I have decided to do two projects at once. While I write chapter 10 for Speargun, I have written another fanfic that I plan to do at the same time. Without further ado: Pokémon: the RPG.
"RESTORE THE TOWN TO WHAT IT WAS, PALKIA!" the humans in Alamos Town shouted to the massive pink dragon Palkia, the ruler of space. It looked around and hissed at the protesters. Amongst them was a teenager with tanned skin and shut eyes, a girl with a ridiculously small skirt with a small blue penguin next to her, and a young man with a baseball cap, jeans, and a black-blue shirt. On that child's shoulder perched a small electric rat of the species pikachu. The boy with the pikachu yelled "RESTORE THE TOWN!" again, and Palkia snarled at him. Though he had been calmed down, Palkia knew that Dialga had been the one to start the fight, and if anyone should fix it, it should be Dialga. The child with the pikachu began to get angrier, and finally he ran up and punched the deity of space. Palkia glared at him, and at last decided to restore the humans' precious town. Palkia then leapt up and tore open a portal in space to the great Hall of Legends.
At the Hall of Legends Palkia emerged into the grand hall. Dialga and Kyogre were playing some sort of board game ("CHECKMATE, KYOGRE, NO LONGER ARE YOU RULER OF THE SEAS!," Dialga boomed). Groudon, Regice, and Heatran were all busy talking about politics. Rayquaza and Ho-oh were busy talking about the merits of the move Fly, while Lugia, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos attempted to play Poker. Darkrai and Mewtwo were busy discussing cloning techniques, and Mew was bouncing off the walls. Zekrom, Reshiram, and Celebi were discussing Temporal Tower ("needs more black paint," Zekrom dryly said). Deoxys and Entei were sparring while Raikou, Registeel, and Regirock commented. Manaphy and Suicuine were swim-racing underwater while Uxie played referee. Azelf and Mespirit were talking about "that weirdo that hates us". Finally, Shaymin, Jirachi, Phione, several Rotom, a Porygon Z, and a Sceptile were all crowded around Darkrai's newest secretary, Smugleaf, as he played something.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Palkia asked Smugleaf. Smugleaf pressed a button on his controller and glanced up.
"Must you shout? Us grass-snakes have far more voice control, of course. I am playing Final Fantasy," Smugleaf responded smugly.
"WHAT'S THAT?" Palkia roared.
"A game. You fight monsters with giant swords. You always hate at least one non-evil character. You fight bosses like giant trees. Girly men and girlier villains are the plot focus. Every final boss has at least eighteen final forms. Spells range from useful to waste of money. People fight with instruments, books, and staffs. The hometown is always destroyed. The final weapon and all its power-ups involve things like breaking the laws of physics and dodging lightning bolts. The optional bosses are 10 times as hard as anything else. There is always a crystal involved in some way, shape, or form. That Final Fantasy," Smugleaf smugly said.
"AND PEOPLE LIKE THIS?" Palkia asked in confusion.
"Oh yes. Now, why are you annoying me?" Smugleaf asked smugly, before turning back to the game. Palkia shook its head, leapt into the air, and began an announcement.
"ATTENTION! I, PALKIA, LORD OF SPACE, HEREBY DECLARE THAT I WISH TO START A MEETING!" Palkia roared.
"Of what?" Darkrai asked.
"A MEETING, NOW!" Palkia yelled, and the meeting began. Palkia explained what it wanted to do, and the legendaries looked at it, perplexed.
"So, you want to rewrite the fabric of reality because you were punched by some kid?" Mewtwo asked. "I was punched by the same kid, you know."
"HE DEFIED MY POWER. HE AND ALL HIS LITTLE FRIENDS DEMANDED THAT I FIX SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T EVEN CAUSE. BUT LOOK AT ALL OF YOU! MEWTWO, YOU WERE HUNTED DOWN AND CAPTURED BY HUMANS BECAUSE OF YOUR PHENOMENAL POWER. THE THREE BIRDS WERE ALSO TRACKED DOWN FOR EVIL EXPERIMENTS, BY HUMANS! LUGIA, YOUR MATE AND CHILD WERE CAPTURED BY HUMANS, FOR AMORAL EXPERIMENTS! CELEBI, HUMANS USED YOU TO DESTROY YOUR FOREST HOME! JIRACHI, YOU WERE FORCED BY HUMANS TO DESTROY YOUR VALLEY! THE LAKE TRIO, DIALGA, AND MYSELF WILL ALL BE USED BY HUMANS TO DESTROY OUR WORLD! KYOGRE AND GROUDON WERE AWOKEN BY HUMANS TO KILL EACH OTHER! DEOXYS, YOUR BROTHER WAS HELD BY HUMANS! OUR HABITATS, THE POKéMON, EVERYONE'S LIFE IS MADE WORSE BY THESE HUMANS! THIS PATH THAT I HAVE SUGGESTED WILL MAKE SURE THAT THOSE HUMANS KNOW THEIR PLACE IN THE WORLD! WE WILL BE GODS AS WE ONCE WERE!" Palkia roared. Several legendaries nodded their heads in agreement, but Mewtwo rose into the sky.
