My RPs never really seem to get off the ground, do they? But at least I have plenty of ideas. Who knows? Maybe a Pokemon one will be interesting enough.

Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

The Plot:
Man’s greatest weakness, they say, is his hubris, his unrelenting and self-destructive arrogance. And even here, in the peaceful bliss of the Pokemon world, a single madman is all it takes to ruin everything.

And so it happened. Omega, the Last Enemy, in the footsteps of both Team Aqua and Team Magma, unleashed the super-ancient Pokemon and awakened their unstoppable rage--Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza itself. With all three unleashed, there could be no hope for peace. The world itself was destroyed and reborn, as land, sea, and sky warred.

But as legends raged and clashed, humanity sought to correct the balance and redeem itself. When those efforts inevitably failed against the might of the Legendary Pokemon, mankind’s best and brightest did the next best thing: they built sanctuaries, havens buried deep in the earth, arcologies to house both man and Pokemon until the endless war might possibly end.

But decades passed, and man slowly forgot. What need did they have of the outside, when their arcologies could sustain them? And so society rebuilt itself underground. And as the memory of Omega and the fall of their world faded, the ten arcologies slowly lost contact.

But now, after so long, the arcologies are failing. Only by pooling together their diminishing resources can they have a hope of finally returning to their long-abandoned home on the surface. And so Arcology-01, named Teron, sends out a group of young trainers to reunite the lost arcologies…

The World:
The ten arcologies are massive, self-sufficient superstructures buried deep within the earth. Though each arcology has Pokemon of many types, they tend to house a majority of a single type they represent, along with an appropriate habitat. Although the arcologies were originally simply given number designations, the people in their settlements gave the names that fit their habitats: Teron, Pyral, Marin, Floran, Glaciad, Venra, Fulmir, Spectrys, Fortima, and Dracal.

Mindful of the damage they caused, the designers of the arcologies devoted most of the interior of each one to wilderness, as replacements for the devastated homes of the Pokemon. Spherical in shape, only the very top level of each arcology houses human settlements; the remaining space, divided into six levels, is for the Pokemon. A massive elevator shaft runs through the middle of each arcology, and--along with smaller stairways between levels--joins the seven levels of the arcology together.

Underneath the seventh level of each arcology, at the very bottom of the structure, lies the arcology’s Terminus. The people of the arcologies have long forgotten the purpose of the Terminus, only remembering that it was of vast importance to their ancestors. In truth, the Terminus is the computer system and power source of each arcology, regulating them and keeping them inhabitable. The central core of each Terminus is an Elemental Orb, a sphere of raw elemental power obtained from the Legendary Pokemon before the arcologies came online.

Finally, as the arcologies slowly drifted apart, they initiated the Omega Protocol: to prevent the rise of another madman like Omega and protect the arcologies should conflict ever break out, the network of tunnels that connected the arcologies was sealed, with a Guardian set to protect the key. Thenceforth, anyone wishing to travel between arcologies would need to prove their worth to the arcology’s Guardian by defeating them and proving their worth.

