I'm not too much a fan of May, but I've always prefered tomboys over girly-girls. I also don't like the fact that she's so perfect. So it's more her personality than the fact that she replaced Misty (though I still wish she hadn't).
 
I think whichever one is more likely to happen in the long run depends on which girl continues traveling with Ash.

If Misty stays off the show permanently, then there's really no point to pair her with Ash if she isn't on the series year after year. Especially with the so-called Orangeshipping hints they've put in the Hosos. If May continues to co-star the series with Ash region after region, then the writers could push them closer together for the sake of having the two leads together. Really though, taking hints aside, it all depends if Misty returns to the group or not. That's pretty much the only deciding factor.

Now you mention it, Roses Ablaze, I have noticed a trend of Ash-shippers wanting their favourite girl to 'get the guy'. Possibly this is a kind of wish-fulfilment - people identify with Misty or May and therefore want them to have the glory of being the hero's love-interest (whether either of the characters want it or not ;)). It could also be that they see Misty-->Ash or May-->Ash in canon, and root for them to get the guy because they don't want a character they like to be heartbroken (I suspect that reason accounts in large part for the huge correlation between Drew-fans and Contestshippers, too).

I'm not really a Pokeshipper or Advanceshipper in terms of preference, so I didn't vote on the poll, but I do prefer Pokeshipping and like Misty more than May, for what that's worth. But there isn't any link between those two things; I don't hate characters just because they contradict my ships. Plus, I don't think Ash and May are interested in each other, so May isn't even a threat as far as I'm concerned.

This poll is confusing the way it's worded. Are you asking us which ship we prefer or are you asking us which girl we prefer?

Because it sounds like you're asking for both, but I'm not so sure. Not to mention, liking one character over the other has nothing to do with liking one ship over the other.

So uh...what is it you're asking again?
 
I'm a die-hard Pokeshipper but my opinions of May, they honestly change extremes when my mood changes.
When I'm in a mellow mood, May's okay, she's quite pretty but when I'm in a bad mood, watch out, I must restrain myself from May-bashing.
When I'm a bad mood I want May either daed or back in Houen.
I used to really like May but I just gave up.
 
The question is basically this: If you're a PokeShipper, what's your opinion of May? If you're an AdvanceShipper, what's your opinion of Misty?
 
Okay... let me see...

I'm mainly an Advanceshipper. I was never a big fan of Misty because she insulted Ash a great deal during the time she was travelling with Ash and hit him a few times if I recall. And she was so bossy also. Over time, I've grown to dislike Misty to the point where I'd wish someone got rid of her for good.

One reason I do like May is because she and Ash get along good and they rarely argue, except for that one episode where they were at each others throats. I forgot the episode title. XD
 
I'm an Advanceshipper. I hate Misty. w00t.

Me hating Misty has nothing to do with shipping preferences though. I like pairing her up with people actually. =0
 
While I do wish she wasn't as much of a cookie cutter as Ash at some points, like Kasumi, I have no problems with her whatsoever. Even if I thought she was a threat to PokéShipping, this isn't the Ranma fandom, I'm not going to go insane over it.
 
I don't care for Misty much anymore, and the writers made a good decision in writing her out of the show. No reason to keep dead weight in the series so to speak, as she has nothing to contribute anymore.

That's not to say I'm an Adbanceshipper, because I'm not. I like May more obviously, but that doesn't mean I automatically support the ship between her and Ash.
 
I don't mind May I just find her a bit boring and uninspiring to be honest, a bit like how some of you guys percieve Tracey I suppose.

Misty irritates the hell out of me too sometimes but I find her character a lot more interesting on top of which she was actually quite funny and I was very fond of her relationship with Ash (Beware PokéShipper on board), even though I used to take Ash's side like everytime.

Ash and Misty have always had a, well, bond, I guess, and May is so perfect and ditzy it disturbs me greatly. I hate May because she is extremely boring, ditzy, girly, perfect, and she is very dull altogether. Misty was much more interesting, and DEFINATELY had flaws. A lot. XD I also really hate the fact that they took Misty off the series, because its not just Ash's show anymore..(yes, I know I'm quoting from Just a Whisper...But its true. XD) Its not the same without Misty. And May is pretty much just the opposite of the kind of girl I believe would be right for Ash. May can go pair up with Brendan or something, for all I care. >< Aaagh...Sorry if I pissed any AdvanceShippers off, but I'm serious, and I am kind of upset right now. Egh. Good to get that out. Sometimes I wish May would just go to hell...She makes me sick...

Oh...sorry...I'm not quite as up-to-date as I like, but that's my impression of May so far..-_- I guess I'm just odd, huh?
