I posted about this in another thread with a few of my ideas, but I would love to hear all of yours too!

Currently in Orre we have the following pokemon living in the wild:
Rock Pokespot habitat
-Sandshrew (lives in the rocky areas and can absorb water through its skin to survive. Gets food from somewhere?)
-Gligar (presumably hunts Sandshrew or exposed Trapinch)
-Trapinch (trap-door predator that eats something. Perhaps Sandshrew?)
I think there has to be small shrubbery here for this to work. Sandshrew can forage for that.

Oasis Pokespot habitat
-Surskit (feeds off of tiny organisms in ponds)
-Hoppip (presumably an herbivore)
-Phanpy (herbivore)

Cave Pokespot habitat
-Aron (feeds off of iron ore)
-Wooper (presumably there are pools of water in the caves for it to live in and eat moss)
-Zubat (predator of something. ???)

We have no choice but to accept that these are functioning ecosystems, even if they seem a little iffy as to how well they could sustain themselves. But 22 species does not make a full pokedex, so I need your help to figure out what pokemon could be introduced into the Orre region!

My thoughts:
-Roggenrola and its evolutions absorb solar power for energy. They would probably flourish out in the open desert.
-Geodude and its evolutions eat rock. They could serve as predators for the probably abundant Roggenrola/Boldore.
-Helioptle and Heliolisk are mentioned specifically as pokemon that need only sunlight to survive. They would also be a good fit and provide the possibility for predators that eat organic material (Mightyena?)

What do you guys think would survive well in Orre? Bonus points if you can have two species interact with each other!

First off, those Pokémon are not the only wild Pokémon in Orre. They are the only obtainable wild Pokémon in Orre. I think that all of the encountered Pokémon throughout Colosseum and Gale of Darkness can be counted as Orre natives, with maybe the exception of two or three. However, if what you're looking for are Pokémon not found in the games whose living conditions can be met in Orre, than I'll give my two cents below.

Currently, I'm writing a story that takes place in Orre, and what I have done is split the region into two parts; West Orre and East Orre. Like the Kalos Pokédex, the Orre Pokédex is split into two sections that reflect each part. West Orre is very lush and is filled with Pokémon one might find in forests or other grassy areas, whereas East Orre is a desert home to many Pokémon in the Mineral egg group. East Orre also has quite a few deserted areas, such as the S.S. Libra and Shadow Pokémon Factory. In places like these, I think there would be some ghost and electric-type Pokémon who find these places very suitable to their standards.

I would also say that due to the region's geographical location, a lot of Pokémon found in Unova would also be found in Orre. I'm sure that other Pokémon native to Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kalos would also be find there, but I think that the population of Unova native Pokémon such as Sandile and Drilbur would be greater.

Desert inhabitants... Cacnea/Cacturne could easily thrive in a desert. And could feed off of Nincada, who live underground (while Cacnea is presumably a photosynthesizing plant, Cacturne is stated to feed off of tired desert travelers come nightfall).

When the Nincada emerge in mass numbers from underground to evolve into Ninjask, the Cacturne could strike. This would also help whittle down the number of Ninjask. If one assumes that Pokémon behave like their real-world counterparts, Ninjask would be the bane of any garden, so whittling down their numbers could prevent a cicada invasion.

The first Pokemon that came to mind were Maractus and Golett. Maractus is, well, a cactus, and Golett could probably be found in said abandoned areas where Cipher used to be. There are also various small caves around Orre, which Zubat, Woobat, and Noibat could probably inhabit if there was a suitable source of sustenance nearby. The Agate Town area could easily contain several Fairy-, Grass-, and Bug-types, as well as a few Water-types. Citadark Isle would obviously have numerous Fire-types, especially Houndour. It's too bad The Under doesn't exist anymore, or else a few Electric-types could thrive.

I mean, it does exist. Sort of! It's an underground city previously used for mining (...coal?). So if it was a former coal mine, I imagine Torkoal would love it down there

I've always imagined that, since Orre is the based on Arizona sate in the USA, that quite a few of Unova natives that are found in the Desert Resort could be found that as well. This includes Maractus, Darumaka and Darmanitan, Scraggy and Scrafty, the Sandile line, the Yamask line (let's face it; Orre has a lose government structure, so people dying and being caved in might happen quite a lot), etc. Of course, all of this is assuming that the geography of the Pokémon World is similar to ours with Unova and Orre being two states of the same country like New York and Arizona are in real life.

It seems every region is a country on it's own. Kanto is a country, as is Johto, Unova and so go on...

But their geography, culture and demographics are similar, let's say, so Orre probably is bording Unova, or are next to each other, so your statement that the Desert Resort contains Pokemon inhabiting Orre makes a lot of sense.

Particularly I always thought that regions like Orre, Fiore, etc .. are smaller than the main games regions .
Moreover, there isn't unique-typical Pokemon there, I mean, their wildlife are nothing special.

I've always thought of the main regions as being about... the size of a medium country. (Nothing too big, more like Germany or France rather than Russia and Greenland) while the Ranger/XD/PMD regions would be as big as... Alaska or Hawaii. A medium-sized state.
