Power Item help

I keep trying to use power items, but they don't do anything. they used to, but now they don't. The pokemon have no EVs.
 
I'm confident that there's 10 EVs per Power Items, and the limit to EVs is 510. Either you maxed out a certain stat(Max EVS on a Certain Stat is 252), or you used up all 510 EVs.
 
I didn't use any of them for 510 EVs, and some of the Items never worked. I'm not sure, but I don't think pokerus or macho brace are working either
 
I didn't know that. does that mean it wasn't doing anything when I thought it did work?
 
It tends to give a boost at the start, but then slopes away and makes the increase in stats very subtle.
