Okay, so I went through five pages of threads and didn't see anything about this, so, *crosses fingers* I hope it doesn't get closed!

One thing I never liked about any Pokemon game was the fact that you were stuck with a generic character that looked the same throughout the whole game. I personally think in Generation V they should go the nine yards and let you finally be able to customize your character. I mean, I know, there are already pictures up of the new main characters, but maybe later on one might be able to buy different articles of clothing, such as shirts, shorts, etc. Different styles of bags, even. There could even be special articles of clothing unlocked from in-game events. (I want a pair of Zoroark-themed gloves.)

Anybody have ANY sort of speculation about this? I hope it doesn't get closed.

If that's the case, it'd be nice to see the other trainer in the Union Room instead of some generic game NPC.

Well, since they had that option in the new Ranger game, maybe they'll put it in.

Having Pokemon follow you was HGSS' unique thing, so I think maybe B&W will be unique with clothing custiomizations.

I hope so. I mean, in HG, there is only six sprites to choose from to show your appearance in the Wi-Fi Club/Union Room. I've mistaken my friends for other people sometimes. :p

I do NOT like this idea. I don't want them to just screw everything up.

I agree with this 100%. I don't really care what the character looks like. the only time you ever see your character is in the tiny overworld sprite or your looking at their back when you enter a battle. If you want to customize the character the only time it'd really show a difference is on the trainer card.

I think it'd be pretty fresh to be able to customize the trainer. I'd want some tight poke-bling and some ballin' threads (by that, I mean a Wobbuffet t-shirt). I don't see how a feature like this could "ruin" a game. Even if it weren't too apparent while walking around, I think it'd be something cool to have.

btw, can I opt to not wear a hat? Seriously, homie don't play that game. My hair's way too gorgeous to be covered by some goofy lookin' hat...

I don't like any of the things said here!

Last post was over two months ago, so its fine.

Whoa, last post was mine, too! D:

I still would like some customization. I could have my guy lose his jacket, hehe. Don't get me wrong, I love the jacket, it's a sexy jacket, but I want him to go sleeveless like the girl too. ._.

I'm not really concerned all that much about customizing clothes, it's the hair thing. All (or most all) of the character sprites have had dark hair, and it really bugs me. I have red hair, and I was really hoping in Gen. V that they would step up the options. Maybe it's still an option...?

Seeing as we've had art of the trainers released now, I don't think full character customization will be implemented into the game, and I doubt changing hair-styles and clothing and so on will be implemented.

But, damn it, it should be.

I kinda fail to see how a simple thing like character customization would ruin a game, especially one that's spanned over ten years and would only benefit from something like that. Give us a reason why you think that way, and maybe it'll be taken into consideration. But simply saying it would screw it up doesn't make sense.

I agree with the fact that it would be a tad bit hard to recognize new designs in the overworld, but it'd be the battle sprite shown during interactions in the Union Room/Wi-Fi Club that would benefit the most from it.

See? What I said earlier. Well, minus the hair part. :p

How exactly would this be bad? Its not that i dont like the characters, but id like to be able to change their hair and clothes...

more people would probably like the idea of THEMSELVES in the game catching pokemon than random guy#5

They probably won't implement something like this until we get to the point where the games are fully 3D. GF seems to enjoy having a set male and female trainer for each generation

Character customization will never be implemented in a mian-series game. Because if it were, then there wouldn't be an official design. And without an official design, the mangas and anime wouldn't have the option to use those character and advertise the games.

Not entirely true :p I dont recall ash ever being a character. most of the pre set characters were never even used X.x

plus if they wanted advertisement, theres always gym leaders and such.

my only problem is that i think customization wont happen untill 3d :p
