My understanding is that 'Pokemon' is the correct plural term. This is substantiated by a few details.

1) The name of the franchise (being unlikely to refer to a singular).
2) The usage in all games.
3) The usage across the anime.

Yet I still see 'Pokemons' being used across the Bulbagarden Forums. In some contexts, it's obviously played for laughs, in others, I'm less and less convinced that the users are being ironic. Yet at the same time it seems almost impossible that dedicated fans could make such an error.

Comments? Explanation?

I wasn't really sure where to put this grumbling, and I couldn't find a similar topic in the search function.

that could be just incorrect typing grammar that was overlook. I do that sometimes.

Pokémon is correct, a plural 's' for either that or any species name is the same type of lazy overlook as leaving the accent off the é is. :p

Yes, perfectly said.

Although, every now and then, we got to have some pokemanz.

I always say it as "Pokemon" regardless, though I often ignore the accented é since it can be pronounced just the same without it.

By that same standard mixing up "their" and "there" among other things would be perfectly acceptable, and it's clearly not. In languages with high allophony, such as English, you'd expect people to pay even more attention to this than elsewhere, really. Though I can understand if it's omitted because of the difficulty of writing that letter, as AFAIK for example US English keyboard layout doesn't have dead keys, but for example in hand-drawn fanart I can't find that split-second saved at the expense of the correctness to be acceptable.

Pokemon is short for Pocket Monsters, which is plural, so Pokemon should be plural. About the name of the species, I'm not sure.
