small, standing at 4'11" tall from what I assume is head to toe.

For me personally, EVERY Pokemon with Pokedex height above 0.7m is damn hell SMALL!!!!

Yes, EVERY Pokemon taller than 0.7m.

I always expected Torkoal to be a lot bigger(Its the size of a cat). I expected it to be Torterra size, or a least the size of a giant tortoise.
I thought Wailmer would be bigger, because it evolves into 50 foot long Wailord, and it grows 40 feet in the porcess!
Bulbapedia says Dunsparce is a tsuchinoko, but its too big, and its too small to be a feathered serpent.
