I was looking at Latias and Latios pictures and thought how cute they are together and wondered if they breed for life...
There are a few real life animals that do it so why not pokemon?

Maybe that's why Legendaries don't like breeding with each other, we didn't catch their "life partner" xD but that's just a random thought there.

What pokemon do you think should mate for life?

I think most Pokemon should mate for life. Whenever I breed, I never breed either of the Pokemon I used with ANY Pokemon but the other. But, that might be just me. :XD2:

Mew and Mewtwo :p lol moreso forced mating on Mewtwo's side but hey ir'd be cute lols

Maybe in the wild. In-game, I'm content with the little buggers committing incest or having licentious affairs in the day care in pursuit of flawless Pokemon. If only that worked well for athletics in real life.

Oh god no. Just no.

I suppose in the wild they would, but once I gain control of them they are forced to develop a ditto fetish.

In the wild: Gallade + Gardevoir and Glalie + Froslass (basically branched evolved forms)

In captivity: anything + Ditto

That, we'll probably never find out unless Ash returns to Alto Mare for some reason. :eek:hdear:

But seriously, it probably varies with Pokemon as it does with humans (if you're talking about the Anime-verse). Most Pokemon seem to have human-level intelligence and definitely more distinct personalities than most real-life animals. Some Pokemon may end up together for life, but (as with humans) others may not.

Aren't the Lati's supposed to be brother and sister? 0.o

Why can't male and female Gardevoirs, or male and female Glalie's breed with each other? -.-'

Oh, I think people don't understand what Bex means, she means that some species should be couple for live, Sentret comes to my mind, I'll update when I think of more.

I'd say it's just like real animals (including us). If ithey invest a long time and a lot of effort to obtain their mate, they'll stay with them for a lot longer than if say, they're just stuck in the daycare for a few minutes.

Depends on their mating ritual. If I had to guess, I'd say the Ralts family, since they're empathic. But I really don't know. I think some birds act that way, too, like penguins.
