Heya. It's been a year since I posted on this forum.
The reason I came back was because I saw that over a thousand have checked my previous thread with my pokemon calculator beta.
I've been thinking of continuing this project, so my question to you is: would you use this software if I was to continue the development?

Summary: The pokemon Calculator

You will be able to:

* Calculate EV/IV for ANY type of pokemon up to Pokémon Platinum
* Calculate the percentage of catching any pokemon with ease
* Calculate damage of your moves
* <insert feature here> (this is a project open for suggestions, so just tell me what you want and I'll think about it.)

This software will be runnable on windows and I may even make a Java version of it if there's a lot of Mac/Unix users out there.
So instead of going on the web for calculators or doing all the math yourself, this is the ultimate solution: An all in one calculator right on your desktop.

I want everyone who reads this thread to vote and/or post a comment.
I just want to give something back to the bulbapedia forums :)

Cheers!

Development:

Implemented feautures:
* Damage Calculator
* Catchrate Calculator
* Hidden power calculator
* Reverse IV calculator
* Open platform version (For MAC/Unix and so on) *Download Mono, link is at the bottom*

Member wishlist:
Come on, more wishes, I'm outprogramming you :3

Recent updates:
March 29: Beta 0.5 released
IV calculation has been completed.
Please read on bulbapedia on how to use EV/IV correctly.
In short: To get a somewhat accurate IV calculation, have your pokemon at lv50 by keeping a record on how many EVs you've gathered together, or level a new pokemon to 50 with rare candies. LV100 is the most accurate but also the most time consuming for obvious reasons :p
Hidden power calculator has been implemented into the IV calc, this is *often* accurate but not all the time if you don't know the EVs for your pokemon.

Download links will appear as attachments here.
To run the program you will need to download .NET framework 3.5 otherwise it doesn't work.
download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

For MAC / Unix users there is an awesome software that allows you to run .NET applications eventhough you don't have windows.
Get it here:
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html
After you've installed it just type: mono pokecalcSHARP.exe in a commandprompt when you're located in that folder.
If you can't get something to work or just want to ask something, shoot, I'll be glad to help :)

Bump for adding a picture of the beta so people can understand a bit more of what I'm talking about.

I think something like this would be great.
Is it easy to use, too? I'm baffled by the ones on websites. D:

And as the for beta, do you have a link to download it?

I must say that it is very easy to use, as you can see: for this one, there are textfields(and also a list) of every pokemon/ball there is. So just type(or select) your options and the calculator wil automatically calculate the procrate, no need to press any weird buttons and such :)

I can give you the beta later, just have to clean up some mess I've made with the UI. But I will have to re-write the code from scratch because it looks like shit atm.

The last one was quite handy. I wouldn't mind an update for Plat.

Ah, you were named guitar hero earlier, right? You were like one out of two committed to this project earlier ^^

And for both comments:
As it is now only the catchrate is made properly.
The EV/IV calc is about 30% complete.
I'll rewrite the code as fast as I can to put up a stable release with both EV/IV and Catchrate.

I was also thinking about adding routes+stats for every pokemon(kind of like a pokedex), but I think I have to limit myself to only D/P/Platinum routes, a looot of work to get that one going^^

Metalkid's calculator is pretty great, but no Platinum update for damage calcs, so maybe I'd use yours.

Yes, but the main purpose of this is that you don't need internet to use this.
Lets say that you have a laptop and you're playing pokemon where you don't have access to the internet. Then you have this tool for all your calculations :)
And another reason for me creating this app is to have all the tools in one place.

Well, I'm pretty much disabled as it is now. Serebii is down and that is my resource for game mechanics XD

So if someone has the accurate algorithms for determining EV/IV and damage calculations that would be awesome. Until then I'm going to work some more on the code.

I remade the UI a little, it now has tabs instead of buttons (which i think is better).
And to give a brief performance report, on my pc it consumes 14mb memory and is basically on 0% cpu at all times. So it's not that much of a resource hog ^^

Algorithms for EVs and IVs to stats? It's one equation, and it's on Bulbapedia. [bp=Stats#Formula]Go crazy.[/bp]

awesome, thanks.
if all goes well I've at least implemented the damage calculations tonight.
I need to have a thinker for the EV/IV calculation part to understand it correctly since I've never used it before.

D: Exactly! I hate having to have an internet connection to use calculators. I totally support you on this. I'd love to see it finished-- I'd use it all the time. ♥ Especially with Platinum stats, like many mentioned.

Wow, I'm impressed that people are so interested in this ^^
8 out of 9 has voted for "yes" so far.

I would definitely use this, and I know others who would too. Not having internet can be a real problem when your entire dorm building gets no wireless and you only have one ethernet cord. An additional feature that I might suggest is basically the reverse of the EV/IV calculator. It would give you the stats when you input the EVs/IVs/Nature/Pokemon. Also a hidden power calculator would be nice.

That sounds a bit easier to start with. I might want to go for that before I dig more into the EV/IV calc, I'll look into it tomorrow, I have some time left over so I'll probably continue to implement this :)

Thanks for your opinion.

Bump for new beta:

I've released beta 0.2. Nothing much for you guys.
Just to show you that I'm working and not pooping on the floor here.
NEW: Layout has changed, the calculations are performed differently and I've just implemented a function for rounding decimals down for the damage calculation function.
