Since it appears that Pokéthlons are replacing Contests, what will replace Pokeblocks/Poffins? Poke-steriods? Imagine what kind of berries those would come from.... xD

It's simply possible that instead of increasing Cute/Tough/Smart etc when eaten...a berry could just increase new stats. Speed/Stamina/Acceleration or that sort of thing.

Well, this kind of requires knowledge on the berry system used by HGSS. We know that apricorn trees are back in, but we don't know about the berry system. It could be the Gen III/IV one, or it could be the Gen II on, or it could be something different entirely. If berries were common in HGSS, then I think that we'll see some form of pokeblocks/poffin. If berries are rare, then I doubt that we'll see anything.

Ooh. I just thought of something else.

In Gen III, there was the speedy blender for making Pokeblocks.
In Gen IV, we got to mix, stir, and bake Poffin.

If we ARE going to be making something totally new for the Pokethlon...HOW will it be made? Just something I'm now thinking about.

EDIT - Congrats, Phoenicks, on breaking an even 1800 posts!

Well, we've seen berry trees, just not whats on them. Assuming of course that the system is the same as in Gen II, we may not see anything in the form of berry-assisted enhancement.

True as well.

If we WERE to have enhancing berry concoctions, they would have to be distributed evenly for all the minigames.

I don't see that happening for things like the trampoline game.

GREPA BERRIES INCREASE YOUR BOUNCING POWER! PECHA BERRIES MAKE YOUR DUNSPARCE PLUMMET LIKE A ROCK!

what im wondering is wats gonna happen with milotic are you going to have to trade just to evolve feebas

Why is everyone assuming Pokethlon replacing contests? ._. Why can't they have both?

There could be a berry blender and you could blend your berry into a tasty shake or a healthy drink. *shot* Yeah, I don't have any good ideas. xD

I love your suggestion :D

Some sort of Poke-shake would work quite well in my oppinion. Maybe you could make them with berries and then if you wanted to make super-duper ones you could some add some Carbos or whatever. (Or we simply have some new berries for the Pokethlons)

I have to agree. Aside from people who don't like contests, I see nothing to indicate they're being tossed in favor of Pokethlon. Of course they're going to show off "new" features before returning ones.

I have to agree. The problem is, we've seen no sign they are in. Even the accessories bit we had early on didn't really say what they were for.

Poke-shake or ice cream would be nice
Really nice

Apricorns are mixed up to make drinks that increase stats. Coro coro scans confirm.

At the top of the first scan, we are introduced to a new system, which explains a little bit more about how the stars work for the Pokethlon. Apricons can be mixed into drinks that are solely for the Pokethlon. The Japanese word for 'Apricorn' is 'Bonguri,' and this new item is called the "Bon Shaker." I'll just call it the "Apricorn Shaker" Toungue Using the Apricorn Shaker, you can make, what in Japanese is called a 'Bon Drink,' which I will loosely leave as "Apricorn Drink." This is how it works:

1. Place Apricorns inside of Apricorn Shaker
2. Walk around for a little while
3. Once done, feed to your Pokemon

In the example they show Chikorita has gained one star in Speed for the Pokethlon.

Pokesmoothies weren't far off, then. Although I have to admit, a smoothie made only with nuts does not sound very appetizing...

I'd also like to point out that this means Berries may still be used for Poffins/Pokeblocks, in case they bring back the contests. While we haven't seen any evidence of contests returning, I just think that's because they're showing off features that will be new to the current players, people who are more familiar with DPPt than GSC.

Yes, I posted something similar in another thread. What're ya gonna do about it? Huh? You wanna go? Huh? Huh?

This "apricorn drink" business just made Pokéthlon look more like a Contest replacement for me. They could have Contests, of course, but I think they'll be in Kanto instead of Johto.

Good to see the apricorns having multiple purposes, too.

Actually, this might be a good point. Pokethalon for Johto and contests for kanto. I think that actually sounds like a grand idea.