"And something Palkia is not showing is that HUMANS FIXED THIS AS WELL!" Mewtwo shouted psychically, and several legendaries nodded in agreement with Mewtwo.
"My best friend is a human," Jirachi yelled.
"My mother is a human too!" Manaphy said. "Right, Uncle Kyogre?"
"Yes, child. While it is true that man awoke me, they also made sure the end of the world did not come about. They protected the Prince, and they try and give back to the seas as much as they take," Kyogre said.
"BUT WITHOUT HUMANS, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN! I HAVE MY OWN SUGGESTION!" Dialga roared. He told everyone his plan.
"Good idea," said someone from the back of the hall. Arceus leapt through the air next to Dialga, and roared, "DIALGA'S PLAN SHALL BE USED! Darkrai, I presume you know what to do?"
"Of course, my Lord. Listen up! We have to take Dialga's plan, whether we like it or not! Now, everyone, jobs shall be assigned!" Darkrai roared. He soared next to Mewtwo and told him, "your job is the fail-safe. You will know the way to restore the proper world. You will be de-powered, of course. The fail-safe engages if..." Darkrai looked about him, before hissing, "if there is an evil empire of some sort."
Mewtwo nodded, and several other legendaries flew next to him and told them their own plans, including Kyogre, Deoxys, Mew, and Heatran. Then, Dialga roared to begin shaping time, and Palkia hissed and began to redraw space. Finally, Giratina arrived to provide balance, and Arceus blasted formative light into the reforming world. Darkrai and Cresselia surrounded Mewtwo in a bubble, and he began to blast into the sky, easily phasing through the roof of the Hall of Legends and into the atmosphere. Mewtwo looked on as Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus reshaped the Earth. However, his view was over soon, and the thick layer of clouds began to become whiter and whiter as massive black clouds formed, making the words "FINAL FANTASY: POKéMON". A cloaked figure with a slim katana-spoon appeared between the 'L' and 'F', a figure Mewtwo recognized as himself. Finally, the words "PRESS START" formed, and Mewtwo, on a whim, dove towards the START, blasting right through the 'A'. As he descended, he heard odd music begin to play as words emerged on passing clouds that Mewtwo rapidly read.
"Long ago, man and pokémon lived in peace and unity throughout the world. Both races relied on each other to survive, both thrived on each other. Eventually, though, great wars began. Man and pokémon unified in a struggle against each other, and eventually the great wars gave rise to pokémon battling." Suddenly, a sudden wind blasted into Mewtwo as the clouds began raining and thundering. The clouds now began to read: "However, several years ago the great and evil emperor Giovanni of the Rocket Empire seized control of the peaceful lands of the world. People were powerless to stop him, and one by one realms and kingdoms fell to his evil wrath. Even pokémon were affected, and the darkness in their hearts resulted in great violence." The weather changed once more as sunlight began to fall on Mewtwo through a convenient hole in the clouds. "Fortunately, a small resistance began, based in the tiny village called Pallet, where one day the greatest hero of all would rise..." Mewtwo then blasted through the clouds and rocketed towards the ground near a small village that Mewtwo knew to be Pallet.
Mewtwo slammed into the ground, making a colossal explosion and creating a large shock wave that spread all over the landscape. Mewtwo turned towards Pallet and began rushing towards it.
-------------------------------------
May and Max Petalburg, two orphaned children from Hoenn, walked through the forests of Johto towards the waterfall that split the Johto and Kanto. They knew that they would have to fight many monsters, but for some reason they had decided to go to Pallet Town, the last home of the rebels. Behind them, of course, was May's rival, Drew, who was also wandering the forest. However, something else was drawing him to Pallet, some soon-to-be great evil. He had been resisting its power, but he knew that if anything happened he would give in to evil.
