Music Pokemon XYZ Dub Opening

The music was still good and the beat kind of worked too, but it was a pretty solid meh for me. It wasn't a bad opening, but it wasn't a good one either. Being too short was definitely an issue, but the singer still sounded too low and slow for my tastes and the lyrics were a bit too generic for me as well. I prefer for Pokemon openings to be full of more energy and passion since that gets me all excited for watching the episodes. Something that can get me thinking "Heck yeah! Pokemon time!" through the opening song instead of just being okay or meh is usually what I hope for with the new openings. Like I said, it wasn't bad since the music was quite good before the singing started and it might grown on me a bit more after hearing it a few times, but it was still a pretty solid meh overall for me.

I'm not horribly bothered by the 30 second limit, as their hands are truly tied on that one. Regardless, I really like how this went in a completely different direction than the JPN theme (which I can only describe as "Sonic the Hedgehog" music) and did something unique for Pokemon in general while still fitting in The Sad Truth's music style. This is probably my favorite of the XY openings, which I've generally liked anyway.

Now here's hoping I don't get blue balled like I did with Be A Hero and they actually make a long version of it

EDIT: First post? Really? I could have sworn I posted some other time. Oh well

This opening was a kinda disappointing the last two were good ones. The major reasons i think it disappointed was because the opening video used were kinda fast paced. Considering it used XY&Z opening clips, it didn't match up the pace of that song. XY&Z also used lyrics almost matching up with whats going on in the video, and this was just not matching with the clips that were used.

+Uses XY&Z as its base.
+Rythm isn't bad.
+Team Flare's scene is used.
-Amusingly slow.
-Amusingly small amount of lyrics.
-Amusingly small amount of scenes.
-The song is terribly underdeveloped and under-written. It looks more like the first 30 seconds of a song instead of the first verses in a song.
-Uneven editing, as usual. They split the "sun in Kalos" and "Sceptile vs Greninja" scenes in two parts each.
-Ash crying scene isn't used.
-Zygarde evolving scene isn't used.
-It isn't memorable or exciting at all.

The opening isn't atrocious, but they really made a lot of mistakes and the opening doesn't get to the "passable" tier. I could definetely could have done better.

2/10

I like this one so much better than "XY&Z" (it overdid the whole "energetic opening" shtick). With that out of the way, I'd say this opening is second to "Be A Hero" as far as XY dub openings go. As much as I like this theme's mellower and calmer approach, I, too, would've liked to see it have a bit more energy to it. As it is, it had one Quaalude too many. And honestly, when taking all dub openings into account, I don't see this one as worthy of my top ten.

I think it totally sucked. Like I feel as if its one of the worst ones ever. I honestly couldn't imagine the opening getting much worse than season 18, but its really bad. And I'm super disappointed in their choice for the video to go with it, which almost entirely ignores Serena and Clemont, and really any of Ash's Pokemon not Frogadier or Pikachu. The only good thing about it is that its 30 seconds, I used to miss the minute long openings, but the way the last two have gone I'd rather have no opening at all.

Season 18's opening wasn't even bad. Its at least #10 for me, out of 19. This one could have been a WHOLE lot better if they just tweaked it. The vocals should have started the first second and they should have replaced the first "Pokemon. Pokemon. Gotta catch em' all!" with one more line, a small chorus, then end it with "Pokemon. Pokemon. Gotta catch em' all!"

Lets also not forget how lazy they were and didn't even change the episode title screen to match Serena's new design (n)

I actually liked the previous season's opening theme. It wasn't outstanding and being short did hurt it too, but it was a solid okay opening, which is terrific for TPCI openings in my opinion. It started off slow, but not too much and built up to a pretty decent excited ending. This opening by comparison was just plain dull. Revealing most of the lyrics via the promo trailer was definitely a red flag in retrospect. I'd still take it over the majority of BW dub openings, if only because the music itself is actually pretty good and the beat is decent too, but this is easily the weakest of the XY dub openings for me.