The Arcologies:
lost_arcology_map.png

Key:
 • 01. Teron: the Ground Arcology. It is the home arcology of the player characters, and the one to reopen communication among all the arcologies. Its primary habitats are plains and dry grasslands, allowing many different Pokemon species to live here. However, its lower levels become rockier and mountainous, with Level Seven, immediately above the Terminus, being a network of dark caves. Its Guardian is Jonathan Oak.
 • 02. Pyral: the Fire Arcology. Its primary habitats are deserts and savannas, with its lower levels becoming increasingly volcanic. Its Guardian is Matthew Blaine.
 • 03. Fortima: the Fighting Arcology. The second smallest arcology, its primary habitats are simple grasslands and temperate woods, with denser forests at the lower levels. Its Guardian is Rebecca Newman.
 • 04. Marin: the Water Arcology. Its primary habitats are rivers and swamps, with beaches and near-complete ocean at the lower levels. Level Seven is completely submerged, necessitating the use of Dive. Its Guardian is April Lillian.
 • 05. Glaciad: the Ice Arcology. Its primary habitats are cool coniferous forests and scrubby grasslands, with increasingly frigid conditions at the lower levels. Level Seven is a completely featureless icy wasteland. Its Guardian is Michael Niveos.
 • 06. Florin: the Grass Arcology. The largest and most habitable arcology, its primary habitats are grasslands, temperate forests, and sweeping plains throughout the arcology. Its Guardian is Serena Briars.
 • 07. Fulmir: the Electric Arcology. Its primary habitats are empty plains and a scattering of thin woods, dominated by stormy, overcast skies. Level Seven is an empty plain, with a constant lightning storm overhead. Its Guardian is Richard Surge.
 • 08. Venra: the Flying Arcology. A smaller arcology, its primary habitats are cool, wooded mountains, with vast open spaces for Flying-types of all kinds. Level Seven is dominated by vast canyons and abysses. Its Guardian is Amelia Inalis.
 • 09. Spectrys: the Ghost Arcology. The smallest arcology, its primary habitats are simple grasslands and temperate forests, with denser forests at the lower levels. Dark mists pervade the entire arcology except for Level One, the human level; Level Seven is utterly dark, necessitating the use of Flash. Its Guardian is Cain Decorde.
 • 10. Dracal: the Dragon Arcology. The second largest and most diverse arcology, its primary habitats are rocky plains and dense forests, with its lower levels becoming increasingly mountainous. Level Seven is a single, immense mountain. Its Guardian is unknown.

 • I. Primary Station: the first link station, which serves as a research center and tech cache. It is overseen by the AI Ichi.
 • II. Secondary Station: the second link station, which serves as a commander and observation center over all the arcologies. It is overseen by the AI Ni.
 • III. Tertiary Station: the third link station, which serves as a resting point and dormitories. It is overseen by the AI San.

The Deepground:
Though the architects of the arcologies created the superstructures as sanctuaries for the Pokemon, they failed to account for the creatures lurking deep within the earth itself. Even as they worked tirelessly to construct their underground havens, the builder disturbed the rest of Pokemon long forgotten by the surface world. The arcologies were sealed at their completion, preserving the world as it was before the Omega War. But over time, those environmental seals have slowly failed, along with many of the arcologies' other systems. In the tunnels, strange, new Pokemon lurk...

NOTE: You may submit your own original Pokemon! Simply post them here in the sign-up, or PM them to Renewal!

Rules:
 • Follow all BMGf rules. This includes the obvious ones: be respectful, no spamming, etc.
 • Be descriptive. Short posts make for a boring RP. Aim for at least three sentences, maybe even a paragraph.
 • Keep OOC to a minimum. Any major discussion should be here, in the sign-up thread. Any OOC in the start-up should be game-oriented.
 • No god-modding. Defeating everything effortlessly and solving every problem instantly makes for a very boring RP.
 • Don’t control other players’ characters. This is simply proper procedure in any RP.
 • Listen to the GM. I’m here to keep gameplay going and ensure things don’t go out of control.
 • Read the rules and background information. They’re here for a reason. Reading the entire first post makes gameplay much smoother.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

If this is the entire world that went underground, what if there were pokemon that haven't been discovered yet? Are they just all extinct, or what? I actually have ideas for (well-balanced) fakemon that you could use in this RP. I have over 30 that I'm making for a new region of mine, and the number is increasing every day.

I'll still sign up if you say no, but this might be what you need to get your RP off the ground; something that the others don't have. If you want to see some of my creations, tell me.

Also, since we're starting in the Ground arcology, will we be limited in our first pokemon choice? I know which of my fakemon I'm going to use if you allow their use. Here it is, adapted for this RP:

Number: ??.

Name: Xegrub.

Species: Borer Pokemon.

Typing: Bug.

Experience Group: Slow.

Stats: 98/80/22/36/68/14.

Abilty: Swarm. HA is Sap Sipper.

Evolution: To Knachturn with Dusk Stone.

