Are there any pokemons you mistook their types as something else?

I used to think the Piplup evos would gain an Ice-type, due to being based on penguins. Imagine my surprise when they were actually part Steel.

Until this fairy stuff came out I thought charizard should be fire/dragon type. But now I am glad he is not.

I thought Spinda was Psychic. But no, it's Normal. What a waste of an interesting design.

I thought and sometimes still think Fearow is a flying/fire type....but it's just a normal/flying type

I keep mistaking both Eelektrik and Eelektross for Electric/Water types.

Altaria as Normal/Flying.
Azurill as Water.
Elgyem/Beheeyem as Psychic/Rock.
Mudkip as Water/Ground.
Onix as Rock.
Pupitar as Rock/Dark.
Seel as Water/Ice.
Stantler as Normal/Psychic.
Staryu as Water/Psychic.
Steelix as Steel.
Tangela-Tangrowth as Grass/Poison.
Torkoal as Fire/Rock.
Vibrava as Ground/Flying.

So mostly confusion over which stage they gained/switched their typing.

I was pretty sure Luxray was Electric/Dark and I am still disappointed that it isn't. Flygon's design screams Bug-type, yet it is Dragon/Ground... sadly.

- Dunsparce as anything but Normal-type
- Bulbasaur (and family) as pure Grass-type
- Sudowoodo as Grass-type

That's about it, I think.

Thanks for reading.

Groudon seems to have some Fire type in it, but it's only pure Ground.

I thought Lugias were Ice/Flying because of the Pokemon 2000 movie. I didn't know it's actual type until I had one in my team...
Azurill seemed to be Water type, but was surprised that it's just Normal. With the new Fairy-type around, I bet it's gonna be part Fairy.
Groudon does seem like a Fire type, but it's just Ground...what a bummer.
The Eelektross family...I'm surprised/disappointed that they're not Water...
I was surprised that Noctowls were Normal/Flying, not Psychic/Flying.

Luxray - Electric/Dark
Golett, Golurk - Rock/Ghost
Vibrava - part-Bug, at least.
Palpitoad, Seisimitoad - pure Water

...Shouldn't Igglybuff and Wigglytuff be Fairy (now)?

To this day I have to keep reminding myself that Psyduck and Golduck are not part Psychic-types.

Elgyem/Beheeyem as Psychic/Rock.
.

This. I've tried using Surf, Leaf Blade, even Earthquake and I was wondering why none of those were super-effective. It was only after I caught one for myself that I found out it was pure Psychic.

Also, I used to think Geodude was pure Rock because of the anime

The following Pokemon whose type I had mistaken.

Pysduck and Golduck: Psychic/ Water. It could be due to the anime, but I had thought they were Water/ Psychic.
The Slakoth family: I first thought they were Fighting types
Mawile: Steel/ Dark
Groudon: Fire

Groudon is Ground, not Fire. Yeah, I know, right?
Rayquaza is Flying/Dragon. I always thought it was Electric. Fits better.
Dialga--Dragon/Ghost
Palkia--Dragon/Psychic (I was waaay off)

I continually forget (and this is sad, considering I've been playing the games for years) that Psyduck and Golduck are pure Water-types. Same with Milotic for some reason.

And this isn't so much as mistaking... but I sometimes forget Ghost-types are Ghost when they have a secondary type. I remember battling a Froslass and sitting there completely perplexed as to why Aura Sphere wasn't super effective... or effective at all. Derp.
