About a week ago, I was watching some Bleach DVDs on PowerDVD. I was a little annoyed, however, when I couldn't turn off the subtitles. I figured Viz just screwed up somehow, and put on Japanese so I'd have an excuse to be annoyed by the things.
Then, last night, I decided to boot up a Pinky and the Brain DVD... and got the same problem, only I had the choice of Spanish, Portuguese or French this time (hey, progress!) Frustrated, I opened it in Windows Media Player on a hunch... and the offending subtitles were gone.
This is odd because while watching some Full Metal Panic DVDs last week on PDVD, I had no such problem. Which led my mind to the conclusion that since Bleach and PatB had both been released in the past year... the companies just don't want us taking screencaps anymore and have put in that measure to prevent it. Is my theory right, or is my copy of PDVD just busted?
(and if my conspiracy theory is right, Corporate America is officially on Neku's sucks list. SCREENCAPPING IS NOT PIRACY. Seriously, if I have to put up with this crap when I get around to buying the Indigo and Advanced sets...)
