They will be exclusively playable on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The new starters are Browt, Pombon and Gecqua.

The starters really remind me of Rowlet, Froakie, and Pawmot.

If this the longest delay between new generations? Probably a good sign.

Edit: It seems your appearance varies between versions.
 
The game overall looks very solid, I didn't notice any lag this time.

I'm a little indifferent on the starters on first impression, though the sugimori art did make them a bit more likeable to me.

Browt feels so similar to Rowlet it's a bit offputting. Same for Gecqua feeling very similar to Froakie/Sobble. As for Pombon we already have a fire dog but at least it's new for a starter concept.

Last gen I really loved both Fuecoco and Quaxly on first impressions but I'm not feeling any instant love this time. (I ended up picking Quaxly, is there some way I can pick Fuecoco for my starter this gen? :LOL:)
 
The puppy dog is soooo cuuuute. It's a shame I have no interest in getting a Switch 2 anytime soon because that fire pup would absolutely be my pick day one.

I'm not sure really if that would ever have been it's name. Pombomb had a more obvious bomb theming didn't it? It feels like it would make a bit less sense for Pombon to have bomb in it's name.

I'm guessing it's Pomeranian + Bonfire.

It is unusually similar to Pombomb though.
 
2027 is rough. I am not a patient person lol. Better be an early-in-the-year release like PLA was.

It looks good though. Looks like the PLA/SV/PLZA engine, but they seem to be finding their footing with it more. Rocky terrain doesn't look anywhere near as hideous as it has previously, and everything else looks pretty good. The region generally looks great. I love tropical island settings. The shot at the very end of the underwater area A) looked fantastic (I fear it wasn't in-engine though) but B) makes me wonder if some type of Dive feature will be making a return and we'll have underwater routes/areas.

As for the starters, I'm not super enthused by Browt or Pombon, but I love Gecqua. As always though, will wait til I see the final evos before choosing. I've been burned before so I'm fully preparing myself for Inteleon 2. I'll box my starter if I have to lmao.

I was literally just about to say that. It even has the same facial expression. And even if they did change the name, it's still just one letter off.
 
Looks good. Very colourful which I like. They also reeled in the "realistic" textures on the Pokémon I think. Starters I feel neutral about. Honestly they feel a bit too similar to some older starters to stand out imo. I'm most excited about the tropical setting and the apparent verticality of the region. Also, am I the only one who heard a bit of the Hoenn Victory Road theme in the trailer music? They showed a town that reminds me of Pacifidlog too, and with the sea Kyogre could play some kind of role. Lugia may be involved in the Winds version. All in all I'm satisfied with what they showed off so far although I still wanna see more gameplay. Gonna be a long wait but hopefully it'll be worth in the end. I'm gonna pick the gecko starter in Waves probably >_>
 
Part of me does feel like early 2027 (like basically PLA's exact January slot) is likelier (possible copium here) because having gen 10 launch inside the 30th anniversary year is too much marketing synergy to pass up on. They get a big blast of anniversary hype now and then a second wind of it when the game launches towards the end of the anniversary year. And then Pokemon day like a month later to keep momentum up with events and DLC announcments.

When would a Nintendo game ever have a major anniversary occur without launching a major title...
 
I'm hoping for It to be a longer wait. Any time they get to polish and add new features is good. Plus, it gives me more time to actually buy a switch two before then.

The starters were fine. I'm definitely picking Gecqua. Not too excited with the others.
 
I have said in the past that Gen 9 might be the last generation of Pokémon I play. I think I am changing my tune about this. I think I might pick Pombon. It's very cute. Will have to see the final forms though.

Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu are actual characters seemingly important enough to include in the trailer, so I don’t know why anyone here hasn’t commented on them yet.
 
I'm really excited for this game! The little we have of it looks absolutely great! I'm a pokemon fanboy down the the deepest parts of my heart and it's hard for me to be in a bad mood when a new mainline pokemon game is announced. Now to just do my best to dodge the constant negativity that poisons some corners of this fanbase to keep up this excitement until 2027. I do kinda hope that the game is released later in the year so its given as much time in development to be perfect as possible.
