So, what Pokémon should've the dub voice it deserved? (Snivy should have a darker voice, like that)

Dawn's Piplup.

Seriously, what was TPCI thinking giving it a voice almost identical to May's Torchic's?

Pretty much every voice Team Rocket's Meowth sucks. How does that awful "Brooklyn midget" voice come out of living in Hollywood? Nyasu's cat voice is more realistic.

Yeah, Meowth's voice is probably my least favorite in the entire show. It's a big part of what makes him the most rewritten character in the English dub.

I've always hated Gardevoir's voice. Don't think I've ever heard it in Japanese, so can't compare it to that. That's just a very odd sound coming out of its mouth.

Levanny. I dread whenever one shows up. Whenever it says its name, it sounds like an old woman being killed >_<

And Meowth, bad in delivery AND dialogue (with the possible exception of the guy who voiced him first)

Why the piplup hate? his dub voice easily surpasses that annoying and whiny pochimaa D:

anyways tpci does a terrific job with the dubbing of pokemon cries, although they could improve on swellows a bit..

I hate Meowth's and James's new voices, they suck. Nyasu's was awesome. It really does sound like a talking cat. (^O^☆♪

Dawn's Piplup. Much too sickeningly sweet and far too high-pitched for my ears to handle.

Eelecktross has only appeared once so far, but I couldn't stand its Goofy-like voice.

Aggron's English-dubbed cry really irritated me when it appeared. In my opinion, his Japanese cry wasn't much to talk about either, but at least it didn't sound angrily constipated.

Because honestly to most non americans, all American accents just sound the same, theres just one. Similar to how you all think there is a British Accent, but actually, there's loads of different ones like, Scouse, welsh, scottish, geordie. Even people from the south can't really understand a thick Glaswegian accent, and yet most people just assume there is 1 British accent and that's it. Same with America I guess, everyone non-American, who knows meowth is from hollywood just considers that an American accent and doesn't really distinguish that it's the wrong accent for that part of America

Team Rocket's Meowth in the TPCi dub by Jimmy Zoppi. Not only is it the furthest from Inuko Inuyama's performance among all three dub VAs, but his voice, delivery, and speech are the worst voice for a Pokémon in the dub. Period. Michele Knotz's Piplup is second place for worst. Lisa Ortiz's Oshawott comes in third.

I don't want to go into human voices because that will lead to a chain of debate but I will say that I feel the former VAs were significantly better than the TPCi main voice cast and the dub has been ruined in English for me because of the TPCi voice cast. T_T

I watch the show in Japanese with subtitles now, but truth be told I do really miss the old English VAs and it does suck to have to watch the episodes in raw Japanese sometimes just because the English dub is so bad nowadays. XD.

Archeops. I would've made it sound more like a Velociraptor.

At the risk of sounding like I'm repeating everyone else... Piplup, by far. Pochama's voice helped give the Penguin Pokemon a ton of personality, whereas Piplup was just given a bog-standard cutesy voice. Ack!

Meowth... meh, I can't say anything that hasn't been said yet.

But what I don't get the Oshawott hate. I actually think it manages to sound pretty close to Mijumaru's voice.

I think it's more that Oshawott's voice is a bit too feminine, but it's not bad at all (especially by TPCi standards, which are virtually nonexistent). And tbh I've never had a problem with a Pokemon's voice barring Zoppi's Meowth: I really can't stand any of the TPCi voices for the human characters. I hope that someday TPCi loses the license to dub and then the original VAs or VAs with some talent from FUNi can dub the anime. XD.

Chimchar's dub voice was pure ear rape, and is partially responsible for how much I hate the species now.

Eh, the dub in general is really shit with pokemon voices imo, with very few exceptions.

Treeko and Grovyle are the first ones that always come to mind for me. He was supposed to be this tough, lone-wolf type of character, and his japanese voice was suitably gruff and reserved. Then the dub goes and gives them both these weird goofy squeaky voices.

I think a lot of pokemon that were supposed to be intimidating of imposing ended up suffering a similar fate. Paul's Electivire, for instance, was supposed to be his trump card monster, the one to fully test Infernape in the final battle. The dub makes it sound like a sick parrot and as such it's hard to take seriously.

Also, Staraptor was bloody awful.

Aggron's English-dubbed cry really irritated me when it appeared. In my opinion, his Japanese cry wasn't much to talk about either, but at least it didn't sound angrily constipated.

I dunno man. The one Aggron from the episode where Brock and Ash have a double battle against TR in the Pewter Gym sounded pretty damn awesome in japanese. One of the most memorable ones imo, and the contrast between it and it's dub voice is extremely jarring.

Most of the problem I have with the dubbing of Pokemon is the insistence on using the full name of the Pokemon every time they speak - particularly when you have long English names and the Pokemon has to say the whole thing all the time - it just never fits.

The actual voices don't often concern me, just they don't follow the Japanese version patterns in using the name of the Pokemon as the basis of speech, not the whole of their speech. Pokemon don't 'say' their name, they speak using the sounds of their name.

Happiny's voice is probably my most disliked out of the frequently recurring ones, Beautifly a close second. Hitmontop probably has my vote for most annoying of all of them - but I'm sure there's others.
