You guys knew it would happen. Pokeshippers may have gotten through the Advanceshipping era unscathed thanks to Contestshipping, but will they be as lucky during the D/P era?

The next big shipping debate is about to begin!

Pokeshipping, (Ash/Misty) Vs. Pearlshipping (Ash/Hikari)

Will Hikari be another May, and end up running off with someone else? Or will Hikari put the final nail in Pokeshipping's coffin?

Ha, I can't wait to see how the next 4 years play out.
 
Ash and Hikari haven't even met yet!

How can we debate when we don't even have anything to formulate opinions upon?
 
They meet in two weeks, it's close enough.

One thing I find surprising is that Misty doesn't seem to be in the last AG episode, so she doesn't even visit Ash before he leaves for Shinou. Is the Gym really busy or is she just not as attached to Ash anymore that she won't even watch him as he goes off to Shinou?
 
How close we are to it doesn't change the fact that we have never ever seen them interact ever. It'll be a while before we see what direction the writers are going to take.

Misty does have responsibilities so she can't rush back to Pallet Town everytime Ash returns. And the writers wanted time for Gary so she would have only got in the way of the episode.
 
It's still way too early to open a debate when we don't even know how Hikari and Ash are going to get along.

Kasumi Special Lure anyone? She still has Ash on her mind. And just because she's not in the preview it doesn't mean she wont be in the episode.
 
I think we should open a sweepstake for who Hikari ends up with, if anyone. Place our bets now so we can get bragging rights later.

Right now it is either Ash, NewGuy, or Gary.

Maybe she'll go for NewGuy then.

I hope they aren't going to rehash Contestshipping this soon. :p Though if Hikari ends up in another bickering pairing, I wouldn't be surprised.

If I had to pick a ship for her, I'd go with Newguy because that's the only permutation for Hikari we know of at the moment that wouldn't be an echo of a past ship. Ash/Hikari is lead male/lead female (Pokeshipping), while Hikari/Gary is lead female/recurring secondary rival character (Contestshipping), but we haven't yet seen the two sidekicks hook up while the hero stands alone. Not that Hikari's a sidekick, but you know what I mean.

If Newguy is Brock's age, though, then rule that ship right out.

I predict that Hikari's LI will be a secondary character we don't know about yet. Hopefully not her rival.
 
Meh I see Hikari/Ash...Ash/Misty haven't gotten together either, so you can't say there together, if any thing Tracey/Misty will get together do to there full amount of togetherness they've spent. Ahhh this is an early debate thread Cyber, did you start one on Serebii forums too or some thing? If so I know there are a lot of PearlShippers on that forum, I should know I started it. Hi Jo-Jo...ROLF Your just lucky Avdancedshippying is gone Cyb, I was going to start one over there once the show started. It was going to be Pearlshippers V.S Advancedshippers.

Wouldn't it be some thing if that new guy was Hikari's brother? HA.

Gary would be Ash's rival, so it wouldn't be too much like Contestshipping (although Gary would still be a secondary rival).

Eh...I don't know. I don't think that it will be Ash. Newguy looks as old as Brock to me.

I think that her love interest will be her rival or, as you said, a secondary character not known yet.

......you know what, strike that, I hope it is a secondary character.
Considering that if Hikari does do contests, her rival could be May.

Why are you guys saying NewGuy looks older than Hikari?

He looks about the same age as her to me, he doesn't even seem to be as tall as Brock was.
 
I couldn't make out how old he was from the CoroCoro pic. He seemed a little bit older than Hikari, but maybe no more than a year or two.
 
I'm going to bet this guy is Hikari's older brother, I've been right about every thing else so far, so why not :P
And there are already a lot of PearlShippers out so I wouldn't say they'd be doing a stupid thing, they'd go the way of a popular ship. And since Ash/Hikari would pretty much be the only ship going on at the moment well yah.

It's stupid not shippingwise, but if Hikari does contests, it would be a a complete rehash of AG (but hey, what else is new?)

It doesn't sound like Hikari will be doing Super contests, its probaly going to be that new guy, that way he won't be a rehash of Brock and will do some thing. Hikari sounds like is going to just be into Legindaries and Team Galxy, maybe they'll introduce some thing else new for her as well though. Than what they could do is introduce a love intrest for this new guy as a girl rival for him and it would be slightliy different from contestshipping ^_^
Than if Hikari and that new guy are brother/sister it would be cute if they had a bit of a snag with both of there relationships, it would be different.
 
Hikari has always been included with the D/P legends on the advertisements, and in the games, the beginning trainer sees a legend before they pick their starter. Plus Hikari looks rather wicked on the new anime poster.

I heard that there's something in the games where you have to beat like 9 Team Galaxy members or something to stop them, maybe that's what Hikari is doing.

Oh yah that would be neat. I think I'll make a speculation thread on the new guy in the anime section, I'm still betting 20$ that he's Hikari's brother, it would make things more intresting that way ^_^
