I've looked this up on a few different places, but can't seem to find a satisfactory explanation about the mechanics for determining who/how many people end up in said area.
For example, if I start with an empty city and connect with another player's white forest (making sure to talk to all available people there), how close would that put me to the maximum population in my game? Do the people that I encounter change every day? Or is there some queue system where the next person in the queue is inserted into the city once someone leaves? How can I get rid of select people (like Lynette) and replace them with individuals I want (like Ralph)? What is this "Leaving Value" listed for the inhabitants on Serebii?
I would like to better understand this part of the game, but it seems pretty opaque as far as getting specific things out of it. I really want to be able to farm for Evolutionary Stones, but it appears I have none of the trainers necessary for any of them in my game at the moment.
