The Hoku region is a small region located north of Kanto. It consists of sprawling grass plains, where numerous Pokémon - native or foreign - have settled. The Hoku region is among the oldest regions in the Pokémon world, and many ancient traditions and elements have been preserved. A majority of the city has not been industrialized, and depends on traditional values: hard work, wit, and family. However, in recent history, the creation of Pokémon such as Voltorb, Porygon, and the powerful Mewtwo has sparked a revolution among Hoku and its neighboring regions. Ecosystems have been disturbed to construct impressive concrete jungles and towering steel metropolises.
As the village-life aspect of Hoku's heritage begins to fade, the "New Era" begins. The natives of the land, whose ancient ancestors settled and built there, dubbed themselves the Hoku. A team of individuals - Team Sigma - has brought suffering to the civilizations of old, misusing Pokémon to cause destruction and spread terror. The war's benevolent party seems to be slipping away, and Sigma's forces have pushed farther west into the region, burning forests and establishing their own capital among them: Javelinspire. The Pokémon League has been reluctant to move into the region given the circumstances, and its members are split upon the ethical implications of using Pokémon for expansion.
However, hope is not lost for the Hoku. A Pokémon Trainer and an evil team did battle in the Unova region by summoning two Legendary Beasts: the Dragon of Truth and that of Ideals. The climactic duel between the two ancient forces was powerful enough to awaken another mighty entity from beyond time's recall. The terrible third was trapped beneath the earth of the Hoku region when it challenged the fabled Kami. The heated conflict of two ideologies was enough to melt its icy prison, and the Beast stirs within its sleep. Both sides of the war hope to infuse the third with their values and use it to conquer the other. But until the Dormant wake, the fighting goes on...

Rules
- Follow all BMGf official rules.
- Do not post more than once in a row.
- Keep in-character and out-of-character separate by clearly labeling them.
- Use capital letters sparingly.
- Put NEW ERA (secret phrase) in your sign-up so I know that you read these rules.
- I am the Game Master and will control multiple NPCs, as well as wild Pokémon. Battle outcomes will be decided by those actually doing battle.
- Randomness and silliness is alright, but keep it to a minimum and keep that fourth barrier intact.
- The roleplay is PG, which means no graphic violence or swearing.
- Keep the vowels of the "secret phrase" lowercase.
- Tell me if I forgot any rules. This is my first roleplay in a while, and I'm trying to do my best.
