PokemonPlatinum.com launches: Site reveals dubbed names

The article claims that Lucas is known as Plato from now on, but considering that you can change the player character's name (And in the revealing of it, it seems to be that way) there's no way this can be confirmed as a legit change.

Sorry, whoever edited that article. =/
 
Oh! The game of Pokemon Platinum is coming out this Spring. I just heard yesterday on television. It said March something. Around the same day of the year Pokemon Colosseum came out back in 2004.
 
Where's the pic calling Lucas "Plato" anyway? I don't see it anywhere.

And jeez, that Giratina Origin Forme figure looks awesome close up. Totally gonna reserve it next time I go to a retailer. I'm still kinda annoyed that I didn't get the Diamond pre-order stylus due to the guy assuring me they were given out when you get the game itself instead of just when you reserve it. Which was apparently wrong. D:
 
I don't like that they got rid of the e-mail alert for a trade and replaced it with a Wii alert. It doesn't seem as handy to me.

Plato's name is listed on the 4th Shaymin page. I really don't get the point of this. Yeah, it doesn't really matter, but it just seems strange and pointless. I bet the girl and rival will have different default names as well.

They probably changed his name since you could do that in-game for the main character. He could have been named Diamond for all we know. There have been thousands of screenshots just like this for D/P guides that changed his name. This is nothing new. =/
 
Lucas is Plato and Dawn is Tina just as much as Gold was Chris in Crystal and Brendan and May were Landon/Sean and Terra/Marina in Ruby/Sapphire. Remember how the version name always has bearing on at least one of the default names? They just chose that because it'd be dumb to have the player running around as "Reggie" or something. Because you know he has a copy.
