Pokémon USA launch Internet Safety Program: Pokémon Learning League to be used in Virginia schools

Pokémon USA has teamed up with the Virginia Department of Education to provide administrators, teachers and parents with resources to help them teach students how to stay safe online. This will take effect as an expansion of the lessons already available on Pokémon Learning League.

So basically they're saying "Beware of people claiming to be Lv. 13 Smoochums - they may really be lonely Machokes of at least level 35"?

So...we're going to see Ash and co do public service announcements like G.I. Joe did back in the day?

Somehow I don't see Ash and co going "...and knowing is half the battle." It just doesn't have that same bite.

What?

Oh, I hope he is. His voice was awesome.

Besides his actions mirror those of a pedophille, sure. Irony's awesome.

I like Learning League, and this sounds good for kids.

I know.

It'd be hillarious. The guy popped out from behind a BUSH in one episode.

"Oh, the Battle Pike's closed today. I just came by to see how the girls were doin'."

He's a pedophile AND a pimp.

If this episode of Online Safety is as loltastic as some of the other ones, then I'll definately be watching this one. Even if it means having to create a dummy free trial account.

From what I gather from the screenshots, it appears that Dawn and Zoey are in this one. This is very noteworthy since Zoey is so far the only rival type character to appear in the learning league at all.

Also, anyone notice Dawn's clothing?

Yup, very short skirt. Bad for kids.

But, if I was a 6-10 year old, (which I was LAST YEAR) I'd really enjoy it.

BUT, AGAIN if someone were to hate POKeMON, it would suck for that certain kid in Virginia.

;)

That wasn't even what I was refering to, but good call

Actually, I was talking about how they make her white shirt have sleeves that cover the shoulders.

And the black stockings. Maybe it's because it's launched in Winter 08?

Or maybe she's more pedobait this way.

Oh God, Zoey is in this?

What will that loose harlot whore teach kids about not putting themselves out on the internet?

I find Dawn's clothes pretty funny, its like they covered her up.

I wonder if that's what 4kids would have done if they were still dubbing the show. There's no way in hell I could have seen 4kids let Dawn prance around in a 2-inch skirt, especially since they lengthened Jessie's skirt in a number of episodes...and that's not even noticeable!

It's worth noting that the Learning League's main purpose is to teach children. Not to entertain. Also, the Learning League's advisory board is made up of people with doctrines in teaching and years of experience under their belts. Not exactly the same people you'd expect to be running 4kids.

But honestly, I have no idea really why they decided to alter Dawn's clothing.

...*wishes again for the twerps to get winter outfits if/when they travel the blizzard routes around Snowpoint City*

But yeah, probably for censorship reasons. That made me laugh when you pointed it out, PDL. XD

Perhaps the designer(s) of that website saw some Bulbagarden members posts about Dawn and her attire, sexual or not, and decided it isn't best if they used the same design.

My god, you have no idea how much that made me laugh. ^^ *now has a mental image of Chris Hanson interviewing a Machoke*

I feel bad for all the kids in Virginia who hate Pokémon. :p

Actually, screw Machoke, have Sharpedo be in this.

Oh, and it appears that the water cycle lesson (currently the only one that's up with Dawn in it) is available for a free preview, so go watch it and see how her clothing has been altered.
