how exactly does it know when you r walking and not like cheating by shaking it with your hands

I dunno I just know technology can be a mysterious thing sometimes... it might be the motion... like the Wii motes if you ever worked or been around those... the wii motes know where you are on the screen... weather you are shaking them or not... I think same kind of mechanics on detecting what you are doing... so if you are shaking it knows that it wouldn't work with that unless maybe shaking it while walking? I dunno I don't have one so can not say how it works quite yet =D

It doesnt know,if you want to cheat just grab it and drop it on the table and grab it and repeat,

however, there is a sensor built in that can tell if you are shaking it in your hand, meaning that you gain 1 watt for every six shakes or something like that. It's complicated and whatnot. Couldn't you have asked this in the simple questions thread or the actual pokewalker thread?
