Hi everyone! I was sitting around trying to get rid of my writer's block, and thought to myself: "Hey, I'm super-psyched about the European release of B2/W2, so why not write about that?" The result was this little poem, and I thought it would be a shame not to share it with anyone.

I remember a life when things were not so Black and White
The beauty of a Red sunset, and the Blue moonlight
The far-away hills, covered in Green grass
A world of colors, like stained glass
Those gilded years shone bright and Yellow
Memories of a childhood so nice and mellow

An era more precious than any Silver or Gold
A Crystal-clear vision of a story that would unfold
It didn’t matter if you were a girl or a boy
A world filled with flowers was your favorite toy
A lesson was learned about life and love
A lesson I still remember, and that I’m proud of

Then came an age I regard as a gem
Much as a Sapphire, or Ruby, though some would condemn
This age to not be much like an Emerald at all
And maybe this world’s freaky creators had dropped the ball
But with Fire alight, there sprung a new Leaf
And the world filled with colors returned, to our relief

The tale would continue when a mountain arose
Its beauty like a Diamond, a Pearl-encrusted rose
Rarer than Platinum it warmed Heart and Soul
It encouraged us to take our best friends on a stroll
Flowers forgotten, would bloom anew
And travels across great distances became possible, too

And now, our Black and White world seems to grow
A 2nd coming, wrapped in ice and snow
With all our good friends, from the day way back when
You’ll still be in my pocket, because you’re still my friend

Oh, and a big hello to everyone in the forums. Kinda new here, first post and all.

Found this very neat. =) I really liked the third paragraph, since Gen III is my favorite, even though a large portion of the fandom would disagree. My favorite part of your poem has to be the last line, though--it struck me with nostalgia and made me want to play the older games.

Welcome to the forums, Generoman! =D

Thank you! I was kinda trying to play the nostalgia card, while incorporating every version name into the poem, without beeing too obvious (which is HARD!) It became a rather interesting writing exercise for me, and I'm glad someone liked it!

Great poem. Reflecting back at the old game versions and including their names and relevant points was a creative and excellent idea.

The poem flowed well and the composition was thought-out nicely (that "freaky creators" stumped me for a second :D) though I think just a few words could rhyme better.

Overall, really well done.

This is a flippin masterpiece. Very well done.

And welcome to the forums Generoman.
