Pokken Tournament is going to Wii U

Meh. We've been expecting this for over a year.

Also, I didn't really notice it before, but those Pokemon models look too realistic and furry, they're dangerously close to falling into the Uncanny Valley.

That trailer made me really hyped for this. I still need to buy a Wii U though...

I hope they end up adding more playable Pokemon, because even with Pikachu Libre there's only 10.

That's cool and all, but I'd be more excited if we had a more diverse, interesting roster beyond ones who are ALREADY really popular and/or can mega-evolve.

Also, NOT happy we're getting another Pikachu.
I already have to put with clones in Super Smach Bros., I'm not happy to have one here...

I'm a fan of "traditional" fighters, though i'm not very good at them. I'll be picking this up probably day 1 then play it constantly to get super good XD I kind of want them to make a home console version of the Arcade controller, maybe in a bundle or something.

I just know I'm going to be bored within seconds if I buy it anyway, purely personal opinion. But, I've been a long time fan of the Tekken series, there was depth (to most characters), a little bit of a story (a big story in most cases), different modes, more playable characters, and more areas to fight in.

If their sticking with Pokken as it is at the moment (which I doubt), releasing this on Wii U is a huge mistake. If this game almost lacks any of the above, not just me, but many people will be disappointed. I hope they take the time in the months leading up to it's release, to see the potential of the game, push for more playable characters, and take advantage of how badass these graphics are.

If it stays like this, my answer will always be "meh, that Pokémon fighting game that had potential but never went anywhere."

I honestly hope this gets an Amiibo line, it'd be epic. However, not to be a downer, but this IS the same company, TPCI, that wouldn't let Nintendo use sound clips of Pokemon for Mario Maker, and i believe at one point they said Amiibo would have to have "amazing" content involved with them for it to go with a Pokemon game (Though there's precedent for this, as Pokemon Rumble U used the WiiU's NFC capabilities and Junichi Masuda said he'd be open minded about Amiibo if they can find ways to add new types of gameplay to the franchise) TL;DR where's my Gengar Amiibo

This really is worth buying a Wii U (This and Mario kart - of course. Can't have a Nintendo console without that).

Can't really afford one though, since i'm going to invest all my spare money into a 2DS and tattoos. Still, i'm not surprised after all the positive feedback and clamour for an international release.

You could say that about a lot of Pokémon games outside of the Main Series... :-(

Though yeah, those are all very good points. I'd certainly like to see Pokémon in stories similar to Tekken's!

Unfortunately, knowing Gamefreak/Nintendo, it'll be yet another squandered chance to do something different and interesting in favor of pandering to kids and casuals...

There's a reason Ishihara announced this at the World Tournament. Last year, he mentioned wanting to add Pokken to be a third pillar along with the TCG and VGC, so I wouldn't worry about a lack of proper support since the CEO of TPC is trying really hard to make Pokken a thing.

Though in terms of story...the player seems to have an in-game trainer avatar from the footage, and it looks to be some generic (though customizable) character which makes me doubt there will be a story.

I will be buying it for sure. Should be fun to have/play with others much like Smash Bros.

Though it's rather unlikely, I hope we get some strange additions, like Turtwig or Hydreigon. The roster is what will really make or break me on this game :/

I agree they should add more diversity to the Wii U version, but either way, I am looking forward to this. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

They added Suicune, Machamp, and Weavile. I think they aren't exactly lacking in that department just yet.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet, there are 4 slots left (excluding Libré Pikachu) on the character selection screen, still very mediocre but I can deal. If there's only a few left to reveal, it doesn't seem as promising as it's hyped up to be.

If there isn't going to be some form of story mode, this will get very boring, very quick. I would also like some more quadruped Pokémon personally.

EDIT: I could just be referring to the Arcade version of the game, as we haven't seen a screenshot of the character selection on the Wii U yet I don't think. Praying for more playable characters!