Egg group: Bug.

Weight: 19.9 lbs.

Height: 1' long.

Physiology: Xegrub are fat, white grublike pokemon with very soft bodies and strong jaws. They once lived in the immense southern forests of the Golayn Peninsula, devouring the fallen trees in which they were laid. Xegrub now live the garbage dumps of the Terran Arcology, and in the forests of some others. When one is ready to evolve, it will seek out a Dusk Stone. They can spray acid.

Behavior: Xegrub do nothing but eat rotten things until evolution. If disturbed they will spray acid and attempt to bite, but they're weak and slow enough that Xegrub are favored prey items of large pokemon.

Movepool (TMs excluded): Start: Bug Bite. Level 10: Acid Spray. Level 20: Bide. Level 30: Stockpile, Swallow, Spit Up. Level 40: Growth. Level 50: Crunch. Level 60: Flail. Level 70: Gastro Acid. Level 80: Body Slam. Level 90: Coil.

Egg Moves: None.

Pokedex entries: (1)Nearly immobile pokemon that live inside garbage dumps and fallen trees. Xegrub have strong jaws and a relatively hard head. (2) When attacked Xegrub will coil up and launch themselves at the foe. Their powerful jaws and tendency to spew acid can make them dangerous.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Hadesiro: You, good sir, have raised an excellent point. I feel like they'd fit better if the players discovered your fakemon on their journey, as intrusions into the arcology. So, you could introduce them, just not start off with them.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

All of these pokemon lived in the Golayn Peninsula, east of Hoenn. I'm going to be making my signup in a bit.

She then jumped high over buildings to get away from the groups that were hunting her. Some of her surviving victims were so shocked that they never recovered. When the humans were in too large of numbers to ambush, Leapenight would instead run around the guards at night, just barely in sight and cackling insanely.

Location on Earth: Unknown, but she's certainly still around, somewhere...

Movepool (TMs excluded): Start: Taunt, Knock Off, Aerial Ace, Transform. Level 6: Fake Out. Level 12: Acrobatics. Level 18: Air Slash. Level 24: Sucker Punch. Level 30: Ice Punch. Level 36: Dark Pulse. Level 42: Snatch. Level 48: Night Slash. Level 54: Bounce. Level 60: Flamethrower. Level 66: Night Laugh (Special, Power 50, Dark, basically Volt Switch/U-turn but has 20% chance to Confuse). Level 72: Foul Play. Level 78: Mirror Move. Level 84: Screech. Level 90: Crush Grip. Level 96: Nasty Plot.

Egg Moves: N/A

Pokedex entries: (1) Leapenight once terrorized the people of Noxton, in Rikken. It is frightened by loud sounds, but feeds of the fear of others. (2) Leapenight's cackling can harm the minds of those that hear it. It can alter its shape, and takes the form of humans to cause disasters. During the chaos, it feeds on the fear of those who can't defend themselves.

Name: Chassitor (Khaa-see-tor)

Species: Guardian Pokemon.

Typing: Dragon/Water

Experience Group: Medium Slow.

Stats: 100/100/100/100/100/100.

Abilty: Disruptor (Special Attack Intimidate). HA is Snapjaw (Iron Fist for biting attacks).

Evolution: N/A.

Egg group: Legendary (Always male).

Weight: 2,400 lbs.

Height: Length is 16' 4".

Physiology: Chassitor was a creation of the Caligin Empire, and came to Rikken with Leapenight. He was once of the Dark type, but a millenium living in the pure waters of Lake Calm has replaced his violent mindset with one that is wise and that will defend the lake, even against his younger siblings the Ikasamare. Chassitor is a very large, dark blue crocodile, with flashing bands of white around his body. He is heavyset, but is still an adept swimmer, and has very powerful jaws. Chassitor's mere presence is enough to distract the minds of others.

Behaviour: Chassitor will defend Lake Calm no matter the cost, and has never lost a battle. Those who would pollute or violate the Lake simply disappear beneath the surface, providing a meal to its guardian. Chassitor will never bother those that it deems harmless, and will simply dine on fish most of the time, however.

