Since brawl had Red representing Gen I which trainer and starters do you think should appear in the upcoming smash bros?

First: Why didn't you actually make this a poll (or did it just not load?)? Anyways... I think Gens II, III, and V. They already have something from I and IV on Brawl. As for the trainer, it should be the BW2 guy, because the next SSB will be out after BW2.

Someone already beat you to it with a more complex poll: http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f323/who-would-you-choose-pokémon-trainer-ssbb4-131462/

Since it's tradition to add two new Pokemon reps in each SSB title, it's more likely that the two new reps will advertise both BW1 and BW2. For BW1, it may be Hilda (with a popular older gen Pokemon for BW2), but for BW2, it may be Dawn (with Zoroark, Krokorok, or Scraggy/Scrafty for BW1) due to her appearance in the anime.

Remember guys, Masahiro Sakurai only started work on SSB4 in March (after he finished Kid Icarus: Uprising), so I don't expect SSB4 to come out until at least 2014, maybe 2015. And I'm sure Gen VI would have started by then, so I expect an assortment of Gen V and VI characters, as well as the regulars (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Lucario, Pokemon Trainer).

Well that entirely depends on how the roster is set up. Will Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon have 5 reps or 6 reps? Lucario is more likely be axed as his only purpose was to advertise Gen IV. It has been my lifelong dream to see a female trainer in SSB to co-exist with Red (I wouldn't mind if she's a one-time character).
