Going solely by the difference between the JPN and NA release date of Dimaond & Pearl and the one from Platinum, I'd say we're looking into a release date difference of 6 to 7 months, putting the NA launch window in Spring 2010.

This is of course hoping that NOA won't try to make a 10 anniversary as well and releasing it in fall 2010 >_> (almost took 1 year to bring Gold and Silver to NA)

No.
It shall be somewhere at the beginning of Spring in EU, so I can get it for my birthday on the 22nd of March.

Anyway, I wouldn't start pondering about release dates. It depends on how long it takes for NoA to make the game suitable for English audiences.

Don't see how much unsuitable it will be from D/P? Took about 6 months for these games to reach NA shores, meaning that Nintendo isn't screwing around with this franshise because they know it sales everywhere. Also, let's not forget that this will be a remake, allowing to use similar scripts of the previous games.

Seriously, the NDS is the fastest selling game system of all time, Nintendo is bringing anything it can from Japan. I mean look at games like Stafy and Rhythm Tengoku, these games never saw the light of day in NA back when they were GBA games and now that they're on DS, we get to see them at BestBuy.

The only possible obstacle to a fast launch window might be the PokéWalker. If NOA decides to drop the idea, then reprogramming will be in order.

Keep in mind that there is double the data there than in DPPt with two regions, which means more things to translate, more names to change, etc.

Well that is true but again, they're remakes, so a lot of the scripts can be recycled.

I don't buy into this, but people say combined Johto/Neo-Kanto is about as big as the whole of Sinnoh.

Well, no. The original scripts were written for GBC. The DS is a far cry from that. They'll have to recode the whole thing. I'm hoping they'll reuse the old dialogue, but even if they do, they'll have to insert it into the new coding. It's not like they can copy-paste all the dialogue at once.

When I say script, I mean actual script, as in written text on paper. They've already translated the games once, they'll know what to code in this new one text-wise.

Yes, they won't have to re-translate it. At least, not all the old stuff. They'll still have to insert all the old text where it belongs, though.

Of course, your talking Gameboy color vs DS here. Surely it's obvious that Sinnoh would have more since its made from a different time.

But consider all that's known about HGSS, and you can guess that with all the stuff they're putting in, it could take up more space than the Sinnoh game.

Spring of the following year is the standard, yes.

I wish people would get it into their skulls that Kanto and Jotho together equal the size of Hoenn or Sinnoh. To put it in other terms - Rhode Island and Connecticut are both states, but that doesn't mean they're bigger than Texas.

Well it would be cool and suck at the same time if they released it on GS's birthday. But can't they reused some of the text from GS? I say around March or April.

Pokewalker won't be dropped in NA release, no reason to do it.

And all in all RSE and DPPt had more text then all of G/S/C, so I don't think that's a problem.

I think yes 'cuz look at the other games that were made in Japan. The release dates b/w Japan and the US is about 6 or 7 months.

I don't think Sinnoh is quite as big as Johto and Kanto combined, but it's a closer comparison than either of those two alone to Sinnoh.

I agree, Platinum came out in Japan in september of '08 and NA in march '09 and europe 2 months later so yeah about 6-8 months to reach globally.

I hate to bump old topics, but I just wanted to brag about having a rather close prediction to the release date. I said spring 2010 and it's coming out 9 days before spring, not bad :p
