Credit goes to our Bulbagarden Friends who have been on Discord during the Direct. Many screenshots were shared.

We can see sketches of an ambulance, jeep, and other trucks, we may be getting new forms of transportation. We may be able to hitch a ride during the middle of a route :D

Personally, I think we might be able to get a short animation of us riding an ambulance to the Pokemon Center if all of our pokemon faint during a battle (instead of blacking out)

EDIT: You know what, I think I might be wrong. There's a Fire Truck and an Ambulance - which means, we may be getting Fire Fighters and Paramedics for this game.

Finally, the games catch up to the anime.

I'm thinking it's just scenery. Detective Pikachu showed what a living, breathing pokemon world would loom like so I hope SM goes that route as well.

Maybe, just maybe, routes have become actual roads, and you have assistive vehicles for the region. Like, you can get off the ride to explore the wild life around the route, and perhaps your ride can act as an HM.

LOVE this idea. HM's are outdated and a hindrance. Maybe rides and/or other such things are the new HM's.

That would be great! They could act like fast travel points and maybe the ambulances are for fast travel to the nearest Pokémon Center so you don't have to walk all the way back. That would be so nice.

I would love to ride a vehicle, but i think it will work like the taxis where a NPC ride it for you, and at specific places (maybe a legendary hunt, a saffari zone, something like that?)

You know saying that only makes it more likely. The specter of Gen III returning to haunt you :p

But it's Fire/Fighting, not Ghost.

Anyway, I think this could be more like rideable Pokemon than HMs, they're vehicles that have special overworld abilities but they don't take the place of HMs. I also love the idea of using one for the Safari Zone, that would give the "Safari" part of the concept more meaning.

I can see lots of uses for the ambulances. Some of my favorites are having them parked just outside a rough area and restoring defeated players so that they can start back up in the area they lost rather than from the last visited. Pokemon Center.

I think that may be the point of ambulances. They allow players to easily heal their Pokemon out in the overworld. The real question is how do they work? Do they take you back to a Pokemon Center? Can you heal your Pokemon there on the spot? Is there a limit to how many times you can use it? I'd like to know how this works.

Perhaps at some point during the game, you get the ability to "call an ambulance" for your pokemon? Perhaps it would cost the player some amount of money. And maybe they aren't able to fully heal your pokemon. Perhaps it takes 'real time', but maybe only like a minute or two? I mean, time for the ambulance to arrive, and for them to actually heal.
But hey, I'd rather spend money than go to a Pokemon Center if it's far away. If the healing takes time, I could train someone else. Of course, this probably would not work for caves and the like.
But maybe that's what it's for.
Or something story related? Hmm.

The portable Pokemon Center is what I originally thought as well.

I wonder if, as some people have proposed, it saves you the time of having to reset at a center? I know people will complain about the games getting easier, but honestly it was just annoying and never added any difficulty to the games aside from dealing with mental frustration that you have to go three levels back down into a cave you were almost out of because you ran out of potions and lost your last pokemon to a zubat after your attack missed. ._.
