I have the Japanese version of Porygon-Z Lv. X. POP rules require that, to use foreign cards, an English version of the card must have been released in America and be Modified-legal and that the player has the official Card-Dex entry for the English version. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but the Japanese and English versions of Porygon-Z Lv. X have different art by the same artist. Would I still be allowed to play this card, or does the change in art prevent it from being played?

No, if the card has not been released with that art in America it's not legal.

You'd be more of an expert than I am in this matter, but are you absolutely sure that's correct? I mean, it seems ridiculous that a foreign card would be illegal merely due to its art...

If it's the same card with the same stuff, I'd imagine that it's completely legal. That would only make sense.

It's not legal. They made this a rule a while ago when the LV.X alternate artwork cards were released in Japan. I think they did it because kids wouldn't be able to recognize the cards, which could lead to conflict. But yes, I'm not just making it up and I am 100% sure it's right. :p

But there's been a history of alt-art cards being released. Why wait until recently?