-------------------------------------
Dawn Berlitz, a rich noble in the forest castle of Twinleaf, could tell that someone somewhere needed her help. She walked off her personal balcony to see her mother and to prepare for the long journey south. Behind her, her Piplup followed, adamant that he would accompany Dawn to wherever she may need to go.
-------------------------------------
Tracey Sketchit, a former painter for the Emperor, ran from an Imperial patrol in Vermillion City. He knew that the best place to hide was Mt. Moon, and so he went there. He also knew that he would one day become important to the safety of the world, because of the small chink of a wall with an intricate design that a wise seer named Agatha had told him was the entrance to the famed Temporal Tower.
-------------------------------------
Team Rocket received their orders and moved out. They were the top pokémon thieves, and they knew who they needed to find: the boy, spoken of in prophecy, that would one day defeat Emperor Giovanni.
-------------------------------------
Misty Waterflower woke up on the banks of the Viridian River. She was going to the rebel stronghold of Pallet after her sisters turned Cerulean City over to the Rocket Empire and threw her out. However, there was no rush, so she took out a fishing rod an prepared to fish.
-------------------------------------
Mewtwo slowly walked into Pallet Town. A large building with multiple smokestacks and a large ranch behind it was to the south of his position. On top of a nearby hill sat a small house with a porch that was being swept by a woman that Mewtwo thought was in her late twenties or early thirties. In between the large building and the house on the hill were several more buildings with numerous shop displays, people browsing, and children playing in the street. One shop had spears and swords dangling from a display stand. Another shop had several large and small shields. A shop with the words 'INN' on it had a pink-haired nurse bowing to anyone that came near, before going inside the inn to escape the noise of several soldiers passing down the street. A flagpole coming up from a sentry tower near the hill house had a large flag bearing the rebel insignia, a pokéball.
Mewtwo walked over to the weapons shop and psychically picked up a rock and whacked the wall of the shop with it. He heard the clang of rock against metal and thought 'metal walls that look like brick. Must be paint'. Then he walked into the shop and over to the counter. "Hello, sir," Mewtwo began, but the shopkeeper stopped him. "Ah, ah, I see you are looking for my top quality weapons! So what will it be? We have wooden swords for 40 Poké, rubber mallet for 100 Poké, a plastic spoon for 60 Poké, a wooden knife for 30 Poké, a wooden rod for 50 Poké, or a walking stick for 50 Poké!" Mewtwo stared blankly at him.
"Hey, Mewtwo, you might need this," someone at Mewtwo's shoulder said. He turned to face Darkrai, who was holding out an odd device.
"Darkrai?" Mewtwo said, but Darkrai shook his head.
"The shopkeeper doesn't see me. As far as he's concerned, you're thinking of what to buy. Here's 200 Poké," Darkrai said, giving him the money, "and this will tell you your initial job and equips," Darkrai finished. "Give it back when you're done."
Mewtwo turned on Darkrai's device. Sure enough, he saw what he had and what he was. According to the device, Mewtwo was a psychic (obviously) that currently had no weapon, no shield, a rough cloak [+2 Def.] ("What's-" Mewtwo said, only to be cut off by Darkrai saying, "you'll get it later."), no shoes, no helmets, and no accessories. The device also said that he could only equip a plastic spoon [+2 Att./+3 Sp. Att.]. "I'll take a plastic spoon," Mewtwo said, handing the shopkeeper 60 Poké. 'If this is what the rebels have, no wonder Team Rocket's winning' Mewtwo thought.
"Maybe if you work with the rebels, I can sell you better stuff," the shopkeeper commented. Mewtwo took the plastic spoon and put it in a pocket on his cloak and left the shop to go to the shield shop. Mewtwo walked over to the counter and began "Excuse me, sir-"
"Ah, ah I see you are looking for my top quality armor and shields! So what will it be? We have wooden shields for 60 Poké, clothes for 20 Poké, swimsuit for 60 Poké, a rough cloak for 100 Poké, a coarse robe for 100 Poké, wooden armor for 100 Poké, latex gloves for 20 Poké, and sandals for 90 Poké!" the shopkeeper said amiably. Mewtwo stared at him, perplexed. Mewtwo glanced at the device and read that he could not equip the swimsuit and that the clothes would be a downgrade, he could not wield shields yet, and his cloak was already good enough.
"I'll buy latex gloves and sandals," Mewtwo sighed, passing the shopkeeper 110 Poké. He put the gloves and sandals on, and read in the device that his defense had gone from '5' to '9'. 'Attack 3, Sp. Attack 10, Defense 9, Sp. Def. 5, Speed 6' Mewtwo thought. Mewtwo walked back outside and ran into Darkrai. He gave the device back to Darkrai, who vanished, and walked into the street to visit the inn.
