Pokemon Wii Teaser

Tell me that isn't the coolest thing yet. I mean, actually affecting the field, attacking both Pokemon at the same time, Pokemon actually making contact, instant fainting, this is about as close to real time as Pokemon will get.

The expected release date, according to Satoru Iwata, is targeted for the end
of 2006. And expected not to far after launch.

(This could roughly translate to a spring-summer 07 NA release. Let's hope they get it here on time!)

Okay. That settles it. I was opposed to the Wii, but since I've seen the super smash bros. clip and now this, I officially need one. I don't want it, I NEED it. That game looks too cool.

Assuming that there's a microphone in the Wii controller, I wonder if we'll be able to pick our Pokémon by making Pokéball throwing motions and saying their names, and actually call out the attacks we want....
Na, I believe they said that the DS would be used as a controller and we also saw the menues come up on screen to decide the attacks and all that.

Truthfully though, that idea of throwing pokeballs like that is just superfluous and gimmicky use of the controller but everyone seems to think its a good idea..

If they have a feature for actually "throwing" and calling out names and attacks, it's going to suck if it's not optional. I can't be yelling out things in my house at all hours.

Oh I am certain that Genius Sonority is itching to bring Shadow Pokemon back again.

Eh, I prefer the stadium games. Colo & weren't my thing and lack the flare that Pokemon Stadium 2 had.

Also, all attacks felt like special effects (fake, liquidy and gasous) rather than attacks. In stadium, they felt like attacks with some weight you know what I am saying?

Eh, this is also a bit more like Colo and XD, but a bit better, that blizzard attack had some weight although the quick freezing thing looked a bad in my opinion.

Also, although it is pretty, pokemon like pikachu and groudon shouldn't look like wax dolls glossed over, repeatedly. Deoxys and wailord I can accept, I do not enjoy it when the only texture on pokemon is this waxy gloss thing, you know?

Really, Colo & XD made battles feel unnatural and like holograms while stadium felt like real creature that are seriously tearing each apart. Maybe cause of the sound effects and the narrator but it felt solid. You know? I can't be the only one who feels like this. Try out the stadium games again and you will see how different they were. And to me, for the better.

I am going to pray that this is going to be more like them.

Actually, bringing back the announcer would be awesome. It was something cool in the stadium games, maybe adding many more types of calls too it would also be good.

I like the idea of the gimmicks. Sure they are bad, but only in overdose, sometimes a gimick can be a good thing. In a stadium game, it's a good thing (I believe) because it already could use more pull to get buyers into it.

Personally I'd prefer this game to be less story elimented, but at the same time, I hope they make it a open-ended adventure. Maybe smaller than DP, but maybe even with a little online element this could be cool.

Also, I think if it had a nursery mode I think it also would be kind of cool. I know that that's definatly asking too much to have an open pokemon box in the game you can visit walking around in, tend to it (by designing the look, and placing garden elements), feed and take care of the monsters (like a mini nintendogs), and take pictures (like a homage to Snap, and the other to Hey You Pikachu).

That's all good and well, but that's purely a graphical matter - I meant more in the sense of storylines :[

Ah, well, both had reasonable story lines, I guess I just wasn't into it cause it was a bit less liberal as the other games.

But yeah, if they have a story mode, it would be nice. Just Colo and XD, barely have a battle mode, all they have is quick battle and group playing if the other people bring their games, GBAs and cords.

Yeah, I obviously preferred stadium's battle modes but still the story of the other games (haven't completed either, having trouble getting into it) were good.

While I'm not entirley sure if those are still the old Stadium models, this game certainly looks badass nonetheless. If that's actual in-game footage we're looking at,then I guess I don't mind if they're using the old models again. They've added some much needed style and flair that Pokemon console games have lacked in the past 2 years. (namely Colosseum and XD)

I'd be perfectly happy if this was 'battle-only' like the Stadium games. If they insist on sticking a Story Mode into the game again,I hope they put a little more effort into it.Colosseum was fairly bleh but at least the ending was nice.XD (while not leaps and bounds better than Colosseum),was a lot more fun to play through but the ending totally sucked IMO.

That looks like an AWESOME game. I like the fact that the physical attacks actually make contact with the target, that always bugged me on the other games. It's too bad the video clip isn't better quality.