Level 66: Dragon Pulse. Level 72: Hydro Pump. Level 78: Outrage.

Egg Moves: N/A.

Pokedex entries: (1) Chassitor was created to attack Rikken, but Lake Calm allowed it to see reality. (2) Chassitor guards Lake Calm against all who would harm it. Those who endanger the lake are not tolerated.

You don't have to use the legends. I can see why you wouldn't really want to. I will be making more pokemon through the days, and I'll edit them into this post.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

Just a clarification, are we required to start with a Ground type since we're in that arcology, or could we have another Pokemon that is usually founf in caves? Just wondering, before I start to make a character.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Nytie: Nope. Ground is merely the predominant type, not the sole one. So yes, it's possible to start off with any Pokemon, barring Legendaries.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

Ok, good to know. I'm going to start putting together a character soon. :)

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

This looks nice, but one question: Are there wild Pokémon for us to catch along the way?

Anyway, starting the SU right now~

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

Name: Paulo Loresen.
Age: 16.
Gender: Male.

Appearance: Paulo is 5'8" tall, and is moderately muscular. He has a complexion that resembles that of an Italian, due to his Caligin heritage. He usually wears strong, light clothes. He has black hair and blue-green eyes.

Personality: Paulo has a fiery personality, with passion and will to live. He can be a bit of a showoff, and is confident that he won't fail in the mission. In battle, he orders Zerxeis to wait, then strike once there is an opening. Paulo doesn't believe that Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre could have caused an apocalypse on their own; the other legends, such as Arceus would have stopped them.

Sometimes Paulo has flashes where all of his senses are horribly distorted, and he sees nightmarish things wherever he looks. His senses of smell, taste, and hearing become equally distorted during these times. When he was younger, he had a distorted flash, and saw a nightmarish thing watching him, and then it spoke to him. He couldn't recognize the shape, but the voice was clear and deadly-sharp. "Never go near, never attempt to follow th Omega, Caligin."

Background: Paulo's ancestors came from Caliginis, east of Hoenn. They sailed across the sea to Hoenn, and years later the apocalypse came. Paulo's family kept the legends and stories that they knew from Caliginis, and Paulo listened well to them. Those of the Caligin Empire, and the goddess that once tried to end the world. This pokemon-goddess was also known as the Omega, to the Caligin, as the legend went that it went from world to world destroying everything, always being the last living thing in existence as it left that universe. It tried to destroy earth many years ago, but Arceus stopped it and sealed under Caliginis, possibly forever. The goddess had another name, but it has been lost over the years. The stories go that the Caligin rebelled against the Omega pokemon, but in reality they worshipped it.

Paulo is actually adopted. His parents never had kids of their own, and they looked similar as both Paulo and his adoptive family are descended from the Caligin. His adoptive family, the Loresens, manufacture TMs, and keep old ones that their ancestors had made.

Pokemon: Zerxeis, a Growlithe.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Valentine_Rose: Yup. This RP has all the trappings of a journey RP, with a radically different (theoretically) setting. I wanted to do something a bit simpler, but not so unoriginal as yet another journey through Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/etc. They're arcologies; they have a self-sufficient ecology within them.

@Hadesiro: Approved. I like how you elaborated on my plot introduction :-D. Player involvement always makes an RP more in-depth. And yeah, I feel that leaving fakemon for later would be best.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

Name: Rose Harris

Age: 13

Gender: Female

Appearance: Rose is very slim yet very tall for her age, standing at 168cm. Her hair is blonde and flows down to her chest, and she usually wears a rose-shaped pin in her hair to brighten it up a bit - the colour of the rose depends on her mood for that day. She wears a light green t-shirt with pictures of leaves on the side, and she wears faded sky blue shorts with white, frayed edges. Rose also wears white pumps, and a silver charm bracelet on her left wrist for luck. Often she is mocked and called "Pinneedle", because of her tall, skinny figure. As a result, Rose tries to eat as much as she can so that she isn't so skinny.*

