Am I the only one bothered by the likes of Porygon's lack of screen time?

No, you're not. I think TV Tokyo should have faith in Porygon, and to a lesser extent, Porygon2 and PorygonZ. It wasn't even Porygon who started the epileptic seizures- it was stupid Ash, stupidly telling Pikachu to stupidly hit something with a stupid Thundershock. Ash should of got no screen time for that crime.

No,its a very forgotten issue by now...but Its not fair for Porygon z and 2 to pay for the crimes of their legacy!D:

I find it extremely stupid that they don't show Porygon again and never showed for even a second its evolution forms...
Porygon would remind people of the accident? with the same logic you can say the whole Pokémon anime (or even the whole Poké franchise, games and all) will remind them of it, so why can that continue?
Not to mention most of the Pokémon fans still see Porygon and its evolution anyway in the games/cards/other merchanside/the internet... so it's really pointless to hide from them something they'll see anyway =\
Poor Porygon... I like it and its evolutions and it's really sad we'll probably never see them in the anime

According to who? Americans, sure, but it wasn't your children who suffered from seizures, now was it?

I still can't see how a cartoon character can be blamed for this... as I said, if the problem is that Porygon would remind them the accident, wouldn't the whole Pokémon anime remind them that? or even the games or cards or other merchandise?
Why is it allright to remind these people the accident in the games/cards/merchandise but not in the anime? they even gave it new evolutions in the games TWICE... they sure aren't trying to cause us to forget about it
It's just stupid to blame a character, which sure can appear again without causing any harm and actually be an interesting and entertaining character
Not to mention it's ridiculous to showcase ALL the Pokémon except for 3

Pikachu is the one that should be taken off-air, so bring back Porygon/2/Z

becouse of this,Im not trying to sound like an insesnsible rat or something, but its been 12 years since the incident, the people who experiment it either hate pokemon in general or have forgiven it by now.I dont see how it is such a big deal now.

Originally it made sense because when the incident hit the press, parents saw little pictures of Porygon everywhere on the news and heard about this "deadly" episode, so if they were to air another episode with Porygon it's likely it would have been mistaken for the bad one... so they parents would turn the TV off, complain to the network, and never let their kids watch again because they didn't think Nintendo was "responsible" enough or something. With all the other controversy at the time they didn't need any more risks.

Now it's just stupid to hold back on it. Nobody cares anymore, and it's one of the most requested Pokemon to return.

I don't even know why Porygon (and its evos) hasn't had an anime appearance as of now. That "seizure" episode might have something to do with it (even though Pikachu's Thunderbolt caused the flashing lights).

About that... since we've all read the summaries or seen the episode, we know it was Pikachu, but it's not about "fairness". The thing distinguishing the episode from others was that it had Porygon, and as of then (and NOW, heheh) it was the ONLY episode with Porygon in it. Parents aren't going to say "Oh, Pikachu did it, this NEW episode about Porygon is surely safe for Jimmy to watch" if they made a sequel, they would go "OH GOD EVIL POLYGON THING SEIZURES TURN OFF BAN POKEYMAN FROM THE HOUSE!"

Also keep in mind that we didn't have a way to go and watch it then. It was shown ONCE in Japan, and what we had was based on eye-witness :)lol:) reports... that were translated into English... then rewritten by the media... it wasn't on the news that "PIKACHU CAUSES SEIZURES", it was that "EPISODE STARRING PORYGON INJURES HUNDREDS OF KIDS IN JAPAN". Seriously, the theories at the time ranged from secret governmental brainwave technology to demonic possession. I wish I was joking, but as a society we were REALLY out there with our thoughts on the subject and Nintendo could never really be too careful.

Well... how about when you have kids, someone make them have a seizure, and then we'll see how you feel, even after ten+ years about the person caused the seizure.

Seizures are not nice things, most types of seizure are nearly traumatising to have, and horrible to witness (or, from what I've heard), so it's not surprising Porygon hasn't gotten any screen time.

Even though it wasn't Porygon's fault, not were Porygon 2 or Porygon-Z related to the incident, it's probably best if the Animé producers don't air an episode with any of them in, lest some parent some were gets offended and sues- which is likely.

I'm not really too bothered by the fact the Porygon-line don't get any screentime, anyway.

Yeah,I got that the first time,Im just saying that if one person had one back then, and it was horrible and traumatising,I dont see them keeping in track with the series now,so even if the thing got some screentime, how would they know?

While I'm not bothered by it, I think they should consider putting in at least the evolutions. At this point it should be water under the bridge and I'm pretty sure everyone working on the anime learned their lesson (thus those warnings on anime episodes airing in Japan telling people not to sit close to the TV) and won't make a mistake like that again. Even just putting it in the background among other pokémon would be okay. I don't think they should focus on it, but at least give them a background cameo. :p

That still doesn't make any sense to not show Porygon and its evolutions
People who were hurt by the accident will probably remember it every time they see the Pokémon anime (or any Poké related thing) so why THIS is allowed to continue? also, you're talking as if Porygon is a real life person who came and caused seizure to poor kids -_- it's a cartoon character that can't be blamed for the animator's stupidity
Also, anyone who is still a Pokémon fan to this day, probably constantly see Porygon in the games/cards/merchandise/internet (I think Porygon2 was even used together with Pikachu as a symbol of the Pokémon Center in Japan)
And if they truly wanted us to forget about Pory, they wouldn't constantly make new evolutions for it
I don't care what anyone says, it's extremely stupid and annoying that they don't show the Pory line =\

I suppose the writers are still concerned about the memories of that episode. It's pretty much their Potterwar.

You guys obviously don't know how the Japanese media handles things.

Whenever there's any sort of scandal with a public figure in Japan - be it a pop star or a politician or a cartoon character - said personality almost always vanishes from the public eye. Yamamoto Keiichi was a comedian who got arrested for allegedly sleeping with a minor, so the networks actually went into his older shows and edited him out of the reruns. When the drummer for L'Arc-en-Ciel got arrested for possession of heroin, their song "The Fourth Avenue Cafe," which had been the ending theme for Rurouni Kenshin, was quickly replaced with another song the following week.

The political system is just as crazy, with Prime Ministers barely lasting a year before resigning because of some scandal or another. Japan's political system is like a freaking revolving door.

Porygon being banned from the TV series is just a case of the Japanese media doing what they always do in situations like this. Are they overreacting? Yeah, you could argue that. But it's in no way unprecedented.

So basically what you're telling me is that Porygon is a druggie.

And it seems like his past haunts him no matter how much he changes his image! Blast the Japanese media!

I'm still surprised that they made two evolutions beyond Porygon. And I'm not trying to joke when I say this, but Porygon-Z's appearance doesn't exactly look like a way for people to forget the seizure scene. -__-