"Stand back! The hero of legend has arrived! Stand back! The great HERO of LEGEND has arrived!" a voice boomed in the street. Mewtwo stood in the street to see what the noise was while everybody else ran onto sidewalks and began to salute. "ALL BEHOLD THE GREAT HERO: GARY OAK!" the voice shouted, echoing all over the street. A vehicle, somewhat like a car, pulled into the street ever-so-slowly and advanced towards Mewtwo. An announcer ran alongside it, shouting his messages. The vehicle reached Mewtwo and stopped. A boy with spiky brown hair emerged from a window in the door.
"Who are you?!" the boy shouted.
"Gary Oak, I presume?" Mewtwo asked.
"YES! That is who I am! When I was born the sign of legend emerged!" Gary shouted.
"On who? You?" Mewtwo asked.
"THE SIGNS POINT TO ME! I NOW HAVE THE BEST TRAINING! THE BEST EQUIPMENT!" Gary shouted, livid with rage.
"Actually, you're rather stuck-up and rude. You also can't be a day over 15. Chances are you're overreacting," Mewtwo dryly commented.
Gary opened the door of his vehicle and emerged from within it. He had metal armor, a Squirtle, a metal sword, a helmet, metal gloves, metal shoes, and even a jeweled ring. Behind him followed a dozen cheerleaders that began to cheer him on. Gary walked towards Mewtwo and said boastfully, "I challenge you to a duel." There was a white whoosh as Mewtwo's vision suddenly worsened, only to be restored almost immediately. He looked into the sky and saw a cloud with a picture of himself and a picture of Gary. A number by Mewtwo's picture said '1'. "You go first!" Gary shouted.
Mewtwo sighed and looked at the clouds again. He decided to use a Psychic move, and thought for a second, before blasting Gary with Confusion. Gary's heavy armor rattled him further, sending him careening through the dirt. A number appeared over Gary's head of '20'. Gary stood and charged, but Mewtwo's speed and agility allowed him to dodge the attack. Then he used Confusion once more, making another '20' appear and sending Gary to his knees. Gary crawled further and slashed him, causing great pain to Mewtwo. Mewtwo glanced up to see a '29' over his own head. Regardless, Mewtwo stood and charged towards Gary and whacked him with the plastic spoon in the face. Mewtwo looked up and saw 'Critical' and '2' appear over Gary's head, and Gary collapsed.
"Gary... Gary... Gary lost?" the announcer said, before shaking his head. "Mr. Traveler, you have won our respect. Not many people best Gary Oak. Please, feel free to look about and leave."
Mewtwo glanced at the announcer before walking into the inn. "Mr. Traveler, could I talk to you for a moment?" a woman asked. Mewtwo looked at her and recognized her as the one from the house on the hill.
Mewtwo nodded, and the woman began, "I saw what you did in that battle. I need someone to train my son, Ash, to fight. You seem perfect for the job. You see, Gary was wrong about one thing. He was born on the same day as my son, and soon my son will begin his trip into the world. If he is the hero of legend, then he will attract those that have also been chosen. My name's Delia, by the way. Please, come with me."
Mewtwo and Delia walked up to the hill house and walked in the front door, which Mewtwo noted to not have a lock. "ASH! COME MEET... what was your name again?" Delia asked Mewtwo.
"Mewtwo."
"MEWTWO! HE"S GOING TO TRAIN YOU TO FIGHT!"
Upstairs, Ash Ketchum woke up to the screams of his mother to meet someone. He was the perpetual underdog of his rival, Gary, who had everything whenever he wanted, from a car, to equipment, to a hare-... cheerleader squad. Ash was also 15 years old as of today, and he was friends with Gary's grandfather and leader of the resistance, Samuel Oak. Oak had offered Ash a pokémon today, and Ash had overslept for that. Ash hurridly grabbed his clothes and walked downstairs. "Hi, Mom."
"Good morning, Ash. This is Mr. Mewtwo. He is to be your instructor," Delia said. "Are you going to go see Oak now? If you are, Mr. Mewtwo is going to come along."
"Sure thing mom. Time to go see Oak. Come on, mister," Ash said, not even noticing Mewtwo as he began to follow him. For today, the journey of a hero was to begin.
Please review. This is a new idea, and Mewtwo is to be my POV. Might be some shipping in it.
