Oha Suta has just finished airing and revealed one of the features for Black and White, and a rather important one at that. "PokéShift" is how players will be able to transfer their pre-fifth generation Pokémon to the new games. All we know is you have to participate in a minigame to obtain the Pokémon once in Black or White, that this minigame has a timer, and that you need two DS to utilize PokéShift.

So judging by the layout, this is just like Pal Park being one way. While I dislike that, I guess there being a minigame for one way "trades" is better than just transferring it over.

But did we need a timed minigame? It better be master ball instant then because I don't want to get frustrated because I can't catch Mewtwo (in a stupid minigame).

Pal Park was already a mini-game of sorts already so how is this going to be different I wonder...

You could always retry until you win the mini-game. Or the timer is extremely generous. Either way, it's most likely that the penalty might be minor or even neglieible.

Still sounds interesting though.

Does this confirm it takes place a while after DPP? If it was close to it you could just trade.

This sounds terribly restrictive.

And honestly? I thought one of the pluses of the new generation being on the same console (the DS) meant that we wouldn't have to resort to such gimmicks. And also that we might be able to trade to and fro from IV to V at our leisure.

At the very least this confirms how we're going to get them on the gamepak.

but does the timer go up or down?
palpark has a timer but it counts up.(unless im imagining the person giving you something for getting it under a certain time.

A minigame? I dunno... I'll wait to hear more about it, but personally I think it'll get old pretty fast. What's wrong with the old time machine idea? Honestly, I don't see why they have to make it so involved to transfer a couple Pokemon to another game.

I wonder how it would work. Would it involve the DS with the 4gen game cart downloading a program that reads the save?

I also wonder if it would permit the transferring of Spiky-Ear Pichu into the 5th gen games.

No thanks Game Freak. I barely tolerated Pal Park in the beginning, having only six at a time. Couldn't they at least have done what HGSS did, and delete that?

Still, so long as they offer more than 1 a day, it may be okay. Whpo wants to bet they don't though?

Two DS? Who has two DS? Unless you have a friend..But what about us with no friends or friends that don't have a DS?

I guess it'll work with the 3DS.

I know a lot of people who have both but most people have one. For example, I've had my DS for 5 years now.
