Fans of Magic of a Melody know that I have a soundtrack for the story, and songs are linked throughout the episode should the readers choose to have some background music while they read.

While this is by no means a complete list of every song I have used (as much of the story remains to be written), here's a sampling of the soundtrack and why I chose each song. (There are spoilers ahead!)

1. Overture--The Legend of the Rainbow Symphony (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker--The Legendary Hero)

This is my go-to overture or flashback story scene music--the fiddle playing the Zelda theme is my favorite part.

2. Welcome to Asimiro Lodge (Wild Arms--Town Theme)

I was aiming for something peaceful yet exotic (this is a mage's lodge we're entering, after all), and the Western motifs gave the song a sense of adventure and bustling activity I really liked.

3. Dreaming of Adventure (Ash's theme) (Legend of Mana-The Wind Sings of a Journey)

This song always reminded me of a party on an adventure, so this is perfect to give to the hero of our tale.

4. Aspiring Mages (Mario Party 3-Preparations)

I was aiming for a peaceful theme that also had the air of anticipation and excitement as Ash begins his career of mentor to the young mages of Asimiro, unaware of the epic journey ahead

The Rainbow Symphony (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker--Sage Fado)

My go to "When we last left our heroes..." theme or backstory music. In this case it is used when Lugia tells the legend of Rainbow Symphony.

Carried on Heartstrings (Brock's theme) (Dragon Quest 8-Carry These Feelings on the Harp)

I wanted something with a harp in it for Brock's minstrel form (as that is his instrument of choice), and this calm and mysterious theme fit the bill perfectly.

A Promise to Unleash the Colors (Fairy Tail main theme (slow))

The main theme for the whole story--each of the characters has a promise they've made, and the only thing that will fullfill them all is when the ultimate Song Magic, Rainbow Symphony is unleashed.

New Day in Town (Fairy Tail-Happy's theme)

A happy and festive song to set the scene for a morning in a bustling town

A Tale of Wonder (Legend of Mana-Nostalgic Song)

Played when Brock does what he does best--spin a tale

Out of the Ground, Raze All Greenery in Flame! (battle theme 1) (Fairy Tail-Theme of Multiflora)

One of the few times I cheat and allow electric guitars in the soundtrack, if only because they blend with the Celtic instruments to create a scene (at least to me) of a frantic battle raging in a fantasy land.

Guiding Light, Shed Magic Power From Above! (tide turns in heroes' favor) (Fairy Tail--Invoke Magic)

Played whenever the tide of battle turns in favor of our heroes, or when they've found that last bit of strength to see something through to victory!
