I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread, so feel free to move it if it's not the right location, but I was wondering how people felt about Bryce Papenbrook and company's dub performances with this special. Personally, I haven't enjoyed Pokémon in English in a long time until this point and I feel like I would prefer it if the Los Angeles/SDI Media staff were the dubbers for the Main Anime now, although I wanted to get the fandom's input on what you guys thought of them and the dub in general.
I think the voice acting was a huge step up from what we've been getting from TAJ Productions (when they were alone) and DuArt Film & Video's English staff on Pokémon: I was really happy with Bryce Papenbrook's performance as Red, and I think he'd be much more fitting for Ash than Sarah Natochenny has been, and almost as good as Veronica Taylor was despite their voices being quite different from one another. Likewise, I think Johnny Yong Bosch was pretty good as Brock and I also think he'd be much more fitting for Brock than Bill Rogers has been, although I'd still have to say Eric Stuart is still the best VA for Brock to me as I found him more distinct and unique in the role while also providing more versatility in the role. Finally, I think Kyle Hebert's Professor Oak was alright if a tad bit generic/bland, but I'd much prefer his take over James Carter Cathcart's current take on Professor Oak, personally.
Next, I feel the script writing was also a lot better than it has been in the TPCi Era of the Main Anime's English dub, and about on par with the 4Kids Era of the Main Anime's English dub in terms of how well the dialogue was put together and how the statements seemed to flow naturally while also being age appropriate for the characters as well (with a few exceptions here and there like from Blue ergo, "I stands here at the top of Pokémon league/I specifically looked for those tings that" in Episode 4's dub, though...but of course those were very simple mistakes to make, and easily forgivable in my eyes).
Finally, and while this isn't all that important to me at all in contrast to the former two aspects of a dub, 100% of the Original JPN BGM was retained under SDI Media's management, whereas 4Kids and TPCi have both replaced quite a bit of it over the years.
tl;dr Would you prefer it if this staff was the current English staff for the Main Anime instead? I personally would probably go back to watching the English Dub of the Main Anime if these guys took over the dub.
