I tried searching for a thread like this, but I couldn't find any. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

Are there any existing Pokemon that could easily be mistaken for other types?
Let's get the easy one out of the way here right at the start; Gyarados - Dragon/Water

Some examples that came to my mind:
Flygon - Dragon/Bug (Looks very bug-like, belongs in the Bug egg-group and learns many Bug-type moves)

Golett/Golurk - Steel/Ghost

Darmanitan - Fire/Fighting

So, any more ideas?

Samurott - He's a darn Samurai Pokemon and he's not a fighting type! That's the only one that comes to mind right now.

Psyduck and Golduck - how the hell are they not part psychic? They learn Psychic and Confusion, and often their psychic powers are focused on more than their water powers.

Scyther- it's a bug and flying but it can't learn fly! and how can normal types learn surf and stuff like that?

I think that Politoad should be part Pyschic as it learns the move Hypnosis and many people use it for that move. Also Poliwrath is part Fighting type so that's another reason why Politoad should have a secondary type. Plus to me it looks like it has Psychic traits from it's appearance even more so tha Psyduck and Golduck.

I think it's crazy that Cofagrigus is not part Steel type, as it's defences and appearance say otherwise. Seeing as Ninetales is also ghostly in nature possibly being based on the Kitsune and learning ghost type moves it would have been interesting to see it as a Ghost/Fire dual type.

They tend to do make a pokemon with a sole or questionable dual type sometimes that makes you say "hey...but oh never mind!" rofl.

Sometime I think Braviary should have been Flying/Fighting. I would fit well, in my opinion.

ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD

Golett/Golurk - Steel/Ghost

Ground/Ghost actually fits Golett & Golurk, since they were created by an ancient civillisation.

I think it's crazy that Cofagrigus is not part Steel type, as
Due to being based on sarcophagi, Cofagrigus would work better as a Ghost/Rock or Ghost/Ground type.

Yes, that actually makes more sense.
I've got another; Shelmet - Bug/Steel , why isn't is Steel? It's got the same shell that makes Karrablast a Steel-type when it evolves into Escavalier.

Stunfisk was originally Electric/Water; which I can see a lot.

I think:
Emboar - Fire/Dark
Dewott - Water/Fighting
Samurott - Water/Fighting
Keldeo - Water/Ghost (I had predicted a Pokémon based on the Kelpsie; but I think Water/Ghost would have been a better typing for a Kelpsie).

Also, with Cofagrigus; the sarcophagus is said to be made out of gold, which is a metal.

Two people already were surprised when I told them Serperior isn't Grass/Dragon.

Luxray: Electric/Dark
Huntail: Water/Dark
Gorebyss:Water/Psychic
Ninetales: Fire/Ghost
Mankey/Primeape: Normal/Fighting
Lunatone: Rock/Dark
Skorupi/Drapion: Dark/Bug
Gothi-line: Psychic/Dark
Beartic: Ice/Fighting

Accelgor could have been Bug/Fighting since its a ninja worm :/

Trapinch also could have been Ground/Bug.

Yes that would make sense, however Cofagrigus is said to be made out of gold and that is a metal. So the fact that it's made out of gold and is not part steel type is strange in my opinion.

They have introduced quite a few sole types in this gen for sure.

Wait, no-one's mentioned Charizard yet? I thought everybody thought he should've been Fire/Dragon...

Ah, well. Let's see:
Apart from what I already said, I suppose Lugia could've been Water/Flying, Ho-Oh could've been Psychic/Flying or Fire, Suicune could've been Water/Flying (All that talk about the North Wind), and Lunatone could've been Rock/Dark, unless I'm thinking along the lines of Espeon & Umbreon.

Feraligatr- water/fighting
Cacturne- grass/ghost
Whimsicott- grass/flying
Elektross (evolution line): electric/water
Eglyem: Psychic /dark

Serperior: Grass/Poison.
Swampert: Water/Fight. I know its origins, it just looks light a brawler to me.
Samurott: Water/Fight. I'm amazed it isn't.
