Although niche, “scary logos” have seemed to become more of a prevalent topic these past few years. The term refers to any production logo (usually animated) that they show before or after TV shows or movies, that scared viewers. The most famous example is probably THX. Have one of these logos ever scared you and do you know what about it scared you? On the flip side, are there any logos you find comforting and/or nostalgic?
Harvey Levin Productions was my scary logo as a kid. The brash and idiotic voice always jumpscared me, and the ventriloquist dummy mouth didn’t help either.
In terms of comforting ones, the one that comes to mind is Nelvana! This came on at the End of Little bear with the theme music still playing. Everything about that show was so cozy, right down to the very end. The polar bear looking up at the softly glowing stars at the night sky embodies such a warm, fuzzy feeling. This clip also has an adorable Nick Jr. logo after it, it’s so precious ;w;
Also, this one is interesting, because it’s considered a scary logo by some and I definitely understand why. It’s very loud, bizarre and has a weird vibe overall. But I find it nostalgic because I have this memory of watching a ton of Peep in the Big Wide World when I was little, in my mom’s bed, it was getting dark outside and the warm glow of the logo in the dark. But at the same time it makes me slightly uncomfortable from an audiovisual standpoint too lol.