Personality: Rose is an outgoing girl, who is very popular amongst her age group, and has been that way for as long as she can remember. She also likes helping others out, for two reasons: firstly so that they are happy, and secondly so that she doesn't have to be frustrated about watching them struggle. However, she isn't always kind to others, as she is pretty impatient and has a short fuse.*

Background: Rose's ancestors came from Slateport City, working as merchants to import items for the market. Because of that, the Harris family has many rare items from the past, such as DeepSeaTooth, DeepSeaScale, Big Pearl and Big Nugget. The family also has a collection of berries, which have interested Rose greatly. Her parents have taught her many things about the past, and how life was like overground.*
Her ancestors were also quite rich as merchants, so her family is still pretty wealthy, with a spacious house and many ornaments as well as modern gadgets. Because of that, Rose has a lot of things which many people are jealous of, and she is quite spoilt as well.*

Pokemon: Roselia (it has been bred through many generations)

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Valentine_Rose: Looks decent. Approved.

Hmm, two or three more players will probably be sufficient for this RP. Let's see if we get one more interested person.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

Finally got this done!

Name: Karina Majors

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance: Karina is short and petite, with hazel eyes and dark red hair in a choppy pixie cut. Her clothes are usually slightly too big and seem to hang off of her. She almost always has an Explorer Kit* with her.

Personality: Karina is spunky and curious, and a bit of a scatterbrain. She loves Pokemon and cooking, but her true passion is spelunking and searching for Fossils in Teron's vast network of caves. She may not be the best problem solver, but years of exploring the caves have taught her perserverance and determination, and honed her survival skills.

Background: Karina's family originally hailed from the mountainous region of northern Hoenn. She spends a lot of time with her grandparents, who live with her and her parents. She has been told that her predecesors were trainers, scientists, and environmental advocates but her grandparents refuse to say more than that. From piecing a few clues together, Karina suspects that some of her family members forerly belonged to Team Magma, one of the villainous teams that inspired Omega's mad plot. She hopes for a chance to help people and compensate for her family's involvement in the destruction.

Pokemon: Kreuger, a Sableye that Karina befrienfrf while exploring the caves. He happily digs for gemstones to eat while Karina is looking for Fossils.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Nytie: Very nice. Approved.

One more sign-up, and I'll post the start-up!

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

Name: Cohen Hazel
Age: 11
Gender: Male

Appearance: Cohen has tousled green hair and usually wears blue clothes. He has a brown jacket and a pendant of a metal Rayquaza which he never takes off. He is also quite thin, and wears glasses. He is 4'11" in height, yet only about 35 kilos in weight.
Personality: Cohen is a bright, yet naive boy who tries to stay calm and collected, but will crack if pushed too far. He is quite independent and usually does things himself. When he works in a team he is usually quite bossy, but tries to care for his fellow members. He brings a pen and notepad everywhere, and can record things that pokemon do for hours on end. His dream is to be a Pokemon Professor.
Background: Cohen's family were brought up in the coastal Dewford Town, which was destroyed by one of Kyogre's tidal waves, but his family managed to escape thanks to their water pokemon. They fled to the only safe place they could find: Teron, the first arcology. Over the time of a hundred years, this story has "evolved" into myth. However, Cohen still believes strongly in this and is convinced he is related to the Gym Leader of a hundred years past, Brawly Haze (He has no proof, with his excuse being "Haze and Hazel sound the same").

Pokemon: His Marshtomp (or Mudkip if you won't allow it), Swampy.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Jaylebyrd: Pending. Your Background needs to be edited: at the very least, a century has passed since the apocalypse and the exodus to the arcologies. My apologies for not making it clearer in the first post.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Renewal Can I edit my signup at this point? I came up with a few more things.

Re: Pokemon: The Lost Arcology

@Jaylebyrd: Looks solid. Approved.

@Hadesiro: Of course.

Sorry for the delays; this week has been a bit hectic. It looks like I'll have to post the start-up on Friday.
