I honestly thought the GTS was perfect already in DP, but theres an issue thats bothering me.

When you go onto a GTS in Platinum theres never a level requirement, so when you go to trade, you can't trade, let me show an example:

You search for a "Kirlia, Lv. 30, female", you find one and the person wants "Piplup Female".
You say "Hey! I got one" you then go to your box to discover that the female piplup the other person wants is greyed, it cannot be selected.
and it's not just that, its EVERYTHING.

I have not ONCE had a successful trade over Platinum. :conangry:

I hear the ridiculous rumor that it's Nintendo's solution to "hacked Pokemon"

Why did they have to add location to the search? I feel like that may be making more of a problem, which may be causing the GTS to not work.

Anyone else have any info?

I can only speak from my experience, of course. I've had quite a bit of success on the GTS and have been pleased with the trades I've made there.

I'm not sure why everything in your boxes would be affected, that seems unusual. I know when you're searching for Pokemon, you have the option of searching for a specific level. Maybe your Piplup (or any other Pokemon) wasn't the level they wanted? Just a guess... I bred a box full of Chimchars, all lvl 1, that I traded off. I've traded them both in "Offering" and "Searching," so I'm not sure why you're running into difficulties. :-(

I've seen it around these forums that I think you can't offer hacked Pokemon, but you can trade when another person is seeking them.

At first, I felt the same way, but it's actually really nice because you get more options. How? If you don't select a country, it'll just pull up the first 1-8 trades it finds (I'm not sure how it makes the selection). If you narrow it down by country, you will find different trades because there's a smaller pool to pull those 1-8. I usually just search in Japan, Canada, Australia, the UK and the USA. I just wish the country search box didn't require me to scroll through the entire list every time (UK and USA... ugh). :p

I have had the same problem with the Global Terminal's GTS in my Platinum game. When I see a pokemon that is asking for a different pokemon which I have, I want to trade right away usually. When I press trade and search my boxes, the pokemon that is being asked for which I have is greyed out and I cannot access it. I am thinking that it is a problem which Nintendo will hopefully fix in the near future.

Yeah, I don't know who started that one, but it's not true. I have certainly traded for Pokemon that I saw being offered, only to receive them and realize that they're hacks. And like you said, I've also received hacks for Pokemon that I've put on offer, so it does go both ways.

I haven't noticed these problems with the Platinum GTS yet though. I've really only been breeding Piplups and putting them on offer for stuff to fill the Pokedex. I actually haven't been using the GTS much to search lately because everyone and their mother wants a Shaymin for everything...

I have the same problem all the time in Platinum.

Just yesterday someone was looking for a Kangaskhan for something I wanted, and I wasn't able to trade any of my kangaskhans.

All it said in the "wanted" box was Kangaskhan, female. No level requirement.

That is a perfect example that demonstrates what is happening to me. =[
can this be fixed?

I still experience problems with this, but none in d/p . This is very weird.. will nintendo ever fix this, and if so can they fix it in the games in which people already purchased?

Jeez, I knew it couldn't be just a problem with my game. I'm kind of relieved that other people have the same problem... but it reeks that no one knows what to do about it. XP

I know! I have to trade on the gts on my diamond :( It stinks, you would think nintendo would have an idea of the situation at this point.

It seems that Platinum simply does not show the level requirement when DP does for whatever reason. It is really agitating. I find various pokemon I wanted asking for pokemon I had but couldn't trade, and when I switched to Pearl to check those same pokemon, the level requirement was displayed. I've simply resorted to only using Platinum to put pokemon up for offer and using Pearl to find pokemon I want.

I know you can still find hacked pokemon on GTS, but sometimes you may see for offer a "level 60 Machoke" and person wanting a "lv 5 Palkia" which you can't legally obtain, in this instance its probably the person using the GTS hack. (You put your pokemon you want to evolve up for trade like I said with machoke, then to stop someone actually trading for it and you losing your pokemon, you say you want a pokemon you know you could not really get like the level 9 palkia or a level 1 darkrai. You trade for something and make the trade. Go back onto GTS and recall your pokemon from the trade your making, then it should evolve)

I have not traded yet with GTS in Platinum, but did they get rid of the level requirement in Platinum? Don't think this is right but have to be sure. If they did then you could trade a level 9 palkia or something which would have to be a hack.

Does the Platinum GTS even use the same system as the D/P one?

will this ever be fixed - I dont want to have to switch my games everytime I want to virtually trade :(

The Platinum GTS seems to have a slightly different system than DP. The process for putting pokemon up is the same, but searching for them is different. In DP, there was obviously the fact that level requirements show up, but also when you're looking for pokemon, you have to press "B" after looking a pokemon's trading profile in order to select another one to look at. In Platinum, neither of those are true, and you can search for pokemon by country as well. There's also the strange difference of how in DP, you searched levels by 9 and under, 10 and up, 20 and up, etc...until you get to 100. In Platinum, you searched levels by 10 and under, 11-20, 21-30, etc...until 91-100 or something like that. I'm not sure why all these changes are here, but overall I preferred the DP GTS.

I agree - Im losing my patience, and I cant do anything about it.

has this problem even been discovered ? anyone who knows please reply :/

I saw it as an equilizer.

You his select assuming you have it. You can't see exactly what you need, so it takes more time to go and look. In that way, it takes longer to make a trade.

In the time you take, another person can get the trade. Presumably to prevent quick snatch ups.

You guys should call nintendo instead of saying "someone should let them know" its not hard to dial a 1-800 number and talk to someone.

Anyway i already did that yesturday because i am also having this problem on platinum. The 2 people i talked too "i called twice" said it was a known issue with the US version of pokemon platinum and the only way to fix it is to mail your game to them.

It takes an average of 1-3 weeks the people said for you to get your game back, and you will lose all saved data. So basicly almost every copy of platinum being sold in the US is defective. I have heared of people who dont have this problem. So your best bet is to return the game where you bought it and exchange it for another one and keep doing that until you get one that works. Or call nintendo and tell them what your problem is and they will mail you free of charge a shipping label where you can put your game in and mail to them.

This really piss's me off. I used the GTS alot in Diamond and i dont have 2 DS systems so i cant just trade pokemon from diamond to platinum like some of you are doing. The only way to trade right now is to go on forums and get people friend codes and trade that way.

I havent even touched my game since i found this problem 3 days ago there is no point in continuing if im going to have it repaired. Im going to exchange it once or twice and if its still defective im going to mail to nintendo to be fixed.

Someone should complain to Nintendo, see what they have to say about this.

Nintendo only promotes and sells the game being that is on a Nintendo system, its game freak people should contact if they have a problem with the game as they created it, not nintendo, remember that. If you have problems with the game and can't get it fixed with Nintendo, find out how to contact game freak and let them know.

Um no nintendo does the repairs, they build the games and license them. Gamefreak only devolped the game they have nothing to do with the actuall game repairs its Nintendo who does that. Besides who said no one could get it fixed with nintendo. I sure didnt.

I am furious! I left my combee level 30 in the gts in platinum for two days, and when I came to check on it, the game said it fled! I searched my party and it was gone! Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, should the gts on platinum not be trusted?

Edit: Sorry if that sounded harsh, it was just a way of expressing my feelings at the time :/
