Just found out that there's going to some special Pokémon boxsets coming out soo. I think the first one is Kanto and Orange Islands collection, and its meant to be packaged in a HUGE book-like thing that looks like a red version pokédex :-D and it has region maps and chracter and pokémon bios and stuff..then sometime after ther's going to be a Johto one....YAY! :yahoo:

and then probily a Honnen And Sinnoh Set

Yeah, Thingamajig made a thread about it in the test forum but it got deleted with all the test forum stuff...
This box will apparently contain all the Kanto, Orange Islands and Battle Frontier episodes... seems like it'll contain even the Season 3 Orange Islands eps and the Season 8 Battle Frontier eps
But where did you hear about a Johto or any other kind of similar box? I guess that's just your speculation? I don't think anything was announced other than this Kanto and Orange box

I remember at an anime expo here in October 2010 they were selling Pokemon boxsets that were from Australia. This is what the one I was thinking of buying looked like: https://www.ezydvd.com.au/g/i/p/810710.jpg So I don't think that was it. It only contained the first 56 episodes, so I left it.

Do you have any links or pictures of the new boxset? Do you know if it has any extra, documentaries, or making-ofs? Because the one I saw last year looked incredibly bare bones.

Yeah, that's the first of the 12 season box sets. It's been out since February last year - and season 12 came out last week.

The new box set this...

It probably won't have any special features because, well, the publishers don't have any. But it comes in a massive 11-page folder with character bios and maps etc. Judging by the runtime it'll have the first 115 dubbed episodes, and the last 61 episodes of Advanced Generation.

No, it's not "the rest of the season"... maybe you mean "the rest of the saga" / "the rest of Kanto/Indigo" or "the rest of episodes with the first opening theme"

Season 1 is the first 52 eps, not the whole Kanto saga.... just like Season 2 is the next 52 episodes so it contains the final part of Kanto and first part of Orange, just like Season 3 is the next 52 eps so it contains the final part of Orange and the first part of Johto.... Seasons 4-8 are also 52 eps exactly each, which yes it means Season 5 ends with the Magby ep while Season 6 contains the last 12 "Master Quest" Johto eps and the all 40 "Advanced" Hoenn eps
It's only starting from Season 7 that "opening theme = season" became a true rule... but for Seasons 1-6, Season = 52 eps and there's no relation between seasons to opening/saga/anything

Seasons 1-8, 11-12 are 52 eps exactly each
Season 9 is 47 eps, Season 10 is 51 eps, Season 13 is 34 eps (possible to change to 36 eps if they eventually air the Dawn/Brock eps as episodes 1335-1336)

i forgot to say that

I would be lying if I said I was specualting :) Im almost CERTAIN a Johto boookDVD-set will be coming out too in the next few months :)

oh and I think it is character bios and maps and stuff. No extras on DVD but I think it's more a collector's item, like a giant 'Im so awesome' coffee table book thing.

A Jonto one is comming out next month

Even if I did live in Australia, I couldn't get my hopes up for something like this; it's one of those "so close, and yet so far" kind of things.

Now, if Japan put out huge box sets of entire sagas like this, that would have me drooling. And then rushing out to buy a region-free DVD player. (Has it ever been established why the Japanese distributors have no interest in releasing box sets? Those cheapo one-disc, two-episode releases they're content to stick with are an exercise in frustration, to say the least.)
